Edward Vogler takes over the hospital after donating 100 million. He tries to get Dr. House fired but House has tenure so he takes it to the board. As always, Wilson tries to save House and ends up in trouble. Copyright goes to Fox.
@@double-you5130 You’re brain dead if you think all Republicans are like this. He’s a spitting image of corporate Democrats and Republicans. Government controlled healthcare is just as bad as un-regulated free market healthcare.
Ultimately, it's not even about his friendship here.. Wilson objectively knew House does save thousands of lives that very few other doctors anywhere else on the planet can save. So while yes Wilson knows that House's personality and certain actions over the years is justifiable enough to act against him but Wilson also knows that he would also have to live with the guilt that he would be indirectly condemning so many people to die by denying them House's genius. An misanthrope, miserable asshole is nothing compared to the actual net benefit of House being allowed to do what he does.
I absolutely hated that fat guy, total bully, and single handedly destroyed the entire series. Wilson WAS the only guy who stuck by Houses side, he was the only one of them with the moral character to stand up to a bully and his cronies too.
@@dr.lexwinter8604 , Cuddy both in the show and real life only values money above all else and not peoples principles and values like everybody else on the show and off the show does, so I’m very glad that she left sometime during the finale of Season 7.

You can't renege on a donation. Can't believe they would make him chairman without first finalizing the grant. Once the paperwork is signed assuming it was overseen by a lawyer there would be no way to just "back out".
I always interpreted it that he'd spend X dollars every year on the hospital. The 100 million aren't official but just what he's willing to give over the next 30 to 40 years.

Why didn't Wilson argue, "What's the basis of my dismissal? Disagreeing with you?" I want to see Vogler crawl out of that one. Because if he admits to dismissing Wilson was due to disagreeing with Vogler, Vogler would be dismissed by everyone else (because it puts a crosshair on everyone's back).
@@LeonardoGPN There's also the fact that the board members can kick out Vogler without giving back his money. After all, Vogler would be kicked out due to the abuse of his power, meaning he doesn't have the authority to take back the money.
One thing I learnt from House is Occums Razor. Shouldn't House also be on the board as the head of diagnostics department. He should be able to protect Wilson.

