Thank you so much for this, Pastor! I've been praying for my marriage, family, and especially my husband to realize that he needs to be in the Word. He needs to be the spiritual leader in our home. We've been togeter 34 years and married for 30 this week. His upbringing was VERY different from mine. Im 14 years younger and met him during an extremely difficult time in my life. I love him with all of my heart and would NEVER divorce him as I know the devastation it can caused. Plus, we made a covenant with God until death do us part. However, there are times when he is extremely controlling and even abusive. Long story short, tonight during my prayer time with Abba, I asked for wisdom and discernment regarding what I should do. Leave for my mental, emotional, and physical well-being or stay and keep trying. I just long for him, our children and grandchildren to experience the same kind of joy, freedom, and comfort that comes with a close, personal, and intentional walk with God. An older woman wouldn't say that if she'd been respected during her marriage. Often the way the husband treats her will bleed down into the children and by the time the woman reaches 50/60 she's just so exhausted after being treated like nothing for so many years. It's unfortunate. If people listened to what he said about how to speak to your wife, there's no way a wife would be unwilling to work on a marriage. It's not all about dishes or housework.
