On July 31st, our 13 year old son lost his mom and I my wife of 24 years. The Trilogy came out at about that time frame and it helped me to stay away from dark places and focus on my son and his future. Thank You, Metal, for saving my life. Bands like i.e., Lorna Shore, Evergrey, Darkwater, I-Exist, Nightwish, Rammstein (the Zeit album came out during her worst time), Volbeat, Dream Theater, and so many others that are too many to list here were equal parts of the journey to learn to cope with the pain. If this LS Trilogy does not bring you to tears, you have yet to endure hardness in your life. At 57 years old, I had to learn that I can cry rivers of tears... And I am proud of every single one of them!!! 🤘🏻😭🤘🏻

The thing that really impressed me about the trilogy? The composition, instrumentals, vocals ? Nope what impressed me is the way most people get personally involved with the story told, and the protagonist in the video. The fact that it's so compelling, heartbreaking makes it art. Still makes me cry. Painfully beautiful and cathartic. I believe the music and lyrics came first. The entire album is a concept album having to do with lucid dreaming, and the world that was created. In that timeline, the trilogy is the part where it all comes crashing down. The album lyrics are Will's, the storyline for the trilogy videos come from guitarist Adam De Micco.
@theopinson3851
@theopinson3851 Год назад
Yep. If you’re interested in having your heart broken all over again, read the lyrics and follow the album story. Apparently it’s based on a random side character from an Anime Will watched as a kid who had fallen in love with a character in their dream world and couldn’t take living in the waking world without them. Pretty incredible how the two different stories work so well together.

Since you were heartbroken about this, here's something will lift you up a bit: pain remains (the album, not the trilogy) is a concept album in which a man starts to dream and become a god in his imaginary world he created himself by dreaming. with this information the whole story of the pain remains trilogy just turn from a tragedy in which a man first lose his loved one, then try to kill himself, then tries again and finally succeed by also burning away the memory of her to a sad story for sure, but with an happy ending or sort: a man (well, actually, a god) lose his loved one, then try to kill himself....then tries again, finally succeed by returning to his real world in which he was just a man and basically moving on from a world which wasn't really real in the first place. Sure that world was beatiful since it lasted but since she was dead there's was no point anymore in it, so he just burn everything away, moved on and returned to the "real" world. Not an happy story for sure but at least it's not just a tragedy of two people just dying by sickness and suicide.

You don't always have to react as a vocal coach. When the art as a whole is this moving, just react as a human, like you did. 🖤 Great job and Thank you!!! I've seen this a couple of time times now. Mostly through reactors or while also reading the lyrics. Not to much yet just for my own listen. One thing I noticed this time (I'll have to listen some more to see if its consistent) I think the lyrics and vocals are always representing his inner thoughts and torment. While the music might me representing his outward appearance or the mask he is wearing for the world to see. While you were talking about the music being more melodic, he was quietly sitting. Then when the music became more 'chaotic', it was when he was throwing things and preparing to do harm. Maybe it just worked out that way for the couple of scenes I noticed. Maybe I'm reading too much into it. I'm not sure.

9:58 As I understand it, and I may be wrong, Adam (lead guitar, the guy that does the shredding solos) is their composer and lyricist, and about 1.5 - 2 years ago was going through a massive depressive period, in the more extreme end of depression. Much like with Nightwish after they dismissed Tarja, where Tuomas wrote "The Poet and The Pendulum," Adam committed "musical suicide" through Pain Remains I-III. So, in terms of your question, the concept came first, the music and lyrics came next, and when they knew they had an absolutely revolutionary trilogy, they very intelligently did the music videos with a "visual novel" style of story, with each part getting its own theme (rain, snow, fire) to reflect the emotions of sadness, despair, rage.

They glide so well together while being very different. The first one ending on. " Am I just a ghost just like you, caught between the Seams of two intertwining melodies? " Leading into the second song, where hope is gone, and he might be alive, but living like a ghost, the second song is the time between melodies. So the ending of the first song leads to the expressions of the second. And then to the 3 where it about getting past the empty space between melodies. Where he is no longer a ghost just acting, but the emotions he is feeling is acting through him. Pain, anger, everything. The attempt in the second part was the uncontrolled action, the lack of everything. While the choice in the 3 was made with and understanding what he felt his life had become. Ending the trilogy with the words " Dancing like flames, after all that I've done I'll salt the earth and disappear in a sea of fire " Dancing like Flames being part 1 All that I've done being part 2 In a Sea of fire being part 3 And the 3 also bind the first part into it again, after the half part of the song, with the sort of breakdown, the melody and flow goes through some of the same waves we heard in the first song- ending with the bells and string actually playing through the same notes, but it start before that leading up to it. So both the story and the music is brought back together at the end. Same way life starts and end the same place, in all forms. no matter the start or the end. You never know where you start. And when you are at the end, it does not really matter. It was the choices and feelings between the melodies you experiences along the way that guided you to what ever end you had. The two things in life that does not matter to you, is the start, and the ending. because you are not there to deal with them or experience them. Yet it is those two things that mean the most when all is said and done. Because what ever you did with your life, those you loved, and those you hurt is all because your life started. And your actions in between the melodies is what you will be remembered for.

