I only have one complaint about this song. ITs too damned short we need more stage time with these two angels.

1st fun fact Simone was 3 months pregnant. 2nd fun fact Floor and Simone are close friends. 3rd fun fact Floor's mic sound was setting lower than Simone had. 4th fun fact Floor & Henk and Simone & Floor are 2 of my favorite duets, coincidentally all of them are Dutch (and I'm not Dutch).

Floor’s voice is so powerful, so beautiful.

I think Simone is very comfortable where she is, with the range she uses... she wrote this song and for floor, she sings quite difficult songs written not for her, but for a opera singer or a pop/metal singer... by a genius writer names Thomas. Restrospect was their 3 hr anniversary concert.

Nightwish, Epica and Within Temptation means one thing you have excellent taste in music and a great appreciation for musicianship by bands especially LIVE. I would add that Delain with Charlotte should be in that group if you appreciate symphonic metal and love Dutch vocalists (Floor/Nightwish; Simone/Epica; Sharon/Within Temptation; Charlotte/Delain; Anneke/Vuur & Gathering and Dianne/Ex Libris), that doesn't include other great Dutch female vocalists leading metal bands (Burning Witches, etc..). Two good friends that sounded great together, I often say if angels are real then I have heard what they sound like. This was the 2nd duet they did during this show, check out Stabat Mater Dolorosa (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QqdvFPBGN0c.html) done earlier in the show. They do these duets often and are involved in other side projects away from their band as well. Great reaction and analysis even as it got very technical, but to me they sounded great together. Loved the fact there was no competition here but rather complete cooperation to create a wonderful sound especially with the symphony and choir to back them up (Epica's special 10th anniversary show thus they went all out).

First, I loved the performance. Second, I think Floor purposefully had herself 'mic'ed down'. She has done this before . This is Simone's band, with Floor as a guest. Simone is strong, but who here thinks Floor couldn't out-power her. It would be inappropriate, rude. Pure class in my opinion.

I'll add to the list of people suggesting you listen to their performance of Stabat Mater Dolorosa, from the same concert. It's obviously VERY different, but it is absolutely beautiful.

Simone and Floor also sang Stabat Mater Dolorosa together. This was Epica's 10th Anniversary show so they had a full orchestra, multiple guest singers and it was a huge production.

Respect to the soundman...blending this two goddess' voice is never an easy task...

Oh they are great friends and they perfomed together lots of time, in this same show they did Stabat Mater Dolorosa, back in Floor's After Forever days they did Beyond Me (Simone sang the part originally sung by Sharon Den Adel), they did Sweet Curse in Floor's former band ReVamp and they did Follow in the Cry (former After Forever song) during an Epica concert Any of those are spectacular!

You need to remember with this concert Simone was singing fo close 3 hours, Floor had to perform just two songs, the one you listened to and Stabat Mater Dolorosa. Oh, it was in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.

Simone is a Mezzo, I have actually never heard her sung anything above high C live. I think that Floor sounds more comfortable than Simone in the high part of her range by far.

Simone is Floor's BFF for many years and yes they have performed together over the years. I don't remember when Simone's baby was born, but I believe Floor's metal baby (travels with Floor when on tour) is almost 2 years old now.

Native english speakers really strugle to remember to pronounce the "e". One thing Floor does a lot better than Simone is pronunciation. Simone's voice is always beautifull, but often you can't catch a word in 3. There's also their duet in Stabat Mater Dolorosa and Simone singing Sweet Curse with Revamp. Off topic, in another video you asked about how no one mixed opera and metal before Nightwish and why it took so long: the answer is that people where working towards it for a long time and in 1988 Manowar came out with a homage to Joey Dimaio's favorite composer. Two Dutch vocal goddesses on stage together is almost too much to handle - but I made it alive once more, as I've seen so many reactions to this amazing performance already. However, yours is among the best ones.

Being Dutch...I can only be proud that - by coincidence - we have 3 great symphonic metal singers. Each with own qualities....but all just wow!!!

