Hello Aleksandra, I am from Venezuela, I do not know how to write in English correctly but I will try, sorry if I write something wrong or with little sense. Lana’s authenticity is something that has always characterized her, she always refused to be molded by the record label and has never knelt before the industry, she has always been faithful to her style, both musical and image. Lana has a very varied musical taste and has always experienced and has been able to merge them together, creating her own and very characteristic style. The same with her voice, from the beginning she played a lot with her voice, not everyone understood it ... I think she was well ahead of her time. Lana is unique and has influenced and opened the doors to many of these new artists, I definitely believe that if Lana had not broken the mold, this industry would continue with the same parameters as always and there would be no place for a lot of artists who are characterized by look and sound different. Lana has been a pioneer in this industry, maybe now is too soon to notice it, but I think Lana has been a key player in the music industry, I think there is a before and after since Lana came to light. Aleksandra, I hope you are able to find and watch the entire concert, which was a tribute to Leonard Cohen, put on just shortly after he died. I watched it live, or at least when it was first aired. The entire concert was moving and beautiful, but I remember being especially moved by this duet. I was there watching as an LC fan, and didn’t really know Lana or Adam at that time, but this performance put them both on my radar.

I like your analysis. I'm pretty sure this came from the Tower of Song tribute concert in Montreal not long after LC passed.

I enjoyed your review immensely. You can get the full Tower of Song concert on RU-vid Movies for $9.99 Canadian. It was on the first anniversary of Leonard Cohen's death, in Montreal. Here is the info on the concert listing the performers: "A star-studded tribute concert to honour Leonard Cohen, featuring renowned artists including Coeur de Pirate, Elvis Costello, Lana del Rey, kd lang, Bettye Lavette, Courtney Love, Damien Rice, Ron Sexsmith, Sting, Patrick Watson, Wesley Schultz & Jeremiah Fraites of the Lumineers, and Adam Cohen." Initially the full video was available free on RU-vid, but the CBC which aired the concert on TV owned the rights and found there was such a demand for it, they removed it from the free side and charge the very small fee for it. I bought it and never regret it.

No, Lana created herself. I was ignorant to artists too. Lana has stayed and I remember an elderly vocal coach telling me Lana was “talk singing” in ride, and another born to die song and I’m like okay. And she has a whole life and background, she just is who she is. I never found her manufactured. She was creating her brand and name. She just looks *too beautiful*, that is why people have that stereotype of a pop star manufactured. But honestly people don’t really get manufactured. They definitely can be by the business and many of them break out of then she’ll the industry put them in. And have the money to not need the giant companies and sponsors you know? Like I judged Ariana grande, and so many more amazing singers and a lot of us did. Our brains are wired in a way, we can change it and you being aware of it with yourself and LANADELREY is you being more self aware. And that’s change.
