Jim was not always drunk or high. His rhythmic and resonant style of singing, oscillates between the most earthy of the blues screaming for the most tender of love ballads. It is a sound like an overwhelming shock wave combined with an anguished appeal from the depths of the soul of a super intelligent and sensitive man.
The combination of such a low voice (contralto) with a beautiful timbre, performance technique and emotional presentation at such a young age is not common! I think that Diana Ankudinova is generally a unique case! I have never heard anything like it!
He doesn't look high or drunk. I think we've all seen his performances when he's drunk. These movements of his are part of his signature stage performance.
Iggy Pop saw The Doors, when Jim was in a drunken Jimbo stupor, the story goes, everyone in the audience was yelling at Jim to sing, rather than sit on stage, reciting poetry. Apparently young Iggy had a band, and was in the front row! Excited! this drove him to want to emulate some of Mr.Mojo in his act. I definitely see the similarities. Rumor has it that Iggy pretended to be Jim one night after he died - was heard on a radio station, late at night, claiming to be Jim.
Jim was absolutely sober while filming on that TV show and was never filmed drunk on any TV work that the doors appear in , ever , Morrison was a professional . Not so much when the doors played live .

You missed the very ending when they copied the end of the commercial that goes "Stronger than dirt!" Somebody in the band suggested it and it was thought everyone would spot it but they put it in anyway....and yeah, everybody spotted it. Just having fun.

Actually that's a birthmark on the bass players face. He is also the writer of The Doors most popular chart topping songs. Jim wrote a lot of the obscure songs like "The End", etc. Awesome band!
How the hell can he sing like that drunk and high? I can barely tie my shoe laces drunk. It blows my mind. I heard great vocalist become pretty horrible at singing when drunk, singing off-key.

@@shar3066 Not as much as people think though I've heard recordings of Jim when he really was blitzed and they were pretty awful performances, for the most part he was pretty together on stage and in the studio I mean a couple of beers & a joint doesn't really qualify either. He got sloppier toward the end at gigs but even as late as the LA Woman album the session guys said he was on the ball & pretty sober, what he did away from the band is another issue.
@@absinthedream9668 interesting, yes he would have been an alien if he was stoned & drunk during recordings and on tv shows. Beer doesnt qualify since almost every band took a few before they went onstage.
There's a lot of ripoffs of the doors on a lot of the new pop hits. Billie eilish is one of them. Who punched Robbie in the eye who else Jim Morrison he finally admitted it after years of speculation.