I would love nightwish to do the same thing through a whole tour getting larger halls and using local symphonies and choirs at their shows. No doubt it could be billed the greatest show on earth. Larger halls get paid the same as the venues they normally play and the rest of the money goes to support the choirs and symphonies. It would be great.

As usual Simone looks and sounds like a perfect angel. The Valkyrie singing with her well developed classical voice as she did in her previous bands, is likewise superb. if only she used it in her performances with nightwish instead of poppish sounding or soft and cuddly approach, nowadays.

Simone was actually trained by Floor in the past. Floor even trained Maria Callas when Floor was not even born so imagine how good she is !

Can't see if anyone already mentioned it below but I heard that Simone was 3 months pregnant and already had 2 hours performance behind her when they did this. Quite imaginable that she'd be a tiny bit 'out of breath' at times but stil .. all things considered... an epic(a) performance (no pun intended!). And love your reaction as always!

My other recollection about this particular show (other than Simone being pregnant, which several people mentioned), she was also feeling a bit unwell. She held up for 3 hours like that, which to me is impressive. Their performance of “Stabat Mater Dolorosa” from this same show was definitely stronger for Simone (being that it was earlier on in the show). I’ve seen Epica 4 times since 2010, and last I saw them in 2017 was easily the best she sounded (in person for me). They were touring with another favorite band of mine - Lacuna Coil - and I even got to see Simone have a spectacular duet with Cristina Scabbia that night for “Storm The Sorrow”.

Simone is more of a lyric soprano, whilst Floor is more of a spinto soprano, meaning that she's got a bit darker timbre to her voice. They are both great singers, with all due respect and it's a pure joy to listen to them. I was a lucky bastard to hear them both live. Due to my work schedule I don't attend concerts as much as before, but this year I'm seeing Jinjer, and Eluveitie and next year Nightwish in Vienna. So having that in mind, I highly recommend you Eluveitie - Rebirth as one of the songs to react to.

It's so hard to compare Simone, who is a brilliant, beautiful singer to Floor. Floor just nails every note with emotion, control, and feeling. This just shows that even in a duet with a world class, amazing rock star like Simone, Floor is the unquestionable goddess.

Floor is a more powerful singer. I love Simone and she has a very angelic voice, but is more delicate in my opinion.

You named three of the best bands in the world and definitely the top three Symphonic Metal bands. You should also consider Delain and the Greek band Elysion. Amy Lee and Evanescence would also be related, although not exactly Symphonic Metal.

Have you heard Anneke Van Giersbergen? Floor has stated in interviews that it was The Gathering's "Mandylion" album (Anneke's first with the band) that made her decide that she wanted to sing in a metal band. Floor and Simone sound beautiful together in this song...Floor sounds good with anyone though. Cheers!

i think your next reaction should be from the male side of prog/symphonic. Pull Me Under by Dream Theater, Iconoclast by Symphony X or Kingdom by Devin Townsend Project would be great starters especially if you are primarily looking for robust power vocals

At the end of the day it's not a competion between those two amazing singers...both are great with different styles, to me they are equal, that's my opinion! Just amazing vocalist and their voices blend very well together.

Tony Kakko explains it as if you're singing too high and your voice isn't naturally that high it feels like you're hitting your head on a ceiling fan which is why he sings lower these days. Tony did a recent interview that is on RU-vid about why he had to change how he sings.

Very nice. IMO no point to compare Simone and Floor here. Simone has been singing top challenging songs for almost 3 hours before this one, and was pregnant. Anyhow - Floor is one of the top vocalists that live on this planet today, versatile, powerful, inspiring, amazing technique.. But, Simone... she is by far my favorite. To me she sounds more emotional and touching. Her apparent vulnerability (she’s actually a kick-ass vocalist) on the background of the Metal aggressiveness is the X factor for me. Try these as a demonstration - Epica - Tides of Time 😭 Epica - Crimson Bow and Arrow 💪🏻
