Origin of Symmetry album was an absolute masterpiece

It was all downhill from that album. Don't get me wrong, I love Absolution and Black Holes is decent, but I think OoS was their peak.

@@zeratul78 Agreed. Showbiz and Origin of Symmetri was really good. I remember back in the late 90's & early 00's when I was a big fan of Muse and couldn't understand why they weren't widely popular among the masses. Then something happened in 2003 or something like that when the song Unintended all of a sudden got attention. It was all downhill from that moment as they fell into the pop culture hole. Oh well, as long as Tool don't do the same. (:

Wow. "His voice is like a guitar" is probably the best analogy for how he is able to create the near seamless connection between his vocals and the rest of the band. This is why I find them to be so captivating because when you listen to them, you're not just listening to the guitar of the drums or bass, you're listening to ALL of it in concert so to speak. Love your take on it! SUBBING!! :D

The album version of Muscle Museum is him singing a guitar solo at the end of it
@patersor
@patersor 3 года назад
He's playing rythym on guitar and playing lead with his voice. In a three piece where he's both (in the early days at least), perhaps he had to pull double duty and that fed into his song writing / performances?

Your observation about Matt's falsetto sounding like a guitar note is spot on. There are many songs where he purposely sings in a way that blends into the actual guitar notes he's playing, becoming almost indistinguishable.
@epicnessofdoughnuts
@epicnessofdoughnuts 5 лет назад
Around @3:50 you say he sounds like a guitar. Well, supposedly, on showbiz (muscle museum I believe) he messed up the guitar solo during the recording and so he just sang it and added distortion in post. It sounds just like a real guitar. Matt Bellamy is insane.
@SpriteNeos
@SpriteNeos 5 лет назад
I'm pretty sure he sang into the microphone through the guitar amp and speaker. And if I'm not wrong I dont think it was ever supposed to be a guitar solo there
@Tocaraca

SpriteNeos I heard that in an interview he said he was going to do a guitar solo, but he messed up a note so he just plugged his microphone into the guitar amp instead and sung the solo
@MortSubitegoddamnit
@MortSubitegoddamnit 5 лет назад
You can really hear the obviousness of it being his voice in the Soulwax remix, which is way more stripped down in terms of instrumentation, and its easier to discern that the timbre is simply not that of a guitar. It's especially obvious in the way the notes bend, as its kind of difficult to achieve that quality of bending notes like that on guitar. You can get close, for sure, but there are just subtle things here and there that give it away. Professional singer/producer/multinstrumentalist for over 20 years here, for reference.
@deathwitheponine
@deathwitheponine 5 лет назад
SpriteNeos you’re half right (the 1st half). He intended to play it on guitar but missed the 1st chord and just decided to sing it instead, according to musewiki
@Mishro22
@Mishro22 5 лет назад
@@MortSubitegoddamnit he's not saying that it's not his voice in the recording... he's saying it wasn't originally intended to be a vocal line... it was an improvisation due to him botching the first part of the guitar solo. 20 years of music experience, but very little reading comprehension it seems.

Uggh most overrated singer of the past three decades in rock. He mumbles everything and has no range compared to someone like Matt Bellamy. The worst is when much better singers (see Scott Weiland of STP) get accused of being Eddie Vedder clones because they sing in their baritone range (which is pretty uncommon in modern rock music.) That said, Black is an excellent song and very emotional, so at least your choice is decent.

Love Muse! Thanks for reacting! I’ve seen them a couple of times live and they’re allways great. Saw them first time at the Roskilde Festival in the early 2000’s. The drummer had lost his dad a couple of days prior and they were all quite moved by it, dedicating the concert to hum. They delivered one of the most memorable, heartgrabbingly sincere concerts I’ve ever seen! Getting the chills now, just thinking about it.

"He sounds like a guitar" if you haven't already you have to listen to muscle museum, when recording I think his guitar had issues so he sang into the amp, and I think that's where he got that sound from the he uses multiple times later on

@@duckspy436 yeah it's amazing, and it sounds good too, though to me personally I never really mistook it for a guitar solo I have seen people think it is

He sounds more like Jeff Buckley than Mercury, to me, but ok.

@@sullyvan162 he isn't screaming during falsetto. Two very different positions are being used.

Me and my friends call this vocal phrases special. He’s using early opera melodies.

He couldn't get the guitar sound he wanted on Muscle Museum so he just did it with his voice instead! It's the solo part at the end of the song. Amazing.
