SERAPHISM BUSTED? | Zepla covers Mr Happy’s SCHOLAR Job Breakdown for FFXIV Dawntrail 

Thing is, FF14 lacks a job which has the "Cleric healer" as its core theme. So they're kinda dumping these ideas into the druid-like WHM and the battle tactician that is SCH. I personally really like the "divine healer" appearance, but I feel like they should have a separate job which has that as its core theme to leave WHM and SCH alone. Maybe have Green Mage? (Yes I see the irony of *White* Mage being about nature and *Green* Mage being divine lol) Maybe Oracle?... Mystic like the FFT job?

To be fair, seraphism actually makes sense for scholar, because you already have a seraph. The idea of taking that power into yourself feels like a normal evolution of the seraph summon. In reality, it's white mage wings and holy that are out of place. White mages are supposed to be druids who focus on nature magic like the lily, stone, and aero. But there really isn't any angelic themes anywhere else in the job aside from a few random abilities they've gotten over time. I guess the real problem is that white mage came from conjurer. If it was a stand alone job, it would have been fine. But having nature evolve into holy magic, while still having some plant themed stuff, feels like a mess imo

Weirdly, i feel like this is another situation of expedient, I still remember how people complain scholar got a glorifed sprint button when action trailer drop for endwalker, and then people quickly learn how strong it is and SE have to nerf it

5:14 “What does scholar have to do with angels? It’s really bizarre.” This bothers me more than the functional changes to not only SCH but other jobs as well. It’s felt like they haven’t much cared about job aesthetics or lore on several jobs since they jettisoned job quests in 5.0; seraphism is just the most obvious example.

This is an unpopular opinion but I don't mind Seraphism! We've had the Seraph summon since 5.0, so it isn't too surprising that we would get another Seraph related ability. I think it fits the aethetic of Scholar well!

FF14 really messed up White Mage lore for using it as nature.

Am I the only one who thinks Seraphism is just a worse version of AST's Lightspeed? Sure, it has a healing over time effect, which is small, but not nothing, but AST got 2 charges of lightspeed, and it makes both heals and offensive spells instantanous... Plus, faster cooldown...

Honestly I feel like im the only one who likes seraphism. It gives me more "ancient fae woodland protector" vibes with the shroud and the crown than an angel

Sch main since HW....and personally I don't like that Scholar turns into the angelic healer. I always loved the fact that we got a fairy as a companion...can we please go backhto that and leave the angels for whitemages maybe? But hey....healing in FF sucks anyway. Good for me that I get a new Main with DT ❤🎉

I explained this to another person in the comments, but i figured i'd post it as its own comment as well, just for visibility. because scholar has a huge focus on casting barriers, it makes sense that its magic is a lot more light aspected in terms of aether. We know all about what light aspected aether can do from shadowbringers, which is also the expansion where they introduced seraph. And seraph literally makes the fairy able to make barriers. It makes total sense to me that this type of power would belong to scholar above all the other healers. Light aspected aether is a stasis-type power, and Hydaelyn herself used this aspect to create barriers between the 14 worlds, as theorized by Y'shtola in patch 6.4. I hope this helps it make more sense to you and increases your enjoyment of the job and lore!

oh no, for 20s every 3 minutes i'm gonna look different, if i even choose to use it on cooldown. oh nooooooooo :| On a less sarcastic note, I really enjoy scholar so I'm glad it's still gonna feel fun to play for me.

It feels like healers are an afterthought. Like, ignoring the mechanical things that have people up in arms, asthetically what are white mage and scholar anymore? It feels like they ran out of theme-juice and are now just throwing generic "healer" imagery on top of what we're previously really interesting takes on final fantasy jobs. White mage makes some sense generally to be more angelic and holy because that is how they had been depicted in other final fantasy games. But this feels like a contrast to their lore in ffxiv where they are almost more druid than cleric. Scholar on the other hand is so far off its original premise. What if class quests continued? How would the story of white mage and scholar make this make sense?

Here's some advice Zepla. Maybe record your own content and react to it instead of piggy backing on others in the community who think you're a narcissist. Just a thought, little girl.
