There's deeper meaning behind this song and the story behind it. His relationship with his mother was so complicated. Being gay and raised Catholic-Mexican, she initially rejected him and disowned him. Towards the end of her life when she got sick, she repented and was filled with sorrow over how she treated him. This song was a final love letter to her and also served as his peace and forgiveness for how she treated him when he was younger. He NEVER gave up on her. This song is all about that. A mothers connection with her first born is eternal and unending. AMOR ETERNO. He is the voice of Mexico along with people like Pedro Infante and Vincente Fernandez.
Thoug this song is usually sung to our mothers in México I sing this in my head to my father who died las december, love you dad, I know you are up there in heaven watching over all of us your family.
To Us as Mexicans Juan Gabriel is one of the most powerful and talented man on earth, this song moves our emotions so deep inside our inner senses. "Amor eterno" is dedicated when a Mother or Grandma passed away because it talks about one of our greatest loves the we can meet in our lives; even just listen the song will make you cry because as you can see He burns into big emotions even if his mother passed away many years ago. We're so blessed that Juan Gabriel place the name of Mexico so high out of our borders, Juan Gabriel is our one of the most beautiful, greatest and so talented singers and composers from all of the times. Viva Juan Gabriel, viva México!!! 🎉♥️😘💐🇲🇽
I can never listen to this song without crying. The fear that I'll someday be in his shoes and be without my mother scares me more than anything. I don't fear death. I don't fear no man. Or anything. But the thought of my mother someday no longer being here makes me tear up immediately. My mother is the most sacred and precious thing I have in life.
Thank you for reacting to our DIVO de JUAREZ..this man, this artist, this composer, this showman will forever be in my soul. Growing up in a Hispanic household, his songs blasted every Saturday Morning. As we cleaned the house, song after song...great pure memories of the past that I miss so much. This song is always sang at funerals as we say goodbye to our loved ones. 😢😢😢
Even though my mom still alive I cry every time I listen to this song…. Mexico was always the home of some of the greatest singers worldwide… listen to Jose Jose, Pedro infante, Vicente Fernandez, etc.
This man is absolutely amazing! He left it all out there on stage to declare his love for his long lost mother who he misses and is wishes she was here again. I didn't grow up listening to this in NYC but after I found out who he was, what he went through, and his ability to sing, entertain, describe, paint, story tell in all his songs and live performances, I was hooked. I list him as one of the best singers of all time and definitely the best Latin/Hispanic singer of all time. He will be missed, RIP Juan Gabriel.
Whenever he sings with such explosive emotions and/or you hear those truly deep and poetic lyrics, you really can't help it but to have a bit of a teary eye :.)
its insane how its so powerful that you don´t even talk about his vocal tecnique. That gets pushed aside due to the feeling and emotion that this songs conveys. This is one of our national anthems, we mexicans drop hearing this song. Its so good that in spanish its very very very strong, its hard to translate to english due to the cultural diference, however, just the translation and the singing does the job to connect one side of the world to the other.
Beautiful reaction Rebecca ! So many people have cried watching this video. Mexican families all over the world normally play this “beautiful anthem” at a loved one’s funeral to bid them farewell. I saw him live twice and I have to say they were the best concerts ever. To gauge his concerts, I’ll tell you who I’ve seen. Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, CCR, The Eagles, Santana, all MOTOWN, Madona, Shakira, Gypsy Kings, Luis Miguel, etc, etc. The closest one was SELENA! Now a Mexican three sister Rock band called “The Warning” is igniting my senses!
Go watch a tool concert, I´ve seen, Pink Floyd, Santana, Pearl Jam, Van halen, U2, Juan Gabriel 3 times, Luis Miguel, Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Elton john, Primus. And the TOOL concerts I´ve been are the winners.
a fun fact about this presentation, he modified the lyrics, he added some things and improvised during the show, that’s why we feels more emotional!! Juan Gabrial was a great artist, who can do this and many more things in the moment and still sound great, even more than the og 🙌🏻
This song has killed me as of late, it was already one of my favorite Juan Gabriel songs but now that it's been a year since my father's passing from cancer, it has been a gut punch every single time I listen to it.
Lovely Rebecca, at 6:20 the song places the passion and pain into focus as the musicians are taking a back seat to his vocals. Juan is taking us into that dark place of raw emotion with him as he petitions his emotions directly to his mother. This is a timeless masterpiece. 8:20 is the crescendo of the song. This is art and emotion in their purest forms. I like to think that this level of passion can transcend life and death and that his mom heard him loud and clear. Thank you for your reaction to this work of art. ❤
Gracias amiga.❤🇨🇱👌🇮🇹
Such a beautiful and sad song. There’s this younger kid named Xavi his music is amazing and his voice and singing style will blow your mind I’d love for you to react to songs like la victima or la diabla incredible songs😁
This is my favorite performance of his and one of my top performances of any artist ever. The song is absolutely beautiful, the subtitles don't do it justice. And honestly some things cannot be translated from one language to another, I am not sure if that makes sense but there is poetry to his words that can only fully be appreciated in spanish.
Hi Rebecca! I’m from Ecuador and saw this reaction and I loved it Juan Gabriel. Please could you to do reaction to Mar Rendón. She is a Ecuadorian singer and has a beautiful voice. She is mezzo-soprano. The name of the last single is SOLO RUIDO. But if you would want to react to her voice, there is a song ANTES DE DE TE VAYAS in acustic and it’s beautiful! Please, give us all the fans that emotion with your reactions.
He is truly amazing! He is known by his "voz llorada" (crying voice) as he sings. He always puts big emotion behind his performances! Rebecca, it would be great if you reacted to Rocío Dúrcal singing this same song. Juan Gabriel often would write songs for her and she also sang a lot of songs that he used to sing. She is truly masterful and her performance of Amor Eterno rivals that of Juan Gabriel.
Great reaction, Rebecca! I would like to recommend you to listen and react Lola Beltran’s performance of Paloma Negra. You would love it. 👌🏻 Love from 🇲🇽.
Everytime I hear this song it makes me miss my exes mom a lot. She was my mum & felt more at home around her than my own family, taught me a lot & even though the girl & I aren't together I would still show if she called. She's an amazing lady
You need to listen to Juanjo Bona's Without You version or El Patio, they are both brutal. Also check his first single Lo que no ves de mí, you will most definetely be mesmerized by his vocals. He's also very known for singing a jota, which are vocally exigent regional chants, called La Magallonera; you must hear that too. I swear you won't regret it one bit
This is a song almost like an anthem, to almost all us Mexican, we dedicated and sing at our loves one that pass away on funerals and throug life, my mom lose our little brother 20 years ago and she can't hear this song with out crying of sadnes, love and happiness remembering her little son
This is the song my mom requested be played at her funeral. She died on January 10th. Song has been burned into the pieces of what was left of my heart.
