ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IfmKAkVfvgA.html. I was there at the field in Florence. Most heavy music thing I ever witnessed 'live'. Entire field felt it.
YEAH! Guess its cause thats his natural voice... Of course hes pushing it to the limit, but it really sound like his natural signature. And gess, such a gifted one.
I partially agree with this. I mean, he still sounds great but he can no longer sing like he did in this video. She's right, some of those notes wouldn't be good for him in the long run and probably took their toll. If you listen to Eddie now it's a bit of a slower pace, he enunciates more and the sound is a bit more folksy vs. the grittier sound in this video.
Rodney Wallace - Yes! Thank you! I could never find the right to words to explain why this song is so perfect and heartbreaking. No matter how many times I’ve listened to it over the years it still makes me feel every second.
I'm really impressed by your professionalism in not mentioning that 90s Eddie was probably the sexiest man walking this earth. Hell, I can't even think or talk about anything Eddie related without referencing that at least once 😂
"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life I know you'll be a star In somebody else's sky But why... Why... Why can't it be Why can't it be mine" Still the best lyrics ever written, gets me everytime
4 1/2 unbelievable hours in 2014 last european gig of the tour in Milton Keynes. We almost couldn't take it anymore at the end... out of this world, one of my favourite clairvoyants ever. Werchter in July :) acn't wait!!
I like that she is genuinely worried about Ed's singing being bad for his well being. It's probably best she doesn't watch any of his scaffold climbing/stage diving videos from about that time. I still get nervous and I know he turned out fine.
Same here. I've had a crush on this woman since I first stumbled across her reaction videos. And Pearl Jam, well, I could probably write a book on the impact them and their music have had on my life. As I'm sure so many others can as well. So yeah, it was a quick click! LoL!
"I know some day you'll have a beautiful life. I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky. But why? Why? Why....can it be, can it be mine?" Fuck man. In all my 32 years of listening to all types of music, that lyric sums up every broken feeling I have had about a relationship gone bad. The only other band that I hear, that have lyrics I can feel in my soul, is Tool. But this song is amazing.
João Pedro Ribeiro Leandro I’m sure he could. I want to tell her, it sounds unhealthy but that’s just his bad ass voice lol ... definitely pain in his singing though, more than anything just realness!!
Eddie Vedder is the ultimate singer at conveying emotion. Many of their songs off that first album are intensely personal to him. He STILL brings it to this day. Their shows are as great as ever.
While he may be able to still nominally hit the notes now, he cannot generate the power or intensity that he could here. Aging stinks, but so does Eddie's smoking habit. Additionally, this style just isn't conducive to longevity. There's a reason she is cringing when he's reaching the climax of this song. She should definitely avoid listening to "Blood" or the entire 1995 Soldier Field concert.
I don't know what you are talking about. The performance I seen recently really made me feel sad that he gave so much as a young man and he lost so much because of it
@@richardmcanally3455 idk man listen to Love Reign O'er Me from like 2007.. i know thats still a while ago at this point but it's still very much late-career Eddie Vedder absolutely killing it
As a guy, his voice is like a calling to do something prolific, like Braveheart. Is it different for a woman, that you have a calling to kiss him, or something. His voice is out of actual mythology, if you ask me
The reason why his voice intrigues me and is the only one that gives me goosebumps is, that it’s such a special mixture of vulnerability/naivety and sheer infinite strength/roaring power and bravery, while still maintaining a beautiful elegance, it’s just amazing. It’s as looking in the inner of all his emotions at once.
@@SunlessComa4614 yep...how time goes by so fast eh? We used to play basketball in a local court and one of the lads got the original albums of nirvana, pearl jam, alice in chains, soundgarden, stone temple pilots... I just loved all the music back then... It is sad that Eddie & Pj are nearly the only ones left or even alive..... Dublin Dave.
Yes, i've been waiting for this!! 💕 i mean, if you could actually react to their whole unplugged performance, OMG! THAT WOULD BE AMAZING 😂 awesome reaction vid! Isn't he hot? 😂
@@Vic-Vega i was on my way to the replies *just* to mention Lanegan. such an under-rated songwriter, singer & all round top person. LOVE him *&* the fact that he's still going, remains brilliant *&* relevant (to some of us...).
@@Misrabelle I don't regret her life choices...this song was instrumental in surviving my youth...its only competition for best breakup song is Black Tee Shirt by Ben Folds Five (but it still beats it by a country mile).
"I would be interested to see if he struggled with losing his voice..." If only there was some way to see videos of him singing for the last 20 years. Hmm....
Yesss! Eddie uses those pipes strongly in 'Jeremy'. There may be ppl with technically better voices, but imo, the passion and raw emotion Eddie displays when he performs, and as she mentioned, those little things he adds and ways he uses that voice make him a great vocalist. I'd love to see her reaction to his performance of 'Masters of War' at the Bob Dylan honoree ceremony in 92. Ed's my favorite artist. He's really been strongly influenced by the great 60s & 70s bands I love so much. All the grunge bands were.

