Lady gaga took musical theater in college so she has always known how to sing like that... however in the beginning she kept that pop vocal vibe and then when she "made it" and was able to do whatever she wanted, you will notice that whenever she was given any genre to sing whether it was the sound of music or singing like the old crooners, like Tony Bennett, a broadway tune or in that clip of her in the black afro.... she could easily do it... she is one of the most vocally adaptable people Ive ever seen.... she has an incredible voice that is virtually flawless.. ive never heard her sing an off note. She is a true icon and vocal goddess!
what i am saying is she has made plenty of mistakes whereas in your above comment you have claimed that *she has never sung an off note.* which is absolutely false.
Nope that is NOT what I said... I said "I" have never heard her sing an off note... meaning ME personally... I am sure absolutely she has but I personally have never heard it. Stop trying to make something out of nothing just so you can crap on a comment that has nothing offensive or bad in it and was just praising a singer i like.... its people like you who make youtube a shitty place to share a thought.... quit looking for people to disagree with.
I know that shes said before fame her teachers told her that her voice was too theater to become a pop star. I think being told that may have contributed to her kind of distorting her voice to try and fit that mold, but as shes become more famous shes letting that go and showing what she truly has. I didn't like her until I heard her sing Paparazzi live during the VMAs and I fell in love with her because I realized how amazing she actually is.
Sam Desmond completely agree. I think she changed her voice so that she could fit in with the pop scene & definitely her earlier music I feel like wasn’t authentically her. After she became famous I think she began to make the switch to what she really wanted do stylistically in her music
Same! That paparazzi performance changed my entire view of her since I found her recorded music to be so bland. But when she was live and showing her voice off I was amazed.
supernerdsarah I guess now you should listen to the song before it's sung live I guess, cause she ALWAYS performs it better than the studio version, be prepared for her new songs for next time she sings them life
It's good to see the repliers not screaming at you because you think Gaga is great😂, I'm on your side I think she's one the of the best as well, the other pop singers can go all high in all, but do that have they really have much soul? I don't hear it.
Raf Malabanan Beyoncé is actually slightly better because she can do a lot more with her voice but both of them have the best singing techniques in the music industry at the moment so that makes the both the best singers out right now period. And they’re both mezzos! Crazy
@@PetroleumJellay I think Gaga is better because she has a jazz tone when she sings jazz and Beyonce kinda doesn't. Also, I never heard Beyonce sing rock or heavy metal.
Emji_88 Well, I could try, but I'm not especially skilled at technology. Better than my parents, but not great. I remember my elder siblings saying she was lip syncing because she was doing an entire dance routine whilst singing and wasn't out of breath at all. If my memory serves me rightly she got a lot of backlash from that circumstance, I'll try and find it.
Emji_88 I can't find it. Either she wasn't lip-syncing at all and my siblings were incorrect, or it wasn't lady gaga at all and my memory is false, if so I greatly apologise.
Connor Caughlin OH MY GOD THATS WHAT IVE BEEN SCREAMING THIS WHOLE TIME THROUGH THIS ENTIRE VIDEO. Like she is not getting fucking lessons she is classically trained you dumb shit. She’s not like all these other bullshit artists she knows what the hell shes doing. She is picking and choosing what style she wants to use for each song, not changing her style.
Being clasically trained doesn't mean she always had perfect technique, also it doesn't explain changing styles, classical singing is 1 style, yes she do play a lot with the textures of her voice but it isn't just that, there is no doubt she did improve a lot since she started off, her technique overall sounds healthier now.
I should've said vocally trained. But it stands. I was just saying because, and sorry- it has been two months since I've seen this video, but he was talking about how it sounded like she was getting training or whatever. I said this to show that she has known how to sing & known proper technique throughout her entire singing career.
She did get lessons in the Music Theatre style at one point. Michael Lavine was her vocal coach and he has coached the likes of Kristin Chenoweth, Sutton Foster and more... I only know this because I had a few lessons with him this year and he was talking about when he used to coach her. So she does still get lessons and training. Every artist/performer should always still have coaching as their voices grow and change imo.
Lady Gaga is probably one of my favorite artist of all time. She is genuinely so freaking talented and I've loved watching her evolve from Bad Romance to Joanne and everything in between.
I went to her concert in 2012 and I WAS SHOOK! One of the best female vocalists ever. You can tell she has a musical theater background lol I mean, she had so many outfit changes but still kept singing. Plus this was when her rib (or hip?) was broken...
it was her hip. you’re so lucky to be able to attend born this way ball. it’s always been my dream but i was only 10 at the time. i still think it’s her best tour and i don’t think she can top that one. the outfits, the stage, the choreography, the interactions with fans... and you’re even luckier if she sang princess die that day. :)
It’s so interesting hearing you explain what she’s doing in more technical terms because it helps me understand why I’m enjoying different parts of what’s happening in the clip. But you do it without alienating us with jargon!
