Sigrid has the most astonishing voice. Such control and purity. And she sounds exactly the same live as she does on the album, which seems to be a rarity these days. She's magnificently talented.
She's good. But our queen is Susanne Sundfør. Always has been. Susanne sings the hell out of Sigrid own song; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uIx9snSep88.html
This is actually a live studio recording. Susanne Sundfør and Astrid S are different voice cultures, impossible to compare. They all are great in their respective fields
Amazing stuff. Scandinavian music usually has that raw elemental nature :) Aurora - Infections of a different kind - Live at Trix - 20/10/2018 is also a great Scandinavian performance :)
@welsh logic Curious of the thought process behind that comment. "Someone said something positive about Norway, so let's remind them of the biggest and most horrible tragedy since WWII to put them down"?
Susanne Sundfør. Norways most talented Artist of all Time. She sings like a God, but she also compose lyrics, and melody, produce it like a Maistro. Plays Keyboard and gitar well. She at this point can write Movie music like Hans Zimmer
@@Battlenude Fun fact. Susanne Sundfør was discovered by Sigrid's manager in 2006. He was a producer and talent builder at that time. She was playing some songs on a piano in a Hotell lobby. He made a record with her and introduced her to the labels. Immediate success
One of her most extraordenery songs IMO. She has many in that level I think. Your coments on this realy made it even more likable to me. I would love to see more reactions from you on her and Aurora. I would also recomand for you to listen to our Norwegian young jazz star Angelina Jordan, who realy can transform her voice to fit almost any type of song. She got known when she took part in Norway got talent 2014 only 7/8 Years old. She won the competitian singing classic jazz. In the years after up to now she has coverd about 115 songs, all from jazz legends like Billie Holliday, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald and others, and legends like Elvis, Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston and todays artists like Adele, Lana Del Rey and several more. Well, all this just to make my point; it woud be VERY interesting to her your coment to this young talent who in the oppinion of many of her fans now (at age 13) sounds more like a fully grown up artist in some of her later covers. You would need to do at leest 3 og 4 of her videos to get to see her ability to different kind of songs at such young age. I woud love to hear your comments to her singing Summertime ( in the final of NGT) and then maybe Her original "Shield" which she releesed a year ago when she was 12. I hope and pray you canget time for her to, I`m shure it will be a treet even for you to hear Angelina.
Jordan is a freak of nature and an extraordinary talent. Her version of Bang Bang she did when she was 8 gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. And now her voice is so deep! She sounds like Toni Braxton!
@@IRex-wm9pd - Not to happy about the "freak-thing" but I guess I understand what you mean to say. "A wonder of nature" is rather more my way to talk about Angelina. And other than that: I totally agree. The goosbomps has got stock on me by now listening to Angelina - AND Sigrid and Aurora, for these last few years.
Yes! You reacted to Sigrid. Thank you! I hope you will react to more of her and I suggest Don't Kill My Vibe, her live version at The Late Late Show with James Corden is great. She has been open about what inspired the song, it as a writing session where she was parenthesized by men in the room. "When we wrote 'Don't Kill My Vibe', Martin Sjølie asked me what I'd been thinking about, and I started talking about this difficult previous session I'd been in. I could've described this upcoming moment of truth as a bad teenage novel but ok, short version: I almost killed that Mac keyboard due to angry writing." ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y8vmRXpZoZ4.html Sigrid: Don't Kill My Vibe (Apple Music Up Next)
Sander Cohen agreed! This is one of my favorite Sigrid songs, but there are definitely others that show off her skills even more (judging by me being able to sing Dynamite but definitely not a lot of here other songs 😂)
Actually she is amazingly brilliant ! More natural than Adelle and humble . She is Sigrid and no one else. Totally natural and oh yes ....beautiful . Rave on.
Sigrid is yet another northern treasure (along with Sissel, Susanne Sundfor, Aurora, Eivor Pallsdottir, Klara and Johanna Soderberg of First Aid Kit, Marie Fredrikson, Agnetha and Anni-Frid from ABBA). Sigrid and Aurora are friends and have known each other since they were young teenagers, both being from the west coast of Norway and of course both earning well deserved recognition in the past few years.
Thank you very much for finally reacting to Sigrid and Dynamite. 😃 I've been asking many vocal coaches to react to her but not much respons. I love this song because of her easy setup with only the piano and her. I also love her rasp and think it makes her songs more special. I think this song is very beautiful, even if it is a sad song and I have problems holding back the tears every time I hear it. Again, thank you very much. Sigrid have many beautiful songs and I hope you can react to more of her. Her song Raw is another good song were she sings most of the song without any instruments ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BkpwPKZb_Zo.html Cheers 🤗
When you say you haven't listened to her before, I just don't believe you. She won the BBC sound of 2018- Famous all over the UK and especially in Europe.
I wrote that a several times: Sigrid is a "secret" inside herself. Might not be "perfect", but she ist a person that can get u from the firste note, and u wanna find out, what might comes up to u. 😙
Sigrid is amazing! You really should look up Susanne Sundfør, as some others have suggested. On her official youtube page she has a sublime live version of Undercover. Her music in general is absolutely amazing. Excellent song-writer and composer.
call me sappy but some music makes me shed some tears. Not necessarily because of the story being sung, but just the sheer performance, when someone can express themselves so fluently a gracefully through music. This girl has that.
