I was 17 when I joined the army jan.75.If I was a few years older I would have been over there. The way those radicals treated those Veterans when they came home was criminal. Thanks Charles I will never forget.

Welcome Home Charles! If you are still alive, I wish you peace and I thank you for everything that you went through while you were in Vietnam. I thank you for giving the raw details of war, it gives me a better understanding of what it was like. I am a wife of a Vietnam Vet, my husband will not talk about the things that he seen or went through. He suffers from PTSD and Agent Orange. I am a Desert Shield / Desert Storm vet and I can tell you that what I seen and went through does not even compare to what you have experienced. God Bless and Welcome Home!

I could not finish watching the last 10 minutes or so as it was tearing me up emotionally. Those of us who were not really listed as combat troops also saw and experienced some terrible things. I am now 78 but think about what I did and saw every day. May God bless you sir.

God bless this man and I am forever grateful for his service. I know the world and our country feels so lost as of late, but with all of the things going on, no matter the outcome, I am so thankful to live in a place that has been kept above water by countless men and women like this. Whatever the future may hold, I praise and have the utmost respect to all of those that have fought to get us this far.

In the war I went to in afghanistan in 2011, generally, support troops did not really see action. They rarely left the forward operating bases. Mechanics rarely left the wire, but here I get to hear from a support MOS army soldier and how even with his mos (military occupational specialty) that job did not protect him from the horrors and random chaos of Vietnam. This is one of the first vietnam war stories i have heard from a non-combat arms soldier in the U.S. Army. That should tell all of us here how brutal Vietnam was. There was no "front line" of this. Afghanistan was a similar guerilla war, but this to me sheds light on the reality of that civil war that america fought in. These stories are usually told by infantry, artillery, tankers, special operations and combat engineer guys. I was a cavalry scout in a platoon supporting special operations units to train Afghan Local Police and conduct village stability operations. The enemy did not get close enough to shoot at us, and they tried to attack us with IED's and mortars. This guy went through some crazy stuff and being a POG did not keep you out of combat. Something simple like a soda can and a grenade hidden into it to explode and wipe out a squad or half a platoon. I cannot imagine support troops of my generation going through this because the discipline outside of combat arms branches of the army is a joke now.
