Great song written by Prince Rogers Nelson recorded by Sinead O'Conner which was performed very well and emotional in her own right but Chris Cornell adding his own flavor to this song was special , may he rest in peace.
Like many I'm sure, Cornell got me through some exceptionally low times and still does. He made sense at a time when not much did. Well done Beth, you pretty much held it together too. A valiant effort.

As a singing guitarist myself I always said if God told me I had to die and come back as someone it would have been Chris. It was so unfathomable that he was fighting a demon so bad that he would take his life. Makes you wonder why we hold on when even our heroes can't. I'm sticking around though no matter what, don't worry.

Hi Beth. You should react to Andre Matos singing. Unfortunately he passed away last Saturday from heart attack. He was way too young and had a remarkable voice. He was the co-founder of the band Angra, in which Kiko Loureiro, now guitarist of Megadeth used to play. It would be nice seeing you react to his singing, whether it's his old or new material. Chris's voice always brought a compendium of emotions to my ear, until his suicide. Now, It only brings sorrow. As much as I loved to hear him rip the paint off the walls over the decades, I can barely stand hearing him sing a single tune. RIP.

There is a brazillian metal singer called André Matos, who unfortunatelly passed away last saturday (06/08). I really recomend you to check his work, a wonderful singer with a very high pitch singing. I believe you will love his voice. He had a very strong classical background.

when i was a teenager, he had a friend pass away. Another singer of a band called Mother Love Bone, Andrew Wood, a band that after his passing would become Pearl Jam. To memorialize him, they recorded an album called Temple of the dog, featured members of Sound Garden, and what would become Pearl Jam. that album, was one of many that saved my life. Also....yea you have an accent....an absolutely adorable one.
I will never forget walking into a concert at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto in the early 90's and hearing Rusty Cage and thinking how amazing this night was going to be! Blues Travellers, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam And Neil Young! The Best. RIP Chris. And it was amazing!

I love the cello in place of a bass guitar for songs like this. It allows you to fill in the song more and add an accompaniment to the singer. You can harmonize it, you can use a dissonant fill and sustain it at different volumes and timbres where you can't with a bass guitar. You also keep the more human touch compared to a keyboard which sounds, well, like a keyboard. and as a side note, pieces written for the cello, often work really nicely on the bass guitar, especially a 5 string that has the range to do it. You'll either have to tune your bass in fifths(much easier), or do lots of transposing (can be much harder) Transposing is fine if you know where the notes are, but because you're usually tuned in fourths on a bass, you might find lots of the notes are hard to reach.
