After having watched "The Pick of Destiny" I just needed more Tenacious D, especially given satan showing up at the end of the film. How does it end? How did it begin? Are they correlated?! I needed to know! So, let's cut to the greatest song in the world's tribute!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Tenacious D performing "Tribute" for the very first time.

I know you probably get this all the time, (but as i sincerly appreciate your videos and your reactions as from being raised in grunge and metal, its interesting to see what other scopes of musical life think about rock) (as a whole). Would you react to the band im vocalist for? See what you think? As someone so esteemed as yourself i personally would find it a privilege to have you do a natural real reaction if you had time to do so and wanted to delve into a wierd side of 'metal'. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gLAB90yjJ00.html Also sorry not on main youtube account! They're not underrated as they have a significant fan base, and their last concept album wasn't that great and took a very long time to take off so Jack Black had to do a show on his kids youtube just to get anyone to find it because it was released on youtube and for a year or more barely anyone watched it. They're great, but they're rated about where they should be now a days. They're not what this song is as artists anymore. Jack Black is really leaning into being a dad and getting old in ways that make me sad, but that's probably selfish of me. He doesn't really have this level of energy anymore. He hurt himself on Conan practicing for a sketch just running into a doorway. 🤷‍♂️

Fun fact: The microphone Jack is singing into can be clearly seen at 15:26 in the video. It is the broadcast version of the legendary Buchannon Hammer, The Electro Voice 664. The broadcast version has a matte finish so it would not shine in bright camera lights. It had a slightly different model number, the EV 666! We might say, "The Devil's microphone". Only a handful of viewers would have found that little "Easter Egg" but you know darned well, Jack and Kyle knew.

That's partly true. They had a really low budget tv show first, and there is where the characters, some songs and "Tenacious D lore" originally comes from if my memory serves me correct. Copy-paste from wiki. "Tenacious D is a television series that ran on HBO from 1997 to 2000. It features the fictional accounts of the real-life comedy rock duo Tenacious D, which is composed of members Jack Black and Kyle Gass. All of the episodes of the show are available on Tenacious D's The Complete Master Works DVD.[1][2][3][4][5]"

This song is an homage to Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin. You can hear the final notes of Stairway at the end of the song, and the pre-chorus of "..and we played the first thing that came to our heads..." follows the same 3 chord progression from the ending of Stairway (Am, G, F)

With due respect, at least according to Wikipedia, this song was actually inspired by Metallica's song, "One"...although the compositional similarities to Stairway are quite obvious. Wikipedia is user-edited and fluid. However, the reference to the song "One" with regard to this TD tune has endured on Wikipedia's description and back story of "Tribute" for at least 7 years. So I'm left with the impression that, although the song is obviously Zeppelin-derivative, it is actually dedicated to Metallica's "One". Were TD's comments regarding this song satirical? The end of semester project was a research project to find one song from each decade of Rn'R (1950s-2020s) AND a cover version of that song and make PowerPoint presentation. I went a little bit over board and ended up up multiple songs for a handful of decades, but I made the centerpiece of my presentation Led Zeppelin "Stairway to Heaven" because it it the greatest song in the world (don't worry "Bohemian Rhapsody" was also included and it was made clear that it is the only competitor to "Stairway to Heaven"). The cover that I used for "Stairway to Heaven" was a live version of "Tribute" with Dave Grohl on the drums and the last few notes Jack Black played were from "Stairway to Heaven". It was perfect. Pretty sure my professor will use my presentation as an example for as long as he teaches that class lol.

I looooooved this reaction so much. The humor and talent combo that Jack and Kyle bring is so fun, and so is your reaction. 🙂 And yes, Dave Grohl is one of the more outstanding human beings. Drums, guitar, singing, writing, big hearted, funny, it's annoying really.

Right? All of those things and STILL manages to hone his skill as a master BBQ chef and then go feed a couple hundred people during a disaster... on his own dime, with his own giant BBQ smoker. I mean, ffs Dave, give it a rest... we know you're already a Saint, bro, stop rubbing it in.

Dave Grohl is one of the best pure musicians in the last 25 years. He does guitar, drums, and vocals at a very high level

He's not a great guitar player but his riffs make up for it. A riff master.

I'm thinking that actually in this video is not Dave Grohl. He plays on drum, guitar, ad do singing and played The Devil in the movie, but this guy is a stunt, isn't?

The way you stuck your tongue through your teeth, shrilled and giggled in reaction after their “mini-Classico” part, was the epitome and embodiment of pure joy and happiness. I rewinded and watched that moment several times. It really made me smile to watch you enjoying this for the first time. Keep up all the great work. You’re a bright light in a somewhat dark world and I appreciate you. ✌🏻❤️🤙🏻🎶🎵🤘🏻

15:42 Dave Grohl is basically a one-man-band. He's mostly known for his position as a drummer in various bands, including names like _Nirvana_ and _Queens of the Stone Age_ (as well as _Tenacious D_ at times btw.), and his vocals in the _Foo Fighters_ - but he's also a natural on the other instruments.
