my favorite thing about demi is that she can hold a note/run without breaking for a ridiculously long time like what??? does she e v e r need to breath?
Am I the only one thinks Demi is underrated? I mean her voice is more beautiful than a lot of singers. Right? She is *perfect* Edit:omg thx for the likes. and yeah i am a big fan.. i am a fan for 7 years :) Edit 2: please.. please stop comparing ppl, that doesnt even have anything to do w the comment i made..
She actually stated in a video interview one time, that her idol was Paramore. Like, she wanted to sound like them initially. And she talked about how she used that vocal sound until she found her own, if that makes sense. Like, she grew more into her own sound over time.
Beyoncé is an amazing performer but she doesn’t have the best vocals out there Demi, Jessie J, Sia and Christian Aguilera’s vocals are way more excelled In my opinion but Bey is a better performer not the same
Her style has changed I guess, plus "rocker Demi" was in a really bad place mentally and emotionally. I loved that music too, rock is my preferred genre, but she's much more confident and happy now than she was then :)
these were during some of the worst times of her life (her various addictions) and she STILL performed amazingly. i have so much respect for her; she is truly talented
Her voice is the kind of voice that sounds like it has so much pain and power at the same time! It's beautiful and makes me want to cry because of how beautiful it is!!
Whitter Blue Funny you say that. I don’t know why, but at around 11:18, I felt a little bit of welling in my eyes. Completely unintentional, I guess I didn’t expect her to go that high and it took me off guard. It was so good.
Not a vocal coach, but I’ve been saying it for years. She’s is absolutely one of the best singers in pop/our generation, whatever you want to call it. She’s incredible, so under appreciated. What a goddess. The emotion she puts into her singing.. I cri evrytiem.
oKAY LEMME HAVE A QUICK RANT HERE I’ve been noticing your videos pop up on my explore page for about 3 weeks now but I felt like you were about be really judgy about everyone’s voices and felt like you’d be that „I’m better than everyone else” person, today I accidentaly clicked on one of your videos and I’m actually shook at how positive your content is, I love the way you bring out the best in everyone’s voices. subscribed, definitely will be watching your future videos! go you!!!
Oml. Demi’s transitioning is sooo smooth but the sharpness of her voice and her confidence is just so captivating. (I’m not a professional I’m just describing it to the best of my ability)
I don’t care if you don’t like her personality or type of music but you can deny the fact the girl can sing really well and she is one of the best singers of this gen she truly sings her heart out
She's a really good singer I can tell she's been trained, good control and pitch, but I'm not a fan of her voice... I find it a little grating idk why. Almost like nails on a chalk board my ears perk up and I cringe a bit lol
11:18 CHILLS EVERYWHERE! My shoulders, back, arms, all the way to my legs! The pull you get from her steady growing crescendo is amazing. Demi is a powerhouse! She's not perfect, but she has a very STABLE foundation. I've always loved her for her raw music and emotions.
Shes also one of the only popstars whos voice gets BETTER rather than worse over time. She clearly works hard to improve instead of forcing it to go places it cant yet
Lol I can sing so much better and powerfull with sitting dont ask why xD I dont get how people can sing good with standing It sounds awfull when I stand
her first two albums were "rock",they were what I listened to during my middle school emo age lmao. I still love her, and you can see how she's been steadily improving in the years.
"Im getting some hayley williams vibes" me, a demi stan since i was a fetus "YEAH THATS BECAUSE HAYLEY WILLIAMS WAS ONE OF HER BIGGEST INSPIRATIONS HER FAVORITE PARAMORE SONG WAS BORN FOR THIS"
Rachael Shay when I saw her in concert she sang father and it made me cry. I don't even have daddy issues but it was so powerful, I couldn't help it lol
Me too her songs goes straight to my soul and her voice for me is the best like some female singers when they hit high notes it's kinda annoying but her voice is so smooth
Hideki Lolkowicz I know right I’ve seen him critique Hozier too and I’m like dude his vowels aren’t unique when it comes to his accent hahaha! But Hozier is still an amazing vocalist
Demi is just like Xtina. Both have sung more than 3 genres, and they sound perfect singing it. They also always give it all when they sing live, they don't just sing to entertain, but they deliver it straight to our hearts. Not to forget, both vocal techniques might not be perfect but to many they are beyond perfect. They blow off the roofs when they sing and had us having goosebumps all the time. They can fucking mix voice and we all know Xtina is the queen of mix chest voice. Damn... Demi took the inspiration from Xtina a lot. Glad to know they are having a song together called FALL IN LINE!! Stay tuned to May 20th BBMAs!!!
the point of a cover isn’t to imitate or replicate someone else’s voice. the point of a cover is to take a song and hopefully make it yours or bring your own connection to it.
Plus the original singer has an accent. Since he is from a different part of the world. Im not too sure how you would be able to incorporate another accent, if that makes sense.
I understand his point. A cover is a copy that's why it is called cover. I don't think you have to make a cover yours because it isn't yours... A good cover should stick to the original.
Braxy the definition of a cover is not a copy. it’s to borrow someone else’s music and do it yourself. it all comes down to a matter of opinion of what you want to hear. there isn’t a right answer, no need to argue.