As I'm laying in my hospital bed after being admitted for observation as they changed my anti depressants in 2 weeks time and I'm now on the 3rd week, I can say that this trilogy has caused a storm in my head again. The thought of the sweet release of death and an end to my suffering for these past 6 years that I've been on this mental rollercoaster. A ride that really showed me just how deep you can sink mentally. But the fact that I'm going to be an uncle gave me the strength to push through, not for myself just yet, but for her, my family and friends. In time I'll be able to find joy in it for myself but until then I'll cling to this lifeline, this little ray of love and hope that will be my niece.

Adam, the guitarist, wrote the music first. He's said that he was going through a *really* tough time with this album, and I think it shows in the music itself. Then Will wrote the vocals, the entire album acts as a concept based on his memories of warching anime when he was younger, essentially someone lucid dreaming a world that they have complete control over. These three tracks function as the finale where the protagonist realizes the dream life, and someone in it, have become more real to him than real life and he burns it all down to escape. But at the same time, the message of loss and pain and heartbreak resonate so strongly that the idea of these videos probably wasn't much of a stretch to reach. I adore this whole album, but these three tracks at the end are truly Art in a way most music doesn't quite reach.

It's like going from one extreme emotion to the opposite emotion in a split second. I've had it happen. Not in the same way depicted in the video, but I know that EXACT feeling. Going from extremely sad to angry in seconds. It's so cool the way they were able to depict that in not just the video, but within the realm of extreme music as well. They're fucking brilliant.

13:02 You'll also notice how much of a journey the 20 minute track is in that it starts with rain for the first 30 or so seconds, and it fades out to the anti-thesis of water with a crackling fire as the only sound. From sadness to, as the final phrase of the lyrics go, "Dancing like flames after all that I've done/I'll salt the earth and disappear in a sea of fire." A recall to the title of part I (dancing like flames), then part II (After All That I've Done), concluding with the title of part III (In A Sea of Fire) to close out the trilogy.

I think the first part of the trilogy is the best still, it caught me totally off guard. I was not mentally prepared to be emotionally moved by a deathcore song. That said, the way they built the trilogy with the first having the rain, the second it's turned to snow and the last is the sea of fire is such a good idea! I think they are sort of stages of grief, with the first one being sorrow/sadness, second one being depression and third one is anger. Unfortunate that the protagonist couldn't overcome the third stage though, never arriving at the fourth step, acceptance.

this trilogy hits me differently, its not the concept, not even the story but the lyrics just out of pure honesty. those who went through real pain, facing and fighting the same demon everyday, until it reaches the point where there is no room left for happiness, no purpose of smiling and no point of controlling the chaos anymore, and just let it be till u actually forget what is happiness and what its like to be loved. just burn everything.

Hi Beth. Regarding Lorna Shore there's little more we can say that hasn't been said before. Being one of the few pros that react to extreme vocals I'd like to bring to your attention a band that literally blew my mind vocallywise. That's the vocal playthrough ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cdq5KmiyJ7c.html and I am very curious what'd you say about that man... Gosh, to me he sounds even more inhuman that Will. Have a great New Year! Cheers!

A lot of metalcore is really uplifting. Killswitch Engage do a lot of positive music for example.

@@thewretch4081 I understand that deathcore is a branch of metalcore, so I don't think I was so wrong either, I made a comment that I didn't mean to offend, just to imply that this trilogy will make rain for everyone who thought that this style is just grunts and squeals

The way that Will explained these three songs, the video doesn't match the lyrics in a literal way, but certainly does in a figurative way.

Could you listen to WHEN DEATH UNCHAINS THE SPECTRE by OBSIDIAN GATE…. Obsidian gate is one of the most underrated symphonic black metal bands. The album was orchestrated by professionals and it shows, one of the most beautiful songs even as a black metal song lol. (I think the piece is in C minor)
