Kenny Rogers actually plays a slightly bigger role than just being a guest singer. Several days before the recording occurred, Lionel, Stevie, Michael and Quincy met up at Kenny's recording studio to record basic music and lyric tracks for the participating artists. Kenny had recording engineers, studio musicians and other needed personnel there to help get the project off the ground.

You’re all sheep. Just because social media created drama. MJ had practiced his parts previously. Cyndi flew in with no preparation and came up with ideas in real time to figure out the best climax. Which she did in the end

This is a great moment in time to cherish.. definitely a tear jerker hearing all those beautiful and different voices and how they are worked together. Also to see the ones who are no longer here with us. Took me right back to my childhood quick! I agree with some of the comments.. analyzing BMU ‘You Will Know’ would be amazing! Seeing The Pointer Sisters I think it would be dope to analyze ‘You Gotta Believe’!!!

There are 46 major singers/pop stars in that room. Lionel Richie hosted the American Music Awards, then immediately after, he, MJ & Quincy Jones assembled them all and recorded this song, for charity, from 10pm to 7am the next day. 9 hours they all stayed in that studio to perfect this beautiful piece of music. Written by MJ and Lionel Richie and Composed by Quincy Jones. They had sandwiches and fried chicken meals brought in as well as wine and beer.

Okay Jaron, so how are you gonna just have me over here with the FLOOD GATES OPEN!! Chile, I thought about my life as a 12.5 yr. old when this song was released. I didn't have much, but I was blessed to have the basic necessities. I truly had nothing to complain about and yet children in Africa, specifically Ethiopia, were dying from starvation. I didn't fully understand the magnitude of this song at that time because I was a child. Listening to it now, and understanding the meaning behind it's inception, moved me to tears. I'm so thankful this project was successful and things are much better today because of it. My gift is also voice, and I even have a few "cradle" friends who are well-known artists, producers, and songwriters in the music industry. It's such a pleasure watching your critiques of many different artists and genres of music. Please keep doing what you're doing- YOU ARE THE G.O.A.T.!! 💝💝🙏🏾🙏🏾💝💝

Best breakdown I’ve seen of this song. First, because you know singing. Second, because unlike 99% of people doing “reactions” you actually know who the artists are.

FYI, the “other guy” singing with the one and only Stevie Wonder is Bruce Springsteen, nicknamed. He has won 20 Grammy awards, an Oscar, two Golden Globes and the list goes on, also a Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient. I think he deserves more than to be called “the other guy”.

What this song proved to me is that we like singers with distinctive voices. We didn’t need the music video to know who was singing. You know MJ, Wonder, Charles, Springsteen, Lauper, Turner, Simon, Rogers, Nelson, Lewis, Jarreau, Joel, Warwick when you hear them. (I did need the video for Loggins, Perry, and Ingram).
