Hello Singderellos
In this video I react to an amazing extreme vocals maserclass! AKA 'Kingdom' by Devin Townsend. In this video, I am watching this performance for the very first time and I analyse his performance and vocal technique.
Here's a link to the original video!
• Devin Townsend perform...
For lessons, workshops and video submissions please check out my website www.thefairyvoicemother.com
I'm so excited to be a part of your singing journey, It's one that truly never ends.
Love you forever,
The Fairy Voice Mother x
.p.s. Sorry about the intense lighting change towards the end. I fought the sun so much recording this and eventually the sun won. But then again it is the sun so I guess that's a lot to be up against, so, you know. I just hope it doesn't ruin it too much for u. If it did, please blame the sun because it is less emotionally vulnerable than me.

Why does everyone cream themselves over Deadhead? It's 10+ minutes of tedious repetition with really not much in the way of vocal range from Devin. It's very interesting that you say he 'paints a picture': Devin has synesthesia, sound and vision are mingled for him (I think the neurological explanation for it is crosstalk between the optic and audial nerves) and he's said that notes have shape and colour; so for him at least, there is a literal picture he's painting.

What's amazing about him is that he has no form of training. He hates watching reactions to his music because he has no idea technically whats going on with his voice. It's pure natural talent. P.S. that vocal fry you did was very immpessive. Most people with years of training still can't do that.

He did go to three training sessions when he joined Steve Vai but the only thing he wanted to know was how to scream without causing damage to his voice. After those three training sessions he never went back.

Great vid. I’ve seen a couple but now you’ve done Devy I’ve hit subscribe. He’s my all time favourite artist and you’re now dangerously close to going down the rabbit hole that is his back catalogue. I’d love you to check out something from his latest album Empath. Maybe “Why?” from his quarantine concert? Bit of a change of pace from this track for sure!

As someone who makes their rounds on reaction channels (especially the ones that react to metal), I cannot tell you how refreshing your videos are! The only other vocal coach reactor I trust aside from you is Mary Z of Voicehacks-and she’s in a metal band. So...what I mean is that it’s lovely to see you becoming more comfortable doing more metal-style vocals. Your channel is going to be huge. With that being said, my top reaction recommendations are Leprous, Spiritbox, and Unleash the Archers. Einar, Courtney, and Brittney, respectively, are among some of the best vocalists in metal (aside from Tatiana of Jinjer and Devy). Much love to you. 🖤🤘🏻

Devin is an absolute legend, always makes me happy to see him being given some love! If you're willing to take a suggestion for a band that's a bit more obscure (in the West at least, they're popular in their home country of Japan) I'd love to hear your thoughts on the vocals of a group called Gacharic Spin. One of their lead singers, Angelina 1/3rd, has some vocals that seem really striking to me and I can't put my finger on what it is she's doing that makes her sound so different but so cool. It's like there's a raw edge to her voice but it doesn't sound uncontrolled or strained. A lot of grit gets added at various points as well. With my lack of knowledge about vocals I'm not sure how she's achieving this. This clip taken from the Naon no Yaon livestream last year of them performing their track 「超えてゆけ」(pronounced: "Koete Yuke", meaning: "Go Beyond") really shows what I mean: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dd5o6YwGedM.html
