I must have fitted dozens of Linea's and still service a couple i fitted 16 years ago (approx) and still going strong. Common problems were the front of hydraulic block plastic cover and guts available as service kit but very common problem was customer unable to generate hot water or not hot enough and rads not hot enough although both stats turned up full, the fault would be the plastic stat knobs had actually snapped, so although the stats were set at high they were'nt, the spindle behind the knob which inserted into to two variable resistors on the pcb were snapped hence knobs doing nothing. Vokera modified these so problem sorted albeit the first time I had this problem it must have took me 3 hours to find the fault, good boilers. Vokera brought out the Excel after this which came no where near the Linea. The new range very impressive.
@HeatingGeek
@HeatingGeek 5 лет назад

So in normal operating conditions should the boiler be reaching 80+ degrees in DHW mode or is that due to it’s age and possible scale/restriction within the primary circuit. I understand why it dumps the heat into the CH system but wasn’t sure if it should be getting that hot in the first place
@HeatingGeek
@HeatingGeek 3 года назад
It shouldn't really be getting that hot :-)

Had exactly this today. Diverter pin seized spike so changed the diverted valve. After which with just HW no heat down the flow but with HW and CH heat also went down the flow and to the hot tap. Question why is this a neat trick? I still don’t get the logic/advantage?
@HeatingGeek
@HeatingGeek 6 месяцев назад
If you have the heating on but run a bath for 15 min the heating will cool down. With this Logic on the boiler it will still send some heat out.

Hi could you explain what you were doing when testing the high and low with the manometer specifically what you where taking off from the gas valve and what this was simulating. Is this how you alternate from high to low with out using the display??

I was pulling off the modulation lead so the gas valve dropped the gas pressure to "low".

Just catching up with your back catalogue. Love your logical fault finding approach.👍 If I followed the progression of this correctly there was never a fault with the boiler, the customer/engineer just did not understand the boiler control panel and the logic within?

Another excellent video mate! keep them coming please LOL! In all honestly that non condensing boiler should be replaced on efficiency terms alone, but I suppose that’s their choice, What do you reckon of viessmann boilers ? I’ve been fitting them past 4 to five years now and I’m very impressed by them ,nice & easy to fit / work on, also the customers are pleased too , Especially in regards to quietness and efficiency Some saying savings of 40%!
@SalimKhan-gk1fh
@SalimKhan-gk1fh 6 лет назад
Jonny Mosquito Strawman at Large . Hi Johnny thanks for your comment and I suppose I have to agree with you. I’m from down south of England and here we replace boilers for no reason at all with new ones. I’ve seen them replaced when all they needed where diaphragms or thermistors. Some of the big companies are worse for replacing for no reason
@SalimKhan-gk1fh
@SalimKhan-gk1fh 6 лет назад
Jonny Mosquito Strawman at Large Yes I know what you mean mate, down here some guys don’t even take the cover off to have a look at the fault But simply condemn it as ‘end of life too old’! Looks like boilers are going down the fridge /washing machine route ie knackered after 5 years!
