For the people who don't know but are wondering: Geoff is an Imperial Barbarian, Cesar a Dunmer (dark elf) Battlemage, Omar a Bosmer (wood elf) Archer, Eli a Breton Necromancer, and Layne a Nord Jarl. And you should stop as often as you wish -- it's your channel!
Last time I was in Whiterun, just chilling on my private room's balcony over the great room, there was a female bard singing this down by the great fireplace. Pretty sweet. ;)
I was waiting for your reaction. VoicePlay just doesn't do small. Geoff has just been killing it with his arrangements. His opening notes aren't his lowest, but since they're out there by themselves you get to hear them in all their glory. And then he holds that sucker forever! Geoff had all those costume pieces delivered to his house and the BTS showed all the packages. That mail shirt of Cesar's weighs 20 pounds. The first time I heard it I got goosebumps when dragon breath Geoff came in with the low notes, shivered as they kept building it up and then my hair stood on end when Omar came in with Draconic. I couldn't even talk until about the 5th time through. This is just EPIC. I like it even better than HALO and Hoist the Colours and I didn't think that would happen. In the premiere Geoff asked for suggestions on what to do next and a lot of us asked for The Witcher. *fingers crossed Omar did Carry On My Wayward Son and Superstition with them.
I never noticed Layne patting the sword before. Love it! Not sharpening it, later, he’s actually patting the hilt. Like “Good claymore! You’ll spill much blade-dew for me, won’t you?”
As a fellow Elder Scrolls player, i'm reasonably sure Voiceplay either also plays it, or they are *really meticulous* with their research, because they got everything SPOT ON. (I'd love them to do something from The Witcher games soundtrack as well, at some point, because there's some gorgeous music on those games too.) And yes, Cesar has been a master-stroke of an addition to Voiceplay - with every new video they've released, I've come to adore him a little bit more. I love how he goes *all in* with all of them, and he's so versatile, able to do everything from baritone to high tenor.
So many things to love here. Geoff… well, he’s Geoff. Nuff said. Cesar used a slightly different timbre in his solo than I’ve heard before and I love it. Omar’s top notes are just perfect for this. Eli has the same kind of dangerous look to him but he pulled back on that grit we’ve heard in previous solos from him and I love his straight tones. And Layne is just always so innovative-whatever the heck he (?) is doing with those deep reverberating percussions is insane. And the set, lighting and effects are awesome, as well-the flickering firelight in the background, the shock wave when they shouted “fus ro dah,” all so well thought out and delivered. They just keep outdoing themselves. I loved that you gave up on commenting and just watched it through the first time and then went back to see it again. Nice reaction!
As a non-gamer (never played a video game in my life), I'm discovering the wonderful world of music from games (with The Halo Theme and now this). I've been missing some absolutely wonderful music. And I also like learning about the games. Now when I talk to people I don't sound like such a stick in the mud!! So keep educating me with your comments, please.
I've enjoyed pretty much every reactors reactions to this song. But I especially love watching the reactors that I know are gamers and at least a little bit familiar with Elder Scrolls lore. Even if you haven't played much of Skyrim., I can tell from you're expressions that you are pretty familiar with the game.
Yeah, What It Do Dave's reaction was priceless - he was fully geeking out on all the lore, and when they did the "fus ro dah!" part he almost had a meltdown!
I'll be honest remembering Geoff's Shenandoah made your head hurt I wasn't sure you'd make it through this one! When this dropped on Patreon I stopped it so many times I got on my own bloody nerves. This is such a great arrangement by Geoff managing to incorporate some of the Skyrim theme into the song. This one is genuinely epic. Everyone as always is incredible. Poor Cesar was wearing 9kg of chainmail & gauntlets that looked like they could do damage.
I would also like to add The Witcher soundtrack as another source of inspiration for Voiceplay! And I agree with you about Cesar, he's just grown so beautifully into his role in the group, getting better and better with each video.
They said they thought they went a little overboard with this one. NOT! It's perfect. Just love the special effect they added at 3:17 that wasn't in the Patreon preview. Gave it that Magical VoicePlay touch. Geoff with a skull in hand and the hammer, Layne sharpening this sword with a stone. Cesear wearing 20 pounds of chainmail and those gauntlets. I'm guessing Eli in a Mange. Cesar and Omar as Elves. The Villans Lair at PattyCake Productions was the perfect setting for this video. Love this. Omar has been in other of their videos, SuperStition, and Carry On My Wayward Son.
This is just unbelievable. Geoff with the deep long opening and the vocal Olympics with running up and down the notes in the middle. Omar's highs and everyone else matching in intensity and talent. Wow.
Omar appears with them in Carry On Wayward Son. He's the brother of EJ Cardona who joins VP on Go The Distance. Both great singers. And both join seamlessly with VP. This one is just sensational.
Omar also appears in Carry On My Wayward Son, which is a lot less theatrical than much of VoicePlay's work but is well arranged and well sung nonetheless. As for Cesar, he had me as soon as I saw him with that blind eye in Hoist. I mean, sure, somewhere in the back of my mind I know there's probably a top-notch make-up artist that does all their make-up and so they are not necessarily each responsible individually for their own appearance. But I see him staring right into my soul with his one good eye, singing about the Queen's bones, and I get chills, and I think that man is a born pirate if ever there was one. Of course the make-up and costuming were brilliant here as well.
Love the reaction! My same feelings when i first watched this. I then had to go seeking out if other fans reacted to this too and yours is wo derful! This song was my first intro to the group and i am in love with Geoff's voice. His version of Misty Mountain Low, soo dang cool.
A couple of years ago, VoicePlay also did a cover of “Warriors” by Imagine Dragons, which is connected with League of Legends in some way if I understand correctly. It’s great and I highly recommend it!!
If you enjoyed this, you might enjoy some of Malukah's Skyrim / Elder Scrolls content. Her Skyrim fans liked her covers so much they successfully petitioned to have her made a Bard in Elder Scrolls online. Peter Hollens does some covers with her and some solo ones. His collaboration on the Skyrim theme with violinist Lindsey Sterliing is epic.
great as always but wow hot take warning calling TLOU2 a bad game! I haven't played but I would not hesitate to say you are in the vast minority with that one,
@@Tymdek Looking at her own playlists, I'd guess she's religious, and presumably thinks fantasy is evil. Shrug. In which case I can't conceive of any reason for her to be here at all. Not her thing.