Lady Gaga is a classically trained singer and her performances were always very theatrical but her vocal prime era started in 2014/2015 when she released a jazz album with Tony Bennett and she went on a tour with him. Jazz music has improved her voice so much!!!! you should listen to "Lush Life"
To be honest, I thought people mostly love her, especially as she keeps re-inventing herself with her song writing and vocal skills, which commands respect.
She’s probably always had that style to be completely honest. She went to and graduated from NYU for voice. She’s properly trained in opera and theater. Of course she’s great. 🤷🏼♀️
Lady Gaga in between her Born This Way album and her Artpop album released an album with Tony Bennet and she even went on tour with him. This is where she developed her newer style of singing, after all the hard work she put into working with Tony Bennet whom she credits for helping her change and improve her voice drastically. I think she sounds worlds apart from her debut album to what she can do now. I like her newer style of singing where she can confidently back up a musical theater belt or can really grind it up and have that distortion.
anthoni Haus She started working with him as early as her born this way days, there's several performances they did together. But you're right, the album her and Tony Bennet did, Cheek to Cheek, was between Artpop and Joanne. But she worked with him and performed with him when still promoting Born this way, and hadn't done Artpop yet.
Knowing some background of her would help him. She went through the heavily artistic phase and went on hiatus. She started post videos of her doing long breathing exercises and phonating exercises. She made finding the buzz in each vowel, muscle memory. She did just meditative breathing techniques to find more efficient breathing. If you watch the videos you might think they are just like meditative excersizes, but she's building up her diaphramatic muscles, finding the shapes in her larynx and esophagus and shaping her pallate and using that to produce more resonance in her face. She built up all those muscles around her diaphram and in her core and she makes an effort to always use them when singing. Even when she dances or rolls around, she will find her alignment in her torso and energize all those muscles as soon as she sings. She studied for a bit with a classical instructor for the "Sound of Music Medley' and I feel like she incorporates a bit of that technique in producing a natural vibrado and I see it a lot in her later works. Her resonance and breathing technique are the most noticeable improvements to me. All of these techniques she picked up will help her longevity. She even growls healthier now.
I've been saying this since the born this way era: gaga has something that other female pop singers don't have. Her voice range is unique and she's insanely talented
She’s not a great actress. She was sometimes okay and sometimes downright atrocious in American Horror Story. Never great. I heard from early sources she’s pretty great in the new a star is born. If that turns out to be true then I’d love to see her take a stab at Elphaba.
Absolutely not to Lea Michele. I actually love her singing voice, but she's too much like Idina Menzel and they'll want to cast someone who's not so divisive. People vehemently HATE Lea Michele.
You should react to Hayley from Paramore. She’s SO underrated. She probably has one of the best live vocals and vocal control I ever heard. Plus her voice is so unique.
Lady Gaga started to put a lot more focus on the lower register of her mezzo-soprano roughly in 2011 - which suits her much better than her earlier (acoustic) work because she is a very low mezzo-soprano, bordering on a very high alto in general.
That's not true at all lol. Lady Gaga is nowhere near being a contralto (not even a low mezzo-soprano). Miley Cyrus and Anastacia are lower mezzo-sopranos. Lady Gaga's tessitura is so unimaginably high compared to that of other mezzo-sopranos (most mezzos have to use a heady mix above Eb5 but only occasionally has Gaga had to use a heady mix on E5s and F5s). Gaga's low notes, despite being amazing in their own right, are not that good compared to other mezzos like Miley, JoJo and Beyoncé (the same can be said for someone like Adele).
And THAT is exactly why I have no choice but to consider her one of the best singers in the world. Like oh my god The Sound of Music tribute is one of my favorite performances of all time. Her voice really can just cut through whatever it's competing with and it's like you can FEEL her sing. My skin immediately gets goosebumps with her tone and resonance. I love her so much.
Your facial expressions...your facial expressions. Like...boo. I love them. Hahaha Every time you said “Woooooo!” You made this face. And I lived for it. Lol
I’d like to hear your opinion on Hayley Williams. I feel like she’s really underrated and she’s actually one of my favorite singer (if not my favorite period). She’s got a great range, can do multiple « styles » of singing, and I think she has one of the best pitch matching (for that last one I could be wrong, I did not take the time to compare).
