ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?

I listened to this live, years ago on triple J. I had just pulled up to work. I literally sat in my car for about 20 minutes after it finished, late for work, but completely and utterly overcome. Still the best live performance I have ever heard. Bravo Matt Corby.

YES! MATT CORBY! Ugh, he has SUCH amazing music, I don't even know where to begin. I was lucky enough to see him live twice and I even met him once (after standing outside in the cold until 2 am lol). To say I'm a fan is an understatement and I'm so happy you know him now. It would be amazing if you could react to more of his live stuff. For example, Souls A'Fire or Lay You Down / Song For from Live on the Resolution Tour. He does some vocal acrobatics there that I think you'll love! (I mean, like a male Beyoncé, maybe even better) Love your videos Rebecca!

Phenomenal singing, so much soul, so much emotion you can not explain it, just listen and let it sink in. One thing I would like to point out is the guitar playing. It brings so much more to the song and this performance, and not in an intrusive way. It is so in harmony with the flow of the song and beautiful to listen to, perfect. Try to focus on just the guitar (hard to ignore his great voice) and the way he masterfully brings the sound level higher and higher and deepens the chords with adding the bass strings to the riffs with the song's progression. I am amazed by this. Thank you, Rebecca, very much for this song's discovery! P.S. I don't comment a lot on RU-vid, but had to express my appreciation for this song and performance. Amazing!

Oh yeh, Matt Corby is an exellent singer- songwriter, well known up north here in Norway🇳🇴 Brother is a song many has tried to cover. I have heard one version I often listen to. It’s done by a group called «Uncle Jed». the female singer sings in a way that touches my heart❤️

@@angelwings6186 There’s more of us around than one might think!! I’ve not lost a parent but I lost my brother about 5 years ago. 2016. I was on life support for 5 days from a severe throat infection (epiglottitis), probably due to immunosuppressives, at one hospital and my brother was in an induced coma because of sudden, unexpected liver failure at another hospital. I woke up in ICU to the news that my brother didn’t get his transplant in time and died. I had a lot of guilt about being the one who woke up. Anyway, the even stranger part of the story is that he had undiagnosed autoimmune hepatitis for a long time which destroyed his liver. The point is, I understand chronic illness and I understand grief. They both change you forever. Even now, 5 years later, I might not have thought about him for a week and then the grief will hit me, as raw as it was the first time and it literally feels like a punch to the gut and it takes my breath away it’s so powerful. It’s mostly at night when I’m tossing and turning and I can’t switch my brain off.

This is kind of odd, especially since I don't usually share it, but I lost my eldest sister to AIDs when I was 15. Well, pneumonia but you get what I mean. Her funeral was 9/11, like the 9/11. My parents tried to shield me from her illness so when she died, I took it really hard. It's nothing compared to coming out of a coma and finding your world changed forever. At all. That's just...I don't even have words. Cruel and unfair and I really wish I could give you the biggest hug. Losing people just sucks.

Matt corby is truly a remarkable vocalist. I haven’t been a huge fan of his 2 albums like I was about his singles before, but every time he’s in town I still need to see him perform. Absolutely incredible and this isn’t even my favourite live version of this song.

At age 16, Matt Corby auditioned for the 5th season of Australian Idol in 2007 where he finished as runner-up! I'm in Texas, USA and I'm probably one of the few Americans that actually got to see Australian Idol, I always downloaded the episodes with Bit-Torrent at the time. I loved the show and I really liked Matt a lot, he was my favorite and what a talent. I'm really glad he's still around and in the business doing what he does best, thanks for posting this video Rebecca, a very pleasant surprise indeed!

My fave by him. I cannot count how many times I have listened to him sing this sing and it never gets old for me. I always get chills and am totally moved even though I know every note coming. Super powerful and just gorgeous. I love watching your reactions. You and I would have fun listening to music together. We both love it, get it, and have similar tastes. Honestly. Even though there's no music video for it, the only other performance I know that floods utter truth and absolute belief in a song is Bob Dylan performing "Blind Willie McTell". It is purity from a very, very jaded performer heading into his darkest period. Just a profound song to hear.

Matt Corby.. great voice. You speak of emotion and connection. Do you ever find that if you cover a song that you feel a connection to, you can sing and your voice breaks like youre on the verge of a little cry. I have that sometimes. Like Chris Cornell nothing compares to you. Such a great version.