Demi is one of the best singers of our generation but she is so underrated she deserves so much more recognition I love her so much. Her vocals make me speechless
Demi Lovato is queen I swear. I keep hearing people say that Demi has absolutely terrible technique and im just saying that her technique is amazing and they ar just saying tons of bullmonkey
Sweetie, technique is not subjective. Demi, in fact has terrible technique. High larynx, straining above C5, inconsistent support, terrible vibrato, etc you name it.
sadie birner Do you know what people mean by TECHNIQUE or are you basing it simply off her vocals just because you think she sounds good? Because that means nothing. It’s about HOW she sings those vocals. What she uses to sing. She used to have terrible technique back then. It’s definitely better now, but not its absolute best. But at least she’s improving. If she wasn’t, she’d be ruining her vocal health. It happens.
Skinnyana Grande Lmao you can stop it honey, first of all, nowhere did the op say that technique was subjective- it’s not. And second and most important, she’s a B-rated vocalist, she has everything but terrible technique, she has above average technique and positives far outweighing negatives. Not perfect, not Star-rated or A-list just yet, but definitely not terrible either, that’s a major reach. No to mention an Ariana stan should be the last person to come for someone for having horrible technique seeing as in present time Ariana is presenting far more technical issues than Demi since her technique has declined while Demi’s has improved since the beginning of their careers.
Omg, I had no idea that she was mixing. I thought she was belting the whole time 😦 I love how educational this video is; knowing what Demi's actually doing is making me love her singing so much more!!
+Hannah Ita not exactly! Like the name would imply, it's a mix between your chest and your head voice. It's tricky to master and takes a long time, but when it's done well, it will sound like a belt but have a range closer to your head voice. Hope this is helpful!
the best advice i can give it to just realllyyy breath into your stomach and try to support those jumps with a nice belt. or if you’re trying to hit a nice supported head voice (opera-esque) really picture driving the sound into your forehead and force the ringing to happen up there
Describing her voice as "smooth but sharp & metallic" makes so much sense and is spot on for describing her sound. I think it is so unique. I love her voice!
Arta Soboļeva and don't forget..(that was a song she sung haha)about sonny with a chance I remember those good ole Disney days but now she's a iconic queen
You reacted to Demi's best live vocals but didn't react to her singing Father live. That, for me, is her alltime best performance ever... You gotta react to it!
Yes! I DEFINITELY agree! I heard her perform it live on her tell me you love me tour and I fell to the floor in amazement! I couldn’t stop sobbing from how spectacular it was.
Her older stuff was Disney stuff. It was more rockish mixed with pop. It was also during the time she was heavy into her personal issues and it was ruining her voice. You can actually hear how it went from raspy to more crisp as the years go on. Demi is Queen. Nobody can change my mind on this. She has improved her life and is beautiful all around. Kudos.
3:59 when Demi first started her career all her songs were pretty much pop rock cause that was what was big at the time😂 especially for young disney stars
Angelisa Hassan have you heard Her albums don’t forget and here we go again. They were both very influenced by rock including panic at the disco, paramore etc. Her sound was pop but a lot of her music was inspired by those artists so it’s classified more as pop-rock I guess. Her more ballad style and regular chill pop styles show more of her technique, runs and just what her voice can do in general. I love both. I listen to remember December, don’t forget and la la land all the time ,but nightingale, fix a heart, stone cold, you don’t do it for me anymore etc. show a lot of her range.
even for her newer music im more into her ballads...girl can sing and she uses her platform to raise awareness to many really important overlooked issues which is also really cool. She is very popular, but shes still underrated. shes up there with the BEST hands down vocally. yet her openness about issues most ppl in the spotlight hide from has actually held her back and thats completely outrageous. Shes kind of penalized just for having the courage to speak truth about touchy subjects and thats just so wrong. Luckily she continues to do it though because its ppl like her that the world really need
Omg the amount of faces you make while you’re listening is amazing 😂 also thanks for pointing out where her head and her mix are cause that stuff still confuses me 😂
Demi is literally my vocal goals. Every time I see my voice coach I'm like, "so I heard this Demi track..." Surprise, surprise. 😊 We're working on You Don't Do It For Me Anymore. 💜
Why is everyone comparing her with Beyonce? I wouldn’t say one of them is “better” than another, they have different voices, different styles of singing and different kind of music. 💖
Luna all he is saying is that she has an amazing voice!!!! And it’s one of the top voices around along with Beyoncé. He is not comparing her at all, he’s giving her credit for how incredibly talented she is
I think Tristan wants beef in his comment section. I notice him making statements in each video that are sure to start flame wars. A professional should stay away from these ridiculous comparisons.
ALLEN SINGS As long as both of them are hitting the notes, it’s not about facts but about taste. If you like beyonce better that’s cool but let others like demi better or whatever
they will still try to say she has poor control. lots of ppl don;t like demi for stupid reasons. which i dont understand like shes a great person and unlike most with celebrity status she uses it for the right things etc. yet all she gets is hate
Fernanda Gallegos No one is forcing you to listen to pop. A lot of people enjoy and listen to pop. The world doesn’t revolve around you so it shouldn’t have to cater to you.
Kiki Gorecki hahaha take a pill and relax, i don't mean to offend but I'm allowed to say that I don't like pop, right? for me it's a very commercial genre that innovates almost nothing, i just don't understand the hype.