Ok so I subbed on my first video but now I really love yoi after the second video I’ve watched because You’re eyes literally light up to what you listen to You actually enjoy music and have knowledge about the topic. It’s adorable to watch you listen to the person and find something you like about their voice. I can tell when someone actually enjoys talent and isn’t only being judgmental but also finding the likes and dislikes about the talent is a talent within itself. You’re amazing and I’m gonna continue watching regularly. ❤️
she started singing with tony and she starting evolving after that. around 2011. she said he gave her confidence and re-sparked her passion for singing
I've seen her twice in concert, in 2010 for Monster Ball and 2017 for Joanne. She slays. I've seen great singers in concert, and I've seen great performers, and then there's Gaga. She's it. Like Pink, I think she's superhuman. The level of ability is beyond.
When she did the sound of music melody she trained really hard to do it all in the original keys from the movie. I imagine after that she used some of the techniques that she learned in her newest music.
Watch her college performances and your questions will be answered. Search her singing her piano ballad “Captivated” from 2005. You can also find some of her earliest Lady Gaga performances of her singing her songs “Fever” and “Wonderful” that showcase her early prowess. There’s also footage of her dive bar days in NYC where she covers Led Zeppelin songs and her own original songs. Even during those days as a teen she shows greater vocal prowess and musicianship than the popular artists of today.
Idk why but some of these clips make me feel emotional. Something about her voice is just so magical. With that being said, love your vids and reactions, keep it up ☺
I’m sure people have told you this but she studied musical theatre at NYU. was told she would never make it. Definitely one of the most dynamic voices in the pop arena today. I’ve got demos she did from wayyyy back in the day that sound like... no doubt meet Alanis. Cut to today- she’s got a more classic tamber even in her “country” album Joanne. Love this human.
Knew I picked the right woman to stan. Gave me the courage to come out back in 2009 and no one REALLY knew what she could do. Saw her on her first big tour and the second she opened her mouth my whole body had chills. She is our generations diva, one of the most artistic musicians in the industry. Anyone can learn to sing, not everyone is a musician. She has a real handle on the minor techniques, the feelings, the creativity, the art aspect of artistry 100% down. Will forever and always me number 1 artist.
could you react to tori kelly best vocals please?? she’s so incredibly naturally talented there are videos of her as a kid as well where she sounds amazing! i would love if you could react to her!
PLEASE react to the new songs from “A Star Is Born” like “ always remember us this way “ PLEASEEE or “shallow” , they are so amazing and I need you to react!!
Lady Gaga is a chameleon. She can change her style to suit whatever artistic purpose she chooses. She's classically trained and was told her voice wouldn't translate into pop music. She's that awesome.
Him, listening to lady gaga: talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before
Since she alledgedly has Fibromyalgia now and therefore ist in constant pain, do you think that this might have influenced her ability to sing? Bc for me, its harder to really breathe and sing with strength due to my pain and constant nausea. Would love to know. Great video
Fibro can have different symptoms in different people. Even though she experiences lots of back pain it seems like it affects her dancing more than her singing if you watch her documentary.
Fibromyalgia also causes extreme fatigue and lack of energy physically plus has negative effects on a person's mentality and emotions. No doubt this affects her voice and performing abilities in all different aspects. She's amazing though and I hope she's able to feel better most of the time.
She had to cancel the last few tour date shows due to how much pain she was in. It definitley hasnt affected her voice but her live performances definitly leave her more out of breath and more tired and in pain. Sometimes you can tell. Obviously with how tempromental fibro is.
Elizabeth Wildman Her doctors might be wrong. After all, science has not yet figured out exactly what causes fibromyalgia, or if there is more than on illness with those same symptoms.
That Bang Bang cover was absolutely fantastic! Should have included performances from her newest album, Joanne and her Million Reasons performance from the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
Pop crush sucks. Lady Gaga has soo soo soooooooooo many good vocal videos and her vocals are amazing. Those videos where okay compared to others that she has out. Sill QUEEEN👸🏼👸🏼👸🏼👸🏼👸🏼
Just a background on Gaga. She does have a history in musical theatre back when she was in college and also takes musical inspo from old jazz and rock roll. During her early career and until now she’d perform jazz sets in small bars in cities she visits. A few years back she released a jazz album with Tony Bennet and had a residency in Las Vegas.
I feel Gaga about the voice lightening. The older I get, the lighter my singing voice has become. I started singing with a very dark, rich voice. I miss it but what can you do?!
Found your channel today through one of your reaction videos about James Charles. Immediently subbed for your positive vibes and energy. Then i heard one of your covers and I was like wow! I've been binge watching your videos since.
Not only does Lady Gaga have her own unique voice, but she has he own insane style. Not only that. Take away all that and SHE PLAYS PIANO WHILE SHE SINGS SO YOU KNOW SHES A REAL ARTIST. You know she composes her own songs and she's a true genius in her work. Amazin