Amazing. Her facial expressions are the of the song. Her raspiness?? in the song is something many would kill for and sound engineers only dream off. A talent of eminence proportions.
Please don't take this as being rude, but how have you not done a video on Florence Welch? I mean she only has one of the greatest most powerful voices that has ever been heard on this planet. If I were to recommend a video I would say watch "Florence + The Machine - Shake It Out (Live on SNL)". You can literally see the joy she gets from singing. Her voice is unmatched. Watching her sing, and hearing her voice can bring tears to anyone (happy tears).
Everything u said about her voice is the exact things that made me fall in love with her voice she has such a unique voice and it's so beautiful, I think u should have a look at another song from Sigrid like strangers or mine right now

Hmmm yeah. I prefer that one more. And also - Song co-writer Chilly Gonzales said: "I had this technique to get people to write music very quickly. It’s called songing. “Limit to Your Love” was written using this technique of songing. Songing is essentially you have a list of titles, you just go “Ok, let me write a list of titles I could imagine that I could be songs,” whatever comes to your mind becomes a song title. Then you have this piece of paper in front of you just create the space where you say “Ok, we’re gonna go now, I’m gonna put my fingers on the keys, you’re gonna start to sing.” One of those little titles that Feist had come up with was called “Limit to Your Love.” She didn’t know in what way was supposed to be expanded upon, we just went for it. It was written in the amount time it takes to perform it."
I think it was that rasp on 'Don't Kill my Vibe', it's what set her apart from the pack. She supported the band I was managing back in 2015 :) she was young then but everyone already knew she was a talent. Not sure we thought she'd take it so far. But then she pulled out the rasp.
Hello Beth, And I suggest you to do: Avantasia - The Scarecrow (Live Flying Opera) Scorpions - Still Loving you /Love of my Life (Live from the Acustic album) In Flames - Take this life / Stay with Me Anathema - Untouchable Pt. 1 and 2 (live) Dimmu Borgir - Gateways (live) Pearl Jam - Come Back (live)
Wow. WOW! I ALREADY loved Sigurd before this video (her version of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Everybody Knows’ at the beginning of the movie ‘Justice League’ was fundamentally life-changing for me ... it expressed my personal relationship with my maker in a way I had never been able to find words for...) but I fell into deep admiration of you from this! I analyze things in all the world in a very similar way to the way you analyze this song. I LOVE your ability to have such confidence in your ability, and your own knowledge. You deliver the analysis in such a friendly and supportive way. I might just have to schedule some vocal coaching sessions with you. I’d like to get better in the way you talk about, by finding my own unique ‘flaws’ that make me “Me” and perfecting them. I’m not a great singer, and I only sing at karaoke any more, and for myself, or maybe for a blog / Facebook post for fun, but still I’d really like to be able to record the way I **think** my voice sounds and have that recording accurately reflect how I intend to sound when I press record.
From the same tiny hometown as Sigrid, comes Ingrid Helene Håvik. The lead singer of Highasakite (yes, pronounced "high as a kite"). You need, need, need, NEED to listen to and react to "Lover, where do you live?"❤️ Please do, I know you'll be amazed.
As a Norwegian its always odd to see some things described as unique to us, when its largely a combination of outside influences. West coast recording, stage musical singing, pop singers (like Adele), as well as a very scholarly approach to arranging. It was much the same with Bel Canto in the 90s, I prefer the influences from Kate Bush and Cocteau Twins raher than Adele, but the mix is still as with this, somehow recognizably Norwegian. (Check out Waking Will, Mornixur or Unicorn .. no good videos to react to though) Even the sound of Norwegian hardcore punk was a result of american pop production on metal inspired punk rockers.
The norse gods emptied a kettle full of talent over western Norway and now we have this explosion of amazing artists, all from the same circle of IRL friends.
Beth you NEED to react to Chris Cornell's unplugged performance of "Like a Stone" at the AOL sessions, incredibly raw and emotional. As a stoic guy, my eyes got watery...
If you like these raw but powerful performances check out Jessie J singing “Who you are” on a subway platform. It’s just her and a boom box playing the backing. It’s bonkers good: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q_pnFhFjNtY.html
Remember that Western Norway, where Sigrid is from, would not be the same without mountains. It also wouldn't be worth living there without dynamite to make tunnels.
If you are getting more into Norwegian female singers you should check out Emilie Nicolas and Highasakite, amazing singers with the same kind of ''Norwegian quality'' to their voices :)
Beth, love your review of this artist and song! Would love to hear your thoughts of new artist, Arlissa Ruppert's - Faultline. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yjtMnteIeIk.html
I recommended this song, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DDWmlttFI5s.html. The singer/movie actor was one of the most famous in Mexico. I think you will love his voice.
Love that performance, the whole band, the symphonic orchestra and the audience just dissolve into a big bag of FUN! Everyone smiling and dancing, so cool!
