I am so glad that you have found Nightwish. I found them 4 years ago and I am 65. So it is never to late. Nightwish has such a diversity in their songs. This was one of their heavier ones. One I think you would enjoy is Dead Boy's Poem live from Buones Aires. If you would like to see a different side of Marko the song "Islander" Live at Tampere 2015 is really good. I don't want to be a spoilsport, but one has to be bit careful of what performance to choose from. E.g Iron Maiden - while the respect is due - is past its peak also as a live band. Same pretty much goes with Judas Priest, Halloween and Rhapsody of Fire, Manowar and Angra.
@@onsesejoo2605 Curiously Eluiveitie with good sound may be the trickyest until the live album is out! ;-) Frankly, these were not for reactions, they were for information. But if you want to ask for, say Powerslave live at Long Beach, I'll second loud and clear.
They're coming over to the US this year. Keep your eyes open for tour dates. They normally play smaller venues in America too because they're not so well known there. While I got my tickets for Berlin in December already, I actually kind of envy you, because they're playing the big venues here.
People keep saying she was sick during this concert, by now I'm not sure is true, if it is, then that makes me admire her even more, having a cold/flu, and still manage to sing like that, plus the other songs from the whole concert for more than an hour straight, reaching highs and low notes, is truly amazing, but I guess she went aphonic right after that
There's an interview of Floor in which she tells that she was really sick when their Decades 2018 world tour was in South-America, even so that she could hardly speak. Were you to look at the Dutch ladies singing metal only the top five would include Floor, Simone, Anneke, Sharon and Charlotte. Respectively Nightwish, Epica, the Gathering (today Vuur), Within Temptation and lastly Delain. Just, all over Europe metal is, though not exactly mainstream, a force to be reckoned with. Ah well, just take your pick, most are serious about their craft.

But she couldn't sing the middle part of the song. When Floor joined the band, she immediately said, I can do it and I will perform it live on stage. I recommend that you take a look at Blind Guardian. Their marvellous orchestral scores surpass even Nightwish (but Hansi isn't such a good singer as Floor, though). For a real surprising performance of Floor i recomend ReVamp - Disdain live Graspop, one of ver former bands with different vibes than Nightwish She growls, she belts and she goes on classical head voice, all distinctively in ONE relative short song (about four minutes) without sounding disconected I think this song is the ultimate showcase of everything she's capable of (And yet Not!)

You brought up a great point. NW performs on such a grand scale that a singer with a really dynamic stage presence is required to fit them best. The previous two singers were really good, particularly Tarja, but the band's volume often seems to overpower the singers' voices. It sounds like the band played at a much higher volume level in the earlier years and perhaps that is why I have difficulty hearing the lyrics on some of the songs from those days.
I guess for a vocal coach this song is interesting for all the different types of voice tricks she does, and maybe voice techniques too - which I don't know much about.
This song is almost 20 years old (released in 2002) and originally sung by Tarja Turunen, their 1st female lead vocalist. It's not a bad song, but Nightwish has come a long way since then. P.S. I was at that Seattle show, my first Nightwish show, and it wasn't "just a few people." Showbox SoDo was full for that show and you would never have known it was her first performance with the band otherwise.
@@VocalSplendorStudios Yeah, SB SoDo is deceptively small. And to be fair, while the floor was full, the bar area was pretty bare, so it may have been "small" from her perspective, and full from mine - I've not been there for a *lot* of shows, but never been to one there where the bar area was packed full.
I loved this performance the first few times I saw it. But after watching the version with Tarja, I kind of wish Floor would let Marko have his moment toward the end. That's supposed to be by himself, aside from the operatic staccato notes.
Rosannasfriend supposed to be by himself? You decide what is supposed to be how Nightwish is performing their songs? Believe me, it wasn’t Floor who decides how to do the songs. It’s a band effort, together they decide how to perform a song.
