The reason Emet doesn't consider you alive is basically, everyone used to be an Ascian like him. Able to create things on a whim, teleport and fly on a whim, see the colours of souls etc. And now everyone has been reduced down to 1/14th the person they once were. We were all essentially Gods at one point and now we're just pale imitations. The way i try to show the Ascian perspective is imagine if all humanity was wiped out, but you could bring everyone and everything back by wiping out all ants. Would you really let all those people stay dead to allow ants to continue existing in their ignorance of what they actually are?
With every rejoining though we did get stronger. All of us are at 7/14ths of being a true person again by the time of ARR Would have been 8/14th if they didn't fail with the 13th. Once we're 13/14th rejoined then its practically enough for them to sacrifice us to Zodiark.
A bit late to say this but I see many players and streamers make the mistake of not talking to npc’s before and after talking to the quest giver 🥲 pretty much all the time they will have something either funny or interesting to say ESPECIALLY for emet-selch as he gives a ton of lore on the ascians if you talk to him when possible for example if you talked to him after the cutscene before leaving to kholusia he would’ve told you that the ascians names are not their actual names but titles
@@kwistyyFFXIV I highly suggest it yes ! On top of telling you of the ascians titles before going to kholusia you also get the option to ask for his actual name but he tells you he might tell you one day when you’ve earned it or you might die before he gets to do so since life is full of such disappointments 😂
