Volkswagen Golf Mk1 1.6D Diesel starting after 24 years sitting in a wooden shed.
The year 2000 was the last time this Golf was registered and on the road.
Too bad we didn't get to see it being dragged out the shed. That would have been a real barn find video

We have VW Square Back that was given to us by Royal family when I was in Thailand back in 1970. It was beautiful VW and still in service until 1986 when the engine was brown out. We brought a new engine for about $2k and sold it in 1988 for $3K. I love VW made in Germany not the junk one that sold in US that is very expensive to repair and basically junk.

@@JunkVWs Yes, the US made using the components from cheap labor country such as Mexico, China, that majority does not passed inspections like W. Germany. The dimension and materials used are much lower grade. No "Con Bon" systems when assembly. Same as another parts like Battery, we have Bodendent brand that made in W. Germany and last for 90 months easily! I wish they sold this type of quality and workmanship to Thais Royal family!

1.6D best motor, this will drive forever, I have mine in mk2 and even without oil etc, always can drive it, enjoy it!

To get rid of the smell you would have to remove all the interior (including the dashboard) and clean everything before putting it back together. This also gives you the occasion to fix any chewed wires so the car doesn't catch on fire.

Great Video! Thanx. I used to drive a 1977 VW PASSAT (rare automatic)apple Green outside and Brown Velours inside!🥰 Best light car with front wheel drive,especially in Winter!