@@makermaster123 ik about the 100 million. But in the episode she stood up for Wilson in the next vote and when vogler tried to vote her off afterwards, she reminded the rest of the committee what the hospital stands for. Kinda hypocritical
@@ahmadhusaini3198 I think it's because she thought he had a personal vendetta against house. Once she realized that that he was a bully and just wanted his way no matter the cost she stuck up for the values of the hospital over the value of his contribution.
@@makermaster123 She knew he had a personal vendetta. When House was told to fire someone from his team, he suggested a paycut that mitigate the cost of the entire team. Instead he wanted to force him to fire someone. When he tried to fire Chase, he was denied because Chase was snitching for Vogler. This all happened in front of her btw. This all stemmed from Cuddy not even giving a proper explanation as to why House doesn't wear a labcoat.
@@ahmadbmr That's what I'm saying. She was convinced it was just about house. She wanted to save the money for the hospital because she thought the vendetta would end at house being fired.
No, this is to emphasize that he DOESN'T value House as $100 million. That's how he got everyone on his side. Even Cuddy spells it out -- she said that while House is an excellent doctor, he is NOT worth $100 million. Cuddy and the rest only later keeps House instead, because of House's plot armor.
No one values house 100 million dollars. They value not being puppets 100 million dollars. House was only the tip of the iceberg. Cuddy even says so when she votes negative on Wilson
Funnily enough hospitals in USA are classified as not-for-profit organizations despite in some instances posting over a $1b profit. Being not-for-profit also allows them to REALLY avoid taxes. They ARE businesses for all intents and purposes.
House is a disgrace to the hospital ? You talk about the guy who saved a US senator, reknowned Jazz Musician, Piano musician,, solved thousands of unsolvable case ? The guy for whom people travel thousand of miles to meet him ? Yeah what a disgrace
The most sought after too! There is one episode where one guy was trying to get House to help him only for him to end up dying later. If he is that good, they need to capitalize on that.
BTW i never thought about it but how could they vote against Wilson? House, i understand, but Wilson? and just because they were forced to get rid of house? That was disgraceful. I love how Vogler didnt got anything he wanted from house, not even the apology; he literally lost millions thanks to house.
@@uhejnjd Vogler: "Oh... I'm being sued for wrongful termination with malice. I suppose I should've been more subtle with my tyrannical ways. I would've been gone as soon as he said "either fire someone, or I'll cut your whole department" I would've just said"ok, I'll take my team and go to another hospital"
he can't as has been previously stated, house going to a different hospital is... tricky due to his tendencies towards the unethical as well as his personality make him finding other employment difficult as has been stated in the show and house knows this.
Cutty keeps saying that no other hospital would take House, but I'm pretty sure endorsements from the various VIPs he's saved would get him hired anywhere. "You gonna attract the rich and famous to my hospital and save them when no one else can? You can roam around shirtless for all I care!"
@@silverblade357 My thoughts exactly. House across the show only has eight patients die, and there's a couple in his backstory like the old woman with erdheim chester. That's a failure rate of like 1% on a specialist, and the majority of those patients were completely lost causes. Excessive and lethal radiation poisoning, genetic diseases, etc. His team is also responsible for several of those deaths, such as the staph infection Forman nuked or the dictator Chase murdered deliberately. Given sufficient leeway, budget, and interest, House would join basically any hospital, and any sufficiently large hospital would only profit from sponsoring House. He wouldn't even have to show up most of the time to be profitable to the hospital, exactly how many legal firms hire famous lawyers for name recognition alone.
@@PR--un4ub when a country adopt this "healthcare is a business" POV, and give the direction of its hospitals to administrators instead of doctors, the quality of all cares automatically fall big time.
A real businessman. He tries to pressure people into a fast decision, so they don't have time to figure out a way to beat him. But, this is one of those times to follow a principle that you never allow anyone, for any reason, to rush you into a decision.
This guy is exactly what’s wrong with the healthcare industry. You cannot have a regimented workplace environment and foster creativity at the same time, you either have a factory floor full of dumb laborers, or an art studio where creativity thrives unimpeded. He wants to run patient treatment like a vending machine, you input the right amount of symptoms and it spits out the precise diagnosis, totally dismissing the creativity and ingenuity required to actually solve cases.
01:44 and the snake spit out his venom🙄 health care should NOT be a business but what its called....HEALTH CARE-doing what needs to be done to make patients better
Wilson says to House in another episode that the only reason a patient can be deemed insane is that he disagrees with House, which some would deem an act of sanity. Shows that he knows when House is being a dollop-head, and when people (read: Vogler) are simply being bias due to House being a pain.
The really sad part of this video is that it’s supposed to a TV show, but I’m scared as hell it’s started to creep into Australia. I get a private room when I go into hospital because I pay a very high premium. I hurt my back a few years ago and the ambulance took me the the public hospital, I was seen immediately over sick people lying on trolling because they could charge my private health cover through the roof. And it’s starting to get worse.
Ok so, a few things that makes a scenario like this impossible in real life. First of all, you can't "back out" of a donation. Once it's officialized, it's done. The fact that he asked to be chairman in exchange for the donation is already very iffy because then, it's not a donation, it's an exchange. He pretty much bought the seat with extra steps. Second, "He walks out or I do, with my money." Alright, bye. And your money stays because legally, that's called intimidation, and that's cause for kicking you out. Third, demanding an immediate vote without leaving time for consideration is not only a bully's behaviour, it is also illegal and would make the resulting vote null and void. Fourth, demanding to remove someone from the board because they don't agree with you is, again, intimidation. Having people disagreeing is the reason you have a board in the first place and not a single seat holding all the power. Fifth, you remove a doctor for disagreeing with you, all the other DOCTORS in the room will band against you. Medical professionals stick together when threatened by people outside the field and the guy just introduced himself as a very real threat. Sixth, removing tenure is very difficult for a bunch reasons. One of those is that, most of the doctors, if not all, on the board, would have tenure themselves. Removing a tenure without a massive suit weighing the scales would open the gate for THEIR tenure being potentially removed. It's not a common occurrence and kind of why all the doctors are so iffy about the decision despite not liking House very much.
Voglar overplayed his hand when he did that. He got all the votes but one. Wilsons losing the vote. He overplayed his hand when he immediately began a vote to dismiss wilson. Dramatically showing that everyone better agree with anything voglar commands or a vote will be held to dismiss them. One by one until Voglar gets his way. If he would have just waited. Played the long game. Voglar would have eventually got all yes's .
House was indeed a liabilty for any hospital that hired him. His malpractice premiums must be sky high. Vogler should've waited and form a stronger case against him and lobby heavily against House. Even removing wilson to a better position in another hospital . I know its a tv drama, but there are smarter ways to go about it.
house is invaluable if he existed in real life with that ability of his there would be no law that could outweigh such a benefit to society. they would have to make an exception for him.
Not a chance. In the real world he would have been fired, and locked up years ago. The most unrealistic character on any TV show I'd ever seen. No hospital would have put up with him for even 5 minutes. He would cost them millions of $$ and ran them afoul of every regulatory agency.
"House is a symbol of everything wrong in the healthcare industry" Says the guy who wants to release a new medicine for 3x the price with the same effect to gain more profit.
"Gregory House is an Embarrassment and a disgrace to this hospital and institution". No, but you know what is? It's that a board member of a hospital is not even college educated.
Cuddy knew exactly how Vogler operated. The moment she allowed him to buy his seat as Commissioner of the Board in exchange for his money is no different than a governor selling a senate seat. No hospital should be owned or operated by a single company. When doctors are more concerned about keeping the money coming than it leads to doctors/nurses/administrators selling their professional integrity and their first and foremost responsibility being patient care to the highest bidder. Cuddy sold her hospital to Vogler for 100 million, which seems like a lot and for a single person to live on then it is but not enough to run a world class hospital. Also, Cuddy acts like Vogler is the only rich guy and multi million/billion dollar company willing to donate. So Vogler's vendetta for House should've been a concern for Cuddy since Vogler was making decisions based on his personal feelings so when Vogler fires Wilson, it was with Cuddy's approval.
@@LordBattleSmurf , you’re calling people like Eiichiro Oda, (the creator of One Piece), childish then because even he himself thinks that healthcare shouldn’t be ran like business like in the United States and instead it’s a commodity that everybody deserves to have regardless of the wealth disparity they have.

Once Vogler gave the ultimatum and then talked about doctors preening themselves, private fiefdoms, pots and black kettles came to mind. Healthcare is not a business and should never be treated as one. Then he decides to sack Wilson. Once he said that red flags should have been running up everywhere. If a chairperson actually acted like this, the motion should have been for his dismissal.
Everyone's nitpicking the logical flaws of this arc, so here's another. Vogler makes a motion, then immediately puts in a vote. You can't do that. The motion needs to be seconded before a vote can be issued.
The dude gave the donation on the condition of becoming chairman specifically so he could use the hospital to run clinical trials for the new drugs from his pharmaceutical company. House caught onto this immediately and viewed it as extremely unethical. But please do go off, my guy.
