One of the most frequently fabricated orthoses is the volar wrist cock- up orthosis. This orthosis holds the wrist in extension but allows for functional use of the thumb and fingers. The wrist cock-up orthosis is commonly prescribed for patients with carpal tunnel syndrome, wrist sprains or tendinitis, wrist arthritis or following forearm and carpal surgeries or fractures. The orthosis should support the forearm by covering two thirds of its length. Care should be taken not to block full flexion of the ulnar digits at the distal border.
The demonstrated volar wrist cock-up orthosis is made of Orfit Flex NS, 3.2 mm. More information can be found on our website: www.orfit.com/e...
