@@iaingirling9530 agree as dean stockwell said in several interviews they just clicked got along really well . They co-starred in 2 other programs after quantum leap .one was NCIS, the other was star trek I believe .
This is from early in the series when they were aware just how musically inclined Scott Bakula is, but didn't want to lean too much into it for obvious reasons. He still sounds amazing for improvising and scatting around the melody.
I love hearing Scott Bakula talking on the DVD saying he didn't sing this song as good as he can sing because Sam didn't know he could sing yet! I loved hearing Scott Bakula talk before other episodes also on the DVDs for Quantum Leap. Also on the Quantum Leap CD Scott Bakula talks in an interview! I love hearing Scott singing!!! And I love this song!

What I always loved was the fact that Al could have a good time all by himself! My favorite example of this is when Sam was "Sam Beiderman" in the asylum and Al was using a catchy little rap tune to teach another patient the alphabet. He was all over the room and had the whole place going! Great bit.
This episode always makes me laugh I like how he starts tapping on the microphone making it believe like it was malfunctioning so he could listen to the words and memorize them
I'm so stoked I'm going to get to see Scott perform live on Broadway in New York (February 2024) in the Connector at the MCC theater. I cant wait to see him live and in person singing🥰

I would of liked to see Dr. Sam Beckett leaped back to 1776 into another ancestor of the Beckett family that fought in American Revolutionary War. The fans of the show got see where he leaped into his great grandfather as a Union solider during the Civil War.
Personally I never liked it when the series broke it's own rules. When Sam lept outside his lifetime into the Civil War in that 1993 episode, as well as meeting more famous people like Elvis and Marilyn Monroe's chauffer, I knew the series was about to be cancelled...and it was.
@@John-ct9zs well those episodes were good i liked those episodes. and the show wasn't cancelled because of low ratings or because season five was bad it got the axe because nbc didn't keep their end of the deal to renew the show for a season six and they cancelled the show at the last minute. that and it was the early 90's back then in 1992 and 1993 a lot of show's got cancelled early and got the axe like back in 1992 they cancelled the Cosby show after eight seasons but it could have easily made it to ten.
@@coreynance3874 Disagree with you on a couple of points. First, I disagree that the Civil War episode, the Elvis episode, and Marilyn Monroe episode were good. The Marilyn one was kinda watchable, the Elvis and Civil War one was absolute cringe, but all 3 were a clear signal to me in 1993 that the show was likely going to end, because it was breaking with it's own formula that it established 5 seasons ago. The only "famous historical event/person" episode that I thought was legit good was Lee Harvey Oswald, and series creator Bellasario wanted to do that one, not NBC forcing him to do it. I remember 1993, I was in high school. NBC was pushing for a more straight up, in your face traditional time travel show where the time traveler goes to famous historical events and is always meeting famous people. NBC execs weren't fond of Quantum Leap's unique approach of dealing with ordinary folks and smaller plots. When series creator Donald P. Bellisario saw what NBC was pushing, he decided it was probably best to write a series finale, with the possibility of a 6th season open. Quantum Leap had a good run, 5 seasons, it wasn't cancelled early. It was cancelled earlier then I wanted that's for sure, but it had a good run. The Cosby Show had a great run, and it was time for that show to go in 1992, it had gotten stale by 1989, and was an 80s show gasping for life in the 90s.
@@John-ct9zs why does everybody hate season five so much it is a very good season i very strongly disagree with people saying it's bad. out of its 22 episodes it had 13 or 14 very good episodes that were awesome and epic and about "seven" good but just average episodes. it had two three parter's and one two parter. there's the the evil leaper trilogy the trilogy three parter the lee Harvey Oswald two parter at the beginning of season five there's the episodes killing time nowhere to run goodbye norma jean the leap between the state's Memphis Melody where Sam leaped into Elvis and mirror image the series finale. i can't remember every episode in that season but from what i remember most of those episodes back then like 90% percent of them were good. the rest of those episodes the other uh eight were good too but i wouldn't call them awesome or epic or anything the regular normal episode's the rest of them i would just call "average" or "decent" because i thought they were just average.
