The closed box ones are technically the best as they force the air to come in strictly from outside versus the engine-however I installed one on my Silverado to get rid of the clunky stuff that doesn’t need to be there
I bought a 2001 f150 king ranch, named it Gary from your build Larry. I actually ordered this same I take for my truck and it still hasn’t even shipped yet. Glad to see the build though keep up the good work.
is it possible to get that plexi glass cover? i just ordered me one of these and accidentally got the one with the chrome top :( too late to cancel the order
Super clean truck 🤙🏻I love this gen. They are very good trucks! There are 2 local to my town in Alabama that are just like this and stupid clean. 1 of them is a red 4 door 4x4 6.0 maxx. 1500. Super rare.
Gotta love the simple but good install videos. I’m considering getting one for my ‘07 F150 King ranch and this makes me want one more lol. I’m so pumped to see when you buy a new f150😉😉
My biggest thing on the cold air intake is to make my exhibit sound better. 2014 Silverado 5.3 short tube headers Borla atak exhaust system. SOUNDS GREAT!!!!!
Im at the point as well in my stage of biulding up my GMT800 escalade AWD 6.0 and this Intake looks to be the part. Im deff getting this to compliment the performance pipe setup after it gets done. Awesome man. good review Also i might custom modifiy the hole at the bottom of the box and make it 3 in hole and place a tube about 5 inches down so it can soak up more air directly.. dam i cant wait to get my hands on this for my truck!
Would've been easier to line up the maf. If you put the screw through the maf. Put gasket on throw it through and repeat. But either way very helpful and well done videos love them, have the same truck but a 3/4 ton, stumbled upon your videos and loved them finally given me the motivation to do the small odds and ends to beef the truck up and save her from the rust belt.
Looks good, I see this and think: "if I got one id be able to see if something is trying to make a nest without unbolting the box to look under the stock filter every time I check" lol
I have a cold air intake (along with many other upgrades) and it MOST DEFINITELY helps. Better mpg, turbo spools faster, and the turbo sounds a ton better.
@@josephmimun9427 it’s got a lot of stuff done. Injectors, full system, fuel delivery spring, upgraded turbo, tuned. But I had all that with a normal intake and I noticed a difference after putting on the cold air
Hey Man Love the videos just bought a 03 sierra 1500hd am definitely gonna put the Volant air intake system but had a question what long pipes did you go with for the headers I want to do the same with my exaust
I got a 2016 5.3 Silverado with a k & n intake, Tune, and throttle body spacer, with dual exhaust and I don’t notice much gains. I’m starting to think without headers and a cam the little stuff is useless.
If you have the 5.3 then I'd suggest you find the 6.2L intake and throttle body. They bolt right up to the 5.3, it's a pretty easy swap, and you'll get noticeable gains throughout the powerband.
If you improve air in such as intake, throttle body, and intake manifold then you do need to improve air out with headers and less restrictions(cats, muffler). Cam is always going to get great results in a ls truck bc they stock cams are a joke.
What’s a good cold air intake for my 2013 5.3? It’s completely stock right not but I’m gonna change that and it’s getting exhaust work done to it next week so I’d like to get a cold air intake asap
I bought overtime every CAI you possibly could for an 05 cateye that I had, the one I hated the most is this one you just bought lol I'm just lookin out, but your going to start finding little blue pieces of that honeycomb filter in your throttle body and intake once you start putting some time on it, that was my experience with volant, I bought it because I liked the sealed box as well
@@lmfscrew what is the update? I just refound your channel after getting my 05 Sierra SLT Z71. It needs quite a bit of work but I’m looking forward to working on it with my sons and friend
Since a Cold Air Intake is suppose to take cool air from the front of the Truck and not the Engine compartment, if that is the case then my Silverado came with a Cold Intake from the Factory. The Air Box only receives air from the Front of the Grille, no engine hot air involved. Yes the Air Filter is not exposed and flat, but it operates on the same principle.
Hey brother was watching you other videos and I had a question I got a 2 wheel drive 2015 GMC Sierra I recently installed a 3 inch leveling kit stock back I know you recommended to upgrade your upper control arms if I should how soon
I feel like for the cost of the volant intake you should get a washable filter instead of having to pay another $125 to replace the filter when it gets dirty.
I think they definitely look cool but honestly doubt it's giving any mechanical benefit over a high performance filter in a factory air box as the airflow is the same only the surface area and filter material would potentially effect airflow. Then even it does breath easier that would only improve performance if the factory one is so bad that it forces the ecm to reduce fuel flow to get the proper air/fuel mixture.
They came on the truck if you watched the video of him showing the new truck they were already on there. But if you want headlights like that go on google type in your year sierra and they will show you all the headlights they make for our sierra’s. And then you pick your poison
@@lmfscrew Awesome! I am personally fixing up an 02 f150 right now, its been wrecked bad, but I'm following what you do on larry to kinda see how stuff would look on my truck! Thanks for the great content!
After having a S&B on your old truck what made you go with the Volant this time? I’m looking for a cold air intake for my truck to replace the eBay hot air intake that was on it when I bought it. I was looking at the S&B but the Volant looks better to mr so I’m just curious why you made the choice you did
I have the same question. What made you choose Volant after having multiple S&B’s? On my ‘17 Silverado, I tried the Airaid and added a better filter, and have the RC CAI now. RC sounds better, but Airaid felt like it pulled better. Considering the price jump to S&B (after watching you rave about them lol) but independently considered Volant. Now I see this video, and am even more undecided lol. Is the a noticeable difference between the two? Thank you!
Just look up on the internet and here on youtube , if a cold air intake really works, and youll get alot of mixed answers thats what hes refering to in the begining of the video.