Hi beth, have you check out Indonesian singer, Cakra Khan, cover "Tennessee Whiskey"? Check it out if you don't mind.. Wanna hear your explanation about cakra voice covered the song. Thank you 🙏
Pearl jam VH1 rock honors The Who, Love Reign o'er Me, Eddie can still kill it at 44. He is still greatest live Rock singer alive today. Saw him Rome 2018 and he was amazing at now 54 years old
FeelItRising Damn. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years since that Rock Honors performance. They killed it on both of those songs. The recent stuff I’ve heard live unfortunately doesn’t sound as good to me. Could just be off on certain nights. He’s been pronouncing vowels really strange to me for the last few years. Still my favorite band though.
Eddie Vedder has always sang with his heart. He is one of the most emotional singers, he just gets in the zone of the music when he performs and it is always beautiful to see and hear. Back in the day he ran around the stage and was just so caught up in the music. He still performs now but he is more calm in the sense of not running around, but he still performs everything he does with that same passion.
When Pearl Jam was boycotting Ticketmaster, they would play at really small bars, basically unannounced. I'll never forget this, this long haired dude in sunglasses that was sitting in the next table disappeared. And then I noticed woman after woman after woman being sorta magnetized to the stage -- it was that dude. It was Eddie Vedder -- those chics flocked to his voice like bees to honey, it was amazing to witness. And I have to say, he has the best voice I've ever heard.
@Jeff V well, I guess if anybody could make a career out of munbling words of a song, all of us should be famoud now.. I've caps locked the word RAW TALENT, because unlike many artists, Eddie does not depend on electronics to alter his voice or vocals on his recordings. It's not perfect, but it that damn good.
@Jeff V Rather strained logic to dismiss him with only “he mumbles every word” with no discussion of anything else about his vocal ability, is it not? That “mumbling” cooperates perfectly with the music he performs with. It does not take long to observe his capacity in range, power, and distinctiveness, as people have long noted.
Yes the fragility was so key back then, you nailed it. When I first heard this and he sang "I'll take a walk outside..." it just totally blew me away. I've heard it a million times now but it still kind of does.
"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky, but why can't it be mine?" obligatory quoting of one of the greatest lyrics ever written (edit: typo fail)
The Ego everything is so compressed nowadays. It’s like modern music producers want everything sound at the same volume throughout the whole song. Makes music sound so sterile and artificial with no human touch.
@@twowheels808 so true, brother. And I hear the same trends, phrases and patterns being copied and repeated over and over on almost every new pop song.
I love Eddie Vedder so much. His voice is ridiculous. I feel like he has to work so hard to restrain himself or his massive voice will shake the world apart.
this *whole* set is utterly transcendent. it's a perfect blend of the band being tight af, their brilliance with their instruments, the vocals (mesmerising & tearjerkingly good), the atmosphere, setting & setlist. Porch ought to be pickled & preserved in a museum somewhere tbh.
It's almost a crime to interrupt this song... I've seen them live several times being the last in 2018 and they are still amazing. Eddie's voice is still there.
There's an incredible video from 2008 of Pearl Jam covering The Who's "Love Reign O'er Me" that *definitely* shows how well Eddie's voice held up. He never lost the pain and expression that comes through in his singing, but it seems like he improved his control over the screamier stuff.
No...he can't still do that with his voice...after the album Ten...he couldn't do it like that anymore. The follow up album, VS...had nothing like this song or performance.
If you learn what this song is about, then you'll know why he is so emotional when he sings it. He wouldn't sing it at concerts for years because it was so personal to him.
When you pause to analyze, could you rewind and let us hear it again? That way we don’t lose anything going back ourselves. It’s disjointed for the listeners. Not a criticism, just a suggestion. roar
It’s fun watching someone fall in love over agin. 6:23. Huge smile, adjustment of the clothes, hair flips, blushes, then in a trance as she composes herself to get back “on track”
This is my favorite band featuring my favorite singer doing my favorite rendition of my favorite song. I love love love this unplugged! One question for you tho: You were making a facial expression toward the end that I interpretted that looked painful for you. Were you unhappy with his voice or this song? (I wont be offended if you dont like my favorite song. LOL)
I have covered much of the Grunge era songs. We performed in the 90's. Though not as technical as say Scott, Chris or Kurt, Eddie was all about the emotion. Every song was a display of feeling. I loved doing Pearl Jam but I could only do one song per night. It was a strain for me but Eddie is a God. He has better chords than most.
Temple of the dog - say hello to heaven live at moore theater 1990 Soundgarden - beyond the wheel live at germany 1990 Hope you react to those videos ;)
Eddie is the man. When a legend in Chris Cornell listened to this still fresh and unwanting singer and said that he has to be in Temple of the Dog with him....that says a lot about Eddie's voice.
Not against anything you've said the analysis is great :) but being these are his / the bands song and they carry so much meaning personally to them i love thinking about how at this time in his life he literally went out wanting to like... PUT that out there as hard as he could.. not thinking about hey this sounds this way or that from a music coach perspective but hey " ima knock this outa the fn stadium real quick brb " and just throw it out there with such talent and emotion..
07:42 - You hit the nail on the head there. I was about to post the following: I always thought most singers from the 1990s Grunge era would be an absolute nightmare to a vocal coach; from a technical perspective. *Especially* Eddie Vedder.
