VN24 - 27-02-2023 (D/M/Y) - Kamen A1 / Germany - A serious traffic accident occurred on the A1 freeway shortly after the Kamen-Zentrum junction. The 45-year-old driver of a rental van and his 17-year-old passenger were seriously injured. The 17-year-old is in life threatening condition. For reasons as yet unexplained, the 45-year-old driver of a van hit the flatbed truck of a 56-year-old driver in front. The force of the impact was so powerful that the van skidded across the carriageway and came to a halt stuck in the right-hand crash barrier. The 17-year-old passenger was trapped in the vehicle and had to be rescued by the fire department. His life is in danger. According to initial investigations, the young passenger was not wearing a seat belt. The rescue and cleanup work led to partial closures of the A1 and caused traffic jams.
