Arnell Pinedas voice gives me goosebumps. That guy has gorgeous high notes...for a caliber band like Journey to see something and pick him....thats like winning the lottery.

I love that Arnel had no professional training prior to journey yet still was amazing. Fronting Journey provided him with the professional tools to preserve and prolong his singing voice. I love all his covers with the zoo. He was able to sell me on every song. A true vocal chameleon. He is a great guy and I am a huge fan.

Just saw Journey in concert last night 3/20/23. My daughter had got us tickets when I mentioned in passing I wish I would have went to a Journey concert when I was a kid. While excited to go, I didn’t expect the lead singer to meet the expectations of Steve Perry’s. I WAS WRONG! Arnel Pineda was FANTASTIC! I had no idea who he was until last night, I’ve read his story what an impressive man. Congratulations on your success!

Arnel is an underrated vocalist. He’s actually pretty amazing on what he can do with his vocals were only quite a few can actually do. Only those really gifted ones, I should say.

I love all the classic music.. but Arnels voice is so powerful and the soul on his voice is so amazing. He always brings me to tears.

That voice youre hearing now is a "past his prime" Arnel.. he had a lot more range and power in his voice in his 20's.. he was hired as a 40 year old by journey.. even now as a 50+ year old hes still belting it..

What a raw voice!. In my honest opinion, nobody can top Steve's voice when singing journeys' ballad songs, but when it comes to who has the most talent, I prefer Arnel, because he is a TOTAL PERFORMER. He can rile-up people by his moves and most of all, he can sing ROCK SONGS, which I believe up to these days, best suited for his voice. Please make a reaction of him singing ROXANNE and also try to google young Arnel Pineda singing others songs. You will be surprised how his voice was way better than today.

I am guilty of not wanting to hear Steve's replacement. However just last year I listened to Arnel and was so impressed. I really do love his voice and love that he was discovered on You Tube.

If you've seen the documentary of Arnel's Everyman's journey, Jonathan Cain became his vocal coach while on tour and there was a part when they were in hotel in Manila, where Jonathan was teaching him the right pronunciation...😍love love Arnel..

Thank you! That put off all negative comments about Arnel. All haters thought that anyone could sing the songs of Journey, saying he's too karaoke. If what they were saying was true, Neal Schon and the rest of the Journey, shouldnt have had such a hard time looking for the new lead singer. I know he's very talented but I have more admiration for him now.

wow! I am 78 my daughter introduced me to Journey, love this ! In 2008 I asked her who was her favorite band, I have seven children took in cousin who introduced us to CCR 1974 all kinds of music in their rooms but I loved country, since my husband died in 06 he liked all that forties and fifties stuff, I am so lucky to be able to enjoy so many things on you.tube!!!!

I used to watch him together with friends in shakey's pizza restaurant with a live band. He was 15 yesrs old then. He performed with the late yhoz band later amo band.

.. and Arnel's been doing that with Journey for the past 12 years or so, past his prime.

Great observation Adam! One thing to note is that he was in a bar cover band that would play almost everyday of the week from afternoon to sometimes 2am as very common in the Philippines so his voice could've been fatigued making reaching the higher notes more difficult. I also observed just from watching journey live throughout the arnel years from 2008 to present that the 10+ years of continuously touring has had quite a toll on his vocal range and vocal quality. IMO Arnel in 2012 was the peak.

I am a die hard Journey fan. I must admit I was not up to seeing anyone replace Steve Perry. When I was five years old Steve Perry's voice made me cry and fall in love at the same time. And I didn't know what love was but he made me feel it. Lol. When I heard Arnel's voice it is absolutely undeniably amazing. His range is insane. I will give him his props and congratulate him on his success. He is living his dreams of performing on Legendary Journey status. I did have to watch this video a few times because Adam is so cute and very distracting I kept forgetting to watch the video.😍

As a long time Journey fan, I’ve enjoyed all the way from Escape as one of my first album purchases as a kid, to Raised on Radio in concert at the Ohio State Fair... my musical tastes have expanded so much in the last couple decades. Heck, have had phases focusing on genres from death metal to contemporary Christian to lately sound tracks from Korean dramas (and some Chinese dramas!) lol. Throughout it all though, Journey has always remained my favorite all time band, even after Steve left. I was never an Arnel hater, he sounds different but similar to Steve in my poorly cultured ears! I really enjoyed your commentary, and it’s given me something to consider and was informative. Thanks! 😉😊
