CARTOON EVOLUTION #22.5 - VOICE OF SPEEDY GONZALES
Created as a companion video to my series of CARTOON EVOLUTION videos (specifically 'Evolution of SPEEDY GONZALES Over 68 Years Explained'), I take a look at the vocal evolution of the character as I compare the voices of all of Speedy's official voice actors over time, including Mel Blanc, Fred Armisen, Gabriel Iglesias, Greg Burson, Joe Alaskey, Jeff Bergman, Eric Goldberg, Billy West, Bob Bergen, Kerry Shale, Damon Jones, Tim Dadabo, Dino Andrade, Keith Scott and Eric Bauza.

Finally speedy is voice by a actual mexican not to say all of the previous voice artists are bad they all did a good job but we get to see proper representation for this character

Honestly they should’ve just cast Fred Armisen as his permanent voice. He just sounds so natural and fluid, it definitely doesn’t sound like he’s trying to copy someone else’s performance of force out a character voice. But oh well the studio knows best 🤷🏼‍♀️

Speedy didn’t start coming into his own until the looney tunes show. Man I miss that show. Deserves another season

Fun fact: Fred armisen, who voiced speedy Gonzales in the looney tunes show and looney tunes: rabbits run, also voiced Deborahbot 5000, one of the 2 malfunctioned PAL max robots, in the Sony pictures animation movie the Mitchells vs. the Machines.

Joe Alaskey does a really mean impression of Speedy, almost sounding like Mel Blanc, while Eric Bauza, Gabriel Iglesias, and Fred Armisen did a really impressive job of voicing Speedy as well

Bob Bergen's voice for Speedy sounds more like Porky and less like the actual voice.

I think I like Gabriel Iglesias the most despite his limited time with the character, I hope he comes back for more since he seemed genuinely excited to land the role. Though I like Dino Andrade and Fred Armisen too, the rest (even Mel) are okay to me and very inconsistent since most of them required speed/pitch alteration to get the voice where they wanted it, and it wasn't always to the same altered to the same level.

Originally they were going to delete Speedy Gonzales from space jam a new legacy, but it looks like that the Mexican community and Looney Tunes fans alike defended the idea to Warner Brothers.

Mel Blanc was a pure genius. I am a Senior Spfx Designer from Disney Imagineering 30 years already and i and my colleges made most of the spfx designes and Artwork for all Disney Parks 🙂

Speedy Gonzales is always the coolest guy whose friends with every bodies sisters! There isn't a voice performance I don't love from the fastest mouse in all of Mexico!

The one downside with some of Bob Bergen's replacement voices is that they still end up sounding like Porky Pig. It's definitely the most noticeable with his voice for Speedy Gonzales.
