I like the point of the 4 cylinder jeeps that were beefed up for armor, machine gun , ammo In the worst conditions possible. Dust, mud, floods, very hot and humid weather. Now that I'm older I really appreciate the ruggedness of military vehicles. Thanks for the vid

Seems like I don't get to watch these videos very often when I do I just want to thank you for working so hard to bring to light the sacrifice that our heroes gave it also says in the Bible to much is given much is required and some gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country 🙏

Really liked this guy. So laid back . Glad to see he can be after some of the horrors he went through. Really liked seeing the MPs version of that place. Awesome work Larry.

Being a teenager during the latter years of the Vietnam War, I can relate to much of the background information Mr. Nichols provided... especially the "Get under the desk and cover". But there were many changes during the Vietnam Era, and I'm glad that Mr. Nichols put those years into the context they were. I am proud of our Vietnam Vets, and all they accomplished. Thank you SSG Nichols for your service.

I worked with an MP in VietNam,Gerard Babski...he became a second father to me...I asked him about his Nam adventure and he told me he probably had the most boring job of "babysitting planes day and night, and he came back home and became a CHiP for 17 yrs......Many,many stories about THAT part of his life-a story for another day,and obviously moved back east, here on the coast of Maine, where we built boats, fiberglass, for the disgustingly wealthy, for the most part, again another story, another day..................Thanx for yet another spine-tingling chapter of another man`s heroic life in that hell of VietNam..........Steve

I was assigned to B/504 from February, '69 to August, '69. We were quartered at Camp Schmidt, which bordered Pleiku Air Base. Charley used to fire rockets at the air base and we would catch the short rounds. I sustained a blast injury from one of them, and spent 6 weeks in the hospital in Japan, and then was sent back to B/504. Everything SSG Nichols said about the highway is true. We had a number of gun jeeps, and V100s were also starting to be used. He also mentions the gun trucks. I remember trucks named Ace of Spades, Ho Chi's Hearse, and Prisoner of War.

SUPPORTING the THREE I am the Infantry, follow me. not a foot soldier, we're much more you see. We'll take the fight to the enemy. I am the Infantry, the first of the three. I am the Cavalry, follow me. A modern horse soldier in an APC. Charging straight forward to the enemy. I am the Cav, most daring of the three. I am the Armor, follow me. The arm of decision I'll always be. When the going gets rough, call on me. I am the Armor, the best of the three. Armor, Cav, and Infantry rush headlong into the melee. Braking the lines like an angry sea deep into enemy territory. Approaching a crossroads, what do we see? The area secured by two lonely MPs Directing us forward, how can this be? How long have they been waiting for me? What a crazy person an MP must be. He has no repower or armor like me. And I thought everyone followed the three Armor, Cav, and Infantry. I am the MP, don't follow me. You don't want to be where I will be. Guarding the crossroads, waiting for the three. Just my partner, a sixteen, a sixty and me. With the objective taken, wait and see. No one will remember the lonely MP Who held this ground so they could run free, But that's my job, supporting the three. Written by SGT Allan Perkins, 1982 (an MP)

I had the privilege of serving with Joel in the Air National Guard. He truly was a man of honor. Sure, he carried the burden of his war experiences with him, but he pressed on. He was my supervisor when we were sent to the LA riots in ‘92. We were lucky to have him. I still think of him often. 🫡
