I've been avoiding for a long time, I guess its time to check it out! Original Video: • OOGIE BOOGIE'S SONG | ... #VoicePlay #OogieBoogieSong #Reaction
The fact he goes from a B4 to an E1 in a matter of a few bars is just astonishing. Voiceplay’s complex harmonies, rhythms, arpeggios, etc. coupled with their character voices are often overshadowed by Geoff’s performance, but they are just phenomenal.
Geoff's performance is amazing, for sure. But if you sit and listen to really take in J-None, Eli and Earl, with their character voices and the talent they exhibit using those voices, the whole production is phenomenal.
It was an E1 and done where it belonged. This arrangement was absolutely flawless. This was a study in voice acting, without a doubt. This was a theatrical performance more than anything else.
The guys love the movie too. I think that why they are so good. What's This, was the first one they did. You can tell it's a bit simpler and lower budget. This one, and This is Halloween, are my favorites. They also did Kidnap the Sandy Claws, with Rachel Potter. That's really catchy too.
Voiceplay - My Mother told me you will like even more for Geoff's low note not thrown in randomly, but important to the song. In an unexpected way! Just like Eli finally the center of attention. And Layne actually more than usual as well.
My Mother Told me was almost my first reaction video. But I chickened out, and then I watched it, and then I watched another reactor, react to it, and that's what pushed me to start this channel. There's actually very few VoicePlay videos I haven't already watched, which is the only reason there isn't more of them on the channel.
I'm so glad you enjoyed this! I agree that VoicePlay really did make this their own - I think one of the great things about VoicePlay doing their own arrangements is that they really know each other's strengths, and can really play to those in the arrangements. (Also, the lights in their mouths are LED mouthpieces you can get from, like, Party City or from Amazon.)
You aren't wrong. There's only been less than a handful of times when I thought something didn't fit well in a VoicePlay song. I know they have their weaknesses as well, but the arrangements are done to play up their strengths, and lean on the strengths of others when they do face a weakness.
Yeah we love Geoff going lower not higher to end the song. It fits here. The other guys cartoony voices are just great. Their syncopation sections were brilliant. I read elsewhere that Santa was somebody’s brother-in-law or something like that. Maybe someone else can pin it down. “This Is Halloween” is great, too.
Other fanbases wouldn't hesitate to list their favorite vocalists burping a E1 as a practical part of their range. If a soprano hits something in the 1st or 2nd octave that too should not be included as part of their true range. Avi Kaplan has demonstrated effortless control and use of 6th and 7th octave overtones that he manipulated like magic while simultaneously maintaining a bass note. That too should be considered practical range. Might as well fight fire with fire. Ok that's a horrible analogy.
I was thinking when you were saying you were reluctant to watch any covers of this, that if you didn’t like it (I knew you would) that I would unsubscribe from your channel (jokingly, of course). I have seen this one many, many times and always enjoy reactions (I’ve never seen anyone not love this one). So happy you enjoyed it and thankful we had the opportunity to see you watch it for the first time! Have you seen Geoff’s cover of the Beatles’”Blackbird”? It’s one of my favorites from him.
Well sorry to put you on edge! As for Blackbird, I actually wasn't a fan. I love the song, but its just another one of those songs where all the covers just sound the same, with just a different voice singing the part. I wasn't in to it. I like most of his though.
@@DanFromHali you should check out Elvira by Home Free and the Oak Ridge Boys( if you haven't reacted to it) Geoff in voiceplay actually did their arrangement. Love your reaction ✌️✌️
@@DanFromHali Yes, they did the Sing-Off tour together, and have continued to do things together - there's an aca top ten of Bro Country featuring Chris Rupp, of course Tim was in Just Sing, somebody told you about the movie theme top ten Rob did and Tim also made a short appearance in one of the Patty Cake productions videos.
yea i agree lane is not only a beatboxer hes also a drumkit and a producer. and santa is geoffs brother in law. everytime he says brother in the song i crack a smile cause its true :). that in their mouths is like a 90s thing its lights. with the sound quality for us on the vid we cant hear the last note that well but i bet most ppl that join know it already. the + of the sound quality a bit lower is that some sounds i normaly barely hear are really there now .
The lights in mouth can be gotten at fairs. They are also found around Halloween in stores. You are correct on the last note being an E1 that is done with subharmonics.
Voctave did a fantastic Disneyland Halloween medley with Jon Cozart on his channel. His channel is called ‘Paint’ lol idk why. If you search ‘Voctave Jon Cozart Halloween’ it shows up. It is AMAZING.
I haven't caught up with the video where you made the remark about unnecessary bass drops. You're not alone in your thinking. Don't get me wrong, I adore Geoff and his range is formidable. I just think that when you use it in almost every song and it's made to be the center of attention for that section, it starts not being special so much. And there are times where I just don't think it belongs there, like it's overdone. Again, this is my opinion and I'm not taking anything away from anyone in Voice Play's talent. Great reaction again, keep up the awesome work.
Yeah, exactly. And it does fit here for sure, and I feel like you could probably argue that it's a trademark, but it just doesn't always fit in well. Thank you again for your comment Chris!
Opening to video is like say not to listen to any other songs if you have listened to one from the genre remake to a song is like listening to different songs
I have already watched it. I watched everything on his channel. And there is only a handful of VP videos I havent watched before starting this channel.
Not a fact but most likely they had something in their mouth and it's cgi. The most practical and efficient thing would be having boxing mouth guards in green or blue. That would give them endless freedom to make effects. It's not a choke hazzard and it's essentially a green screen in their mouth. Just making an assumption.
