Unapologetic Creed fan for the past 15 years. You absolutely need to react to a video of their original run! Scott Stapp does had a very underrated, almost hidden vocal range in his heyday.

I've seen Creed in concert, twice, before all the breakdown and drama occurred. When they tried to get back together, they were never the same and Stapp's voice took a hard hit. It's a shame because I loved their music in the early days. Thanks for another great reaction!

Saw Creed before they broke up and Stapp had to conquer his demons. Gotta respect the guy for dealing with it finally. Anyway, saw them in 2002, awesome concert btw , and he sounded way better in that concert than he does here. Luckily he's still making music and sounds pretty damn good again. Peace.

And I was fortunate to be in front of him during the entire concert, this guy can play!! Beth, you should react to Mark Tremonti singing Frank Sinatra! Freaking awesome 🤩

Still love Creed to this day! Their run from 1997-2001 was incredible! Then soon after, the lead singer kinda went off the rails lol. But early Creed was actually quite good! They're kinda a shell of their former selves in this performance, but STILL better than most other early 2000s Hot Topic bands haha.

Its unfortunate that most of the early years of Creed were all filmed with potatoes but they are truly worth the inconvenience of quality because Scott's voice in those early years is truly something that must be heard to be appreciated. Yes you can generally hear it on the studio albums but in many cases its even better live much like Chris Stapleton. This time period in the video is like a transitional period for his voice. Like he had to learn to sing as he does now, without the unequaled natural talent he had as young man. There are glimpses here but its just not the same Scott.

I’d be interested to see what you think of the singer (Scott Stapp) now. The 2009 video wasn’t when he was at his best vocally or health wise. Stapp has really worked hard and runs 5k per day, has been sober a long time and eats healthily. Bear in mind this song he’s performed at every gig for 22 years, This is a recent performance ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dFSGbsLEKHk.html

Unearned disrespect just for happening to crush the charts. Granted, I get how their singles could get a lil tiresome(but they were never as repetitive sounding as I think Nickelback has had a habit of); but they had some HEAVY stuff on their albums - still love listening to 'Bound & Tied' every so often, killer track! You flatten the back of your tongue and press it hard against the sides of the meat behind your rear molars. I used to cover this song and many others in my youth with a "garage band". The way she explains it works, but is really taxing on your tongue and you won't make it through a set. My version does however use a little more air for the same result.

Scott Stapp was on the verge of greatness. Some of their success was well-deserved. But, hearing live versions like this make me cringe a bit. He always sounds a bit flat when he sings live. He just isn't quite getting up to the notes at the end of his phrases. My ears just can't resolve those notes and it makes it really hard to listen to a full song of theirs. Now, that first album was on repeat in my car's CD player back in the day. I was definitely a fan. I think Scott's in a better frame of mind and body now and I'm glad to know that.

Stapp’s voice was pretty wasted when this was filmed. After his breakdown, when he was living in his car, he seemed to get back on track and sorted his voice out, as his most recent solo album wasn’t too shabby. Unfortunately he still appears to be a bit of an arse though, as he was sued by his Art of Anarchy bandmates a few years back 🤦‍♂️ I was a big Creed fan back in the late 90s / early 00s, but they’re nothing compared to Alter Bridge 🤘

Unfortunately he got lumped into that “ripping off Eddie Vedder” style, which wasnt entirely undeserved, since just about no one really sang like that before Eddie, and Pearl Jam were huge just a couple years earlier. Still, Scott did have a great vocal tone, esp once he got away from the “mouthful of marbles” sound. Unlike a lot of my fellow music lovers from the time, I actually rather liked Creed and Nickelback, and most of the other post-Grunge bands. They were popular for a reason, because they were really good! It was essentially the same as Grunge, with the jagged edges filed down just enough to be palatable for mainstream audiences, which is why the original Grunge bands never lasted very long in original form … because Grunge was basically Punk-meets-Black-Sabbath. Blunt the sharp, prickly punk edges down and voila… Post-Grunge.

Musically Creed were good (despite what haters would have you believe) but I've never been able to stand Stapp. Both his voice, his stage persona and the off stage dramatics weren't for me. Alter Bridge is a better band in every conceivable way. Tremonti has been able to develop into the behemoth of a player and songwriter he is today and Kennedy has one of the all time great voices of rock as well as a m incredible guitarist. Alter Bridge have nearly been together for 20 years, just consistently making great music. I know some Creed fans what another reunion but I think it's time to stop flogging a dead horse.
