Vocal Coach Reaction to Zayn Malik's Best Live Vocals 

The one clip that you comment on where his voice sounds very, very different from his usual sound is not actually him singing live, it's the studio version of the song (More Than This) that the one direction official channel (i think) put over actual live footage of the band singing the song on tour, and I've always been very confused as to why the original maker of this compilation put it in the video. As you say, the production team on the song probably did a lot of stuff to his voice to make him sound "younger", as was the case with a lot of zayn's studio vocals during his time in the group, which he has stated since leaving; they would tweak his voice until it sounded as "Pop" as possible, which is a real shame when you know what his voice actually sounds like live. Every past member of 1D sounds extremely different, but Zayn really was always in a league of his own, and that is just stating facts (he sang the high notes because his voice was the only voice that allowed for that kind of range and power). I think he still has the possibility to grow technically of course, but his raw natural talent and the extreme power of his voice is already enough to sing circles around pretty much whatever you give to him. I would be really interested to hear your thoughts on how his voice has grown through the years, so definitely check out hs newer stuff. Concerning the other 1D boys, I'd recommend checking out Harry Styles, his voice was always my second favourite, not to mention his and Zayn's vocals go beautifully together, but that's a different story (and I've nerded out enough as it is lol). they all have great voices but zayn's voice always stood out to me and i realized it was bc his voice is so full. like,,, his vocals are so powerful and stable. it amazes me when he goes from his very masculine vocals to super high-pitch notes. i mean... HOW??

Whenever Zayn is appreciated for anything it makes me so happy that he is getting what he deserves. And also you should check out Liam, Louis, Niall and Harry too. All of them are individually so different and unique vocally .

Yes, Zayn has always stood out, vocally. His voice is so powerful, strong and absolutely beautiful. Although I was upset when he left the band, as soon as his album came out, I was like, "BEST DECISION EVER". He is better as a solo artist, and I like being able to just focus on him when he sings. I love Zayn soooo much. Not only is he a good singer, but he's definitely model quality.😍😍😍❤❤❤❤

Zayn Malik is my most favourite singer ever. I have been following his journey since 2010 it’s been 8 years and I will follow him till the end cause I genuinely love this guy. I just told my parents my grades and my dad wanted better but I was still feeling a bit broken but watching this video has just made me happy. Zayn has a really smooth and gentle voice, and especially in Steal My Girl, you can tell those parts were made for him. It just doesn’t sound *good* with Liam singing it (no hate to Liam). Also, in some of these clips, I can tell he has performance anxiety. Just the way he’s standing, holding his mike, and his facial expressions

Yes you should check out his latest release Entertainer. Love that track. I feel Zayn has very good control, during live performances I've almost never seen him falter (there are very few live performances of his solo project). And he's very consistent as well, his live sounds incredibly identical to the studio recordings. Although I have almost no knowledge about technique, I still always felt like he sings with ease, even in the higher register. He never seems to strain. Like you noticed, he'll just be sitting/standing all chill and hitting all these notes with not much visible strain. And his runs always sound smooth (he isn't really doing anything crazy though). His live performance of It's You (title: ZAYN - iT’s YoU Live on the Honda Stage at the iHeartRadio Theater NY) is worth checking out as well. 😊

You should honestly react to all five of them. Zayn has the most emotional voice, I think he’s amazing but Liam Payne is probably the best technical singer in the band. Harry Styles has a really beautiful voice (rock edge to it). I find Niall Horan’s voice to be the most soothing. I’ve always thought that Louis Tomlinson’s voice was very interesting and unique. (I’m kinda obsessed with it) I don’t really know how to explain it 🤔 his voice sounds high and I don’t know if it’s the right word to use but also kinda polished. I find him carrying the choruses in many 1D songs. It’s weird because some people love his voice but others can’t stand it and don’t think he can sing at all.

I would recommend you to listen his album. It's an actual piece of art.

Some of Zayn's singles are really good I recommend Dusk till Dawn, Let Me, and I Don't Want to Live Forever. I would also recommend listening to Liam Payne and Harry Styles they both have evolved and some of their singles have really great vocals. They have all gone into different pathways though, especially Harry Styles.

You should react to Liam's vocals! I feel like he's so underrated, but he's really good (he has the best vocals IMO).

Honestly one of the most incredible things about One Direction is how well they fit together in every way, in terms of personality and vocality. Zayn has fantastic high notes and riffs, but he's much quieter personality-wise. Niall has a much brighter personality and brought the musical cred of playing guitar, but his voice was more unpolished early on. Liam was hard-working and determined, and his voice might be one of the most versatile I've ever heard -- fantastic falsettos, beautiful bass notes, and an incredible ability to adapt and improvise -- but as valuable as his drive was he was almost too serious sometimes. Harry also has a vibrant personality, so charismatic, and he's a fantastic all-around singer, but he was too young and too sensitive to make it alone. Louis' voice is not as technically polished, but it's so unique, and he's so good at projecting emotion when he sings so you feel every word. Plus he's so bright and friendly and funny that he draws people in and makes them want to see more. He's the leader, the glue that holds them together. He does goofy or childish things sometimes, so he can look a bit irresponsible despite being the oldest, but he's actually so mature and always looks out for all of them. Also I'm sure no one can tell who my favourite is because I'm totally not biased nope I love them all equally (just some are more equal than others)

The vocal coach I work with says that Liam Payne is the best technical singer from the band but I don’t think there’s good compilations of his high notes but he is insanely talented

When I went see him live in 2014 he sounded really bright and sweet more than he does from tv or radio. He's amazing though i was shocked his voice sounded that different.
