Great concise video! Just wanted to say CR2032 will work in a pinch, but you'll have to seat the battery in perfectly so that it doesn't pop up, and then carefully push the cover closed over it. I discovered this because 2032 is a much more common size in retail stores and my battery decided to die while I was out and about and no one nowhere had 2025 and I discovered by directly comparing it that 2032 was the same diameter, just a little thicker top to bottom, hence why the more cautious insertion/seating of it into the key fob.

You saved my ass by saying the battery name. I drove to target and my car wouldn’t lock or start back up I got the battery out but it shot out into oblivion after the spring popped it out. You saying the actually battery it used was my only saving grace. I love you lol.

Seriously thank you so much! I have been having troubles with my car battery recently, and when I went out today and I couldn't unlock the car I thought it was that again. When I used the key and the alarm went off I realized that it was just the keyfob. Was confused why it only lasted about a year and a half, but super glad it's so easy to replace the battery and only 6 bucks for 10 batteries! I went from being pissed to being moderately annoyed/laughing at the situation a bit.

THE KEY/FOB THEN HAS TO BE REPOGRAMED TO THE VEHICLE.... You can identify the key manually, insert the key into the lock slot on the left exterior door opening handle, turn it to the locking direction and hold it for 5 seconds, then turn it to the opening direction and hold it for 5 seconds. Then you can activate the remote control by pressing the on / off keys on the remote control.

Once you change the battery, do you not have to resyc or reprogram the key to the car? Just pop the battery out and the key will work fine? I have a 2015 VW Golf.

CR2032 batteries last longer but are a bit tricky to get in since they're slightly thicker. You need something small and flat to push the battery in while you're putting the cover back on.
