I had to remove the housing of the VWR-AUX part in order to stuff the card between the air vents above the radio, but it worked first try, and I didn't need to remove the glove box or any part of the dash. I love the sound of the stereo system in my 2000 Beetle, but without Spotify and Pandora, it's pretty limited (who has tapes and CDs anymore?). I was able to find all the parts on Amazon, except VWR-AUX, which I bought from OEM Sound like you suggested. I like the way the original radio looks and didn't want to replace it. Couldn't have added the Aux without this video--REALLY appreciate it!
my VW has an audio input already, but it got loosen somehow and I think i need to replace the port. How did you take the glove compartment out because in my car the port is in the bottom of it.
I just did this modification the other day. It was about 98x more difficult than it looks. In the video where it shows him shoving the box through the hole, there is actually no room to do this. It was absolutely necessary to take off the glove box as this was the only way to get the box behind the dashboard. And I thought this was gonna take me about 15-20 minutes to complete, was I wrong.
If you put the interface sideways all the way to the back there is enought space to push it down undert the radio, I will find a picture of the radio space later and post it
I was able to remove the auxiliary housing and push the card that was inside the housing up above the radio between the air vents. After that, I fed the wires down below the radio and loosened the star screws above the cupholders enough to stuff the excess wire underneath the plastic after drilling the hole for the auxiliary. It did take longer than I thought it would, but I didn't have to remove the glove box or any part of the dash.
How do we connect the rca cables to the input module box, behind ac unit, and then pull them out to connect via 3.5 rca adapter to aux input installed by cigarette lighter plug?

I'm finding it really difficult to remove the radio itself, I have VW Beetle 2008 with a CD player and there's nothing to grip the radio and pull it out. I have the Mercedes's keys but they just pull straight out if I pull on them
Hi there, I put this into my 2001 beetle, and it sounds like the music is in mono, instead of stereo...I can't hear the vocals of the songs very well....and the music isn't the same quality as the music coming from the radio. I used the same equipment that you have used here...Is there a way I can fix this? I would really appreciate you advice...thanks
No, the pioneer radio didn't sound good actually it was horrible and it was a rectangular radio so it didn't fit in the dash the problem was not the pioneer radio, it was the VW moonson system , the auxiliary adapter was a lot cheaper and sounds great

Jess Jess u can try eBay ! Or you can buy a thing called an fm adapter go to target or Best Buy and u plug it into the cigarette lighter and it works as an aux chord for your phone !
The work seems unnessary. You can just buy an aftermarket bluetooth stereo. You can access your phone even if its in your pocket, purse, or gym bag in the trunk.
@@carolinebitz3791 You should buy a AUX or Bluetooth Solution. The Radio FM transmitters have the worst quality while AUX or Bluetooth sound much better and can be installed almost invisibly. You can get them via ebay or Amazon just look for your radio model + bluetooth as search terms.
