don't worry, completely understand that you mean no hate! and this video has definitely gone through some post production tweaks like other programmes typically do. but they were definitely NOT lip-synching in this performance - it's actually pretty easy to tell with SHINee when they do. in this performance they were clearly singing live and doing a pretty damn good job at is as they usually do. hope you could do an actual live one someday (one of their concert clips) so you can have a listen to what they're capable of without all that post-editing :)

They weren’t lip syncing. It’s probably just editing…some kind of layover. You can tell when they lip sync because they make it super obvious that they’re lip syncing because they hate it, but that was more so earlier on in their career.

Ohh. The breathiness was the answer. Many people are actually quite intrigued about how the members has different tone/quality yet when they sing together it doesn't sound like their voices clash. About the video, I personally don't like this one. There's too much editing. I actually don't think it's live as in live. Hahaha. I prefer the concert or the music show version. They are more raw. I guess this version was requested so that you can hear their voices clear or because of the views. I actually don't know.

I wonder what will be his reaction to them singing Love Like Oxygen while exercising/jogging when they were teenagers.

My thought on Jonghyun ( the guy with the orange blazer) on why he was apprehensive was because his note was suppose to go higher but he had to make the adjustment. The leader Onew (who sang first and last; far left) has many amazing covers on the show “sea of hope” /“the sea I desire”. Really good performances to react to his vocals. He has great control, techniques. Very skillful and can sing in any range effortlessly. Also, rainy blue, blue and Nessun Dorma. SHINee as a group and solo are amazing artists to react to vocally. Please keep going with them.

When you said it was remastered, it was actually the studio version edited over the live performance. I think there’s a version of this that has the actual live performance vocal but honestly it doesn’t differ as much, if anything the live version is a bit better than the studio version cause they’re such consistent performers. 😊

Appreciate your analysis and explanations. Us fans usually just know they offer great harmony and texture and emotion in their songs so it is nice to hear some science to why we love them. Other songs they have that really showcase their vocals and harmony, check out Symptoms, Prism, Odd Eye, Honesty, Beautiful Life, Ode to You. :) The man with the cap (Key) also recently released a solo album and I think you will love Bad Love for its many layers.

Just would like to mention that in this performance they were still only 19 to 23 yr old...

Just a question, but why did you not include Jonghyun's picture in your thumbnail image for this reaction? SHINee is a 5 member group and Jonghyun is the main vocalist. He is the one in the orange jacket in this performance. SHINee would not be SHINee without him. The order you see the members of SHINee sitting in, is the order that they always sit or stand in since debut days. They will always stand with Onew on the left, Taemin next to him, Jonghyun in the middle, Minho next and Key on the right. Even their starting positions in their choreography will often have them standing in this order. You almost never see them in interviews or in press photos, not in that order. I don't think this audio was remastered. I think it was actually the studio version edited over the live performance. All I can guess is this video had audio quality issues that made it hard to hear SHINee singing. If you listen to the original performance you can hear how outstanding they are live. There are tons of other performances where you can hear they are singing live, and believe it or not, they won't sound much different than what you just heard, and you might even think it sounds even better. SHINee are known for their live vocals, and when they sing live they almost always outshine their studio recordings. :D
