vNARCON 2022 - How Not To Get Your Level 3 Lessons Learned from Lumineer. Presented by Joe Barnard.
In April of 2021, I sent a 50 lb. rocket to 30,000 ft. and just barely got it back. It was built to be a Level 3 certification flight, which did not end up succeeding for lots of reasons. While the Level 3 attempt did not work, the goal of Lumineer was to "light the way" for my journey into high powered rocketry, and it did just that! From composite tip to tip laid up fins, to recovering a rocket with almost no telemetry, I'll walk through the lessons learned during the design, build, and flight process. At the end of the presentation, I'll talk about future plans for High Powered Rocketry including dual deploy computers and active fin control!
