The 2021 Volkswagen Passat is a smooth-riding, great-driving family car available in sedan and wagon body styles. Sure, it’s nowhere near as popular as Volkswagen’s Tiguan crossovers, but the Passat is a smart buyer’s choice. It is big and spacious, and it feels better-built than any other Volkswagen. Quality is high, and so is equipment, despite the fact the price isn’t ridiculous.
But the best Passat of all is the 206TSI R-Line wagon. Using a 206kW version of VW’s EA888 turbo petrol engine combined with a six-speed wet clutch DSG and AWD, the Passat 206TSI gets a move on, but it also cossets you. Is this a good upgrade from a Golf R Wagon … and $70k well spent?
Rivals to the Volkswagen Passat include the Mazda 6, Skoda Superb, Hyundai Sonata and Toyota Camry.
