VN24 - 07.04.2022 - Unna A1 / Germany - A 63-year-old truck driver suffered life-threatening injuries in an accident on the A1 freeway at around 08:25 h in the morning. The driver of a tank truck for hydrogen sulfide was northbound in the direction of Bremen. Between the unna-center and Kamen-center junctions, traffic was backed up due to a construction site. At the end of the traffic jam, a 40-year-old man from Romania came to a halt with his truck in the right lane. The 63-year-old tanker driver behind him apparently noticed this too late for reasons that have not yet been explained and drove his unladen hazardous goods transporter onto the truck in front of him. He was severely trapped in his cab and had to be rescued by the fire department. The rescue service then took him to a hospital for further treatment.
Damage to the 40-year-old's truck caused hundreds of kilograms of cold beef to be scattered across the carriageway and had to be disposed of. The lanes of the A1 freeway had to be completely closed in the direction of Bremen until around 9:45 h. The left lane was then reopened. It was not until around 14:40 o'clock that the closures could be completely lifted.
