I watched the video and this 55 yr old woman (me) climbed in the trunk through the seats, took the panel off and sure enough the broken plastic piece fell out. I found where to order by scrolling through the comments. I just ordered the part through your jettatrunk.com site.
You can also push down on the trunk lid the same time u turn the key (or use key fob). But the timing and pressure is critical... try it several times and it will open. Mine has been broken for several months, and I open the trunk 3-4 times a day using this method... but enough is enough, ordered a new plastic piece today. 😁
Yeah it works for a while then it breaks another part where the rods connect usually as it wasnt designed to work that way. I did it that way for a while until it busted completely then designed this fix to solve the issue completely.
First off I would like to inform all buyers that there is a person who is trying to copy our part and they sell only the "hook" part. If you bought this part you will most likely be buying it again as I have about a dozen of his parts broken from customers who tried his copy and it broke again. His copy is even weaker than the dealer replacement part. If you ordered from JettaTrunk website and we messed up please contact us directly from the website and we will fix it immediately.
I removed all the fuzzy screws and when when I took the fabricy/fuzzy panel off, the little black plastic piece fell to the bottom of my trunk. Sure enough, that was the problem. Any ideas if there is a new metal designed one??? And how much??
where do i buy that piece? you said "we provide the extra long screws" so i am assuming this is a kit of sorts that I can order? you have no links to where it could be purchased though. thanks!
Process of elimination, the plastic piece is not broken. I believe it's the motor the actuator. Do you have a RU-vid video on how to replace that and you have a part that I can buy from you to replace it. Thank you in advance
I bought your kit, but I still haven't been able to install it because I can't get the liner completely removed because of the emergency handle. Do you have a video showing that or is there an instruction for that? Thanks
Yup as shown in video that will work for a short time. Eventually the part will fully crack and even that wont work. Might be a few weeks might be a few months but eventually to fix when fully broken you will get to crawl in from back seat to open, which is no fun. Ask me how I know.
