Just forgot the last step of RESETTING THE SERVICE REMINDER. Do read the description for more specific details on the service. Relevant part numbers have also been mentioned. This is the 1.2L Polo Petrol Highline which is a 3 Cylinder Gasoline Injection Engine. All questions welcome. Credits for the Thumbnail :- instagram.com/the__travelling__soldier/
Thanks for the heads up while removing the oil filter as I too wouldn't wanna drop any oil over the alternator.. this is exactly what the assswipes did at the VW workshop Thanks to them my alternator is about to die now.
Indian version of ChrisFix! Amazingly informative video. The camera angle, description of parts and everything is spot on!! Keep it up mate!! I wish you could have included coolant flush in this video. Consider it for the next one. Nonetheless, amazing job!!
Hey! Glad you liked it. Would have loved to do a coolant flush, but we omitted it since the car is only 3 year old and the VW G13 has a very solid life and is practically maintenance free unless there's deposits or Oil Mixing in the Coolant Reservoir. But yes, will definitely include it next time
Thanks for the video ! will service my polo now . This is a best alternative for yearly general service , where it costs 8K+ if we go for actual VW service station . Thanks again .
Glad you liked it. Just check again with service guys since labour and part cost has dramatically been slashed. If it's around the 5k mark, you can still go and service it with them for peace of mind. If you wish to DIY, do go ahead!
Yes, you can refer to the Official VW Group Service Manual for Polo Vento. That is the manual I try and follow for every car I work on. You may email me on fluidicjoy@gmail.com and I'll be happy to share a copy with you
Hi, 1.0 L TSI has a different service procedure. Need to inspect and see what all changes we will see in parts and service procedures in that engine. I'll try and perform that service if that engine comes to me soon.
Only for this much thing the Sevice center charges for 10 to 12 k ? I am really very shocked ... I just now purchased a polo and this will be helping me alot ... #punekar❤️
I have 1.2 mpi petrol polo, normally local service center fill 3 litres or 3.2 litres, can you help me in this, exactly how much amount of oil we should fill
Yes will do! Spark plugs on this car were recently replaced so we didn't want to touch them. VW Coolant being long life and the bottle wasn't contaminated so we didn't flush the coolant. Will show brake pad replacement when it's due. I prefer Brake Fluid replacement by VW since they use a Pressure Bleeder thus minimizing human error of air entering the system. But will try and cover most of your suggestions! Thanks!
Never done it on any of my old vehicles..12 years 94000kms old. Might be more for aesthetics. Slight amount of rust is normal, but it shouldn't be so large that the exhaust seems to be cracked because of the rust.
Sure, next time I get hold of a 1.2, will try and plan a video on that. Could also show potential tests in VCDS to identify a choke or restricted airflow.
Hi Sujoy, nice video. I was more excited to see the MH12 number plate :-) I just wanted to check which mechanic u visit for all your polo issues ? I am a fellow 1.2 MPI owner and I wanna have a good doctor for my polo :) Appreciate your inputs :)
Glad you liked it. Total Service cost (Parts+Oil) came to about Rs. 3500 with oil amounting for the maximum denomination. A small water pump wrench (Rs. 150) and a 7/8mm Allen key (Rs. 50-100) and a Star Screw Driver are the only special tools needed for this servicing. All part numbers and tools I use in their entirety is given in the description!
Hi, do you have the owner's manual of your car? It'll have the exact oil quantity required for the 1.2 TDI. If I remember correctly, 1.5 TDI, 1.6 TDI needs about 4.1L of oil. Will try and check for 1.2 TDI
I have a question, a VW Polo 1.2 of 70 hp 6R, to change spark plugs is it imperative to buy originals from the brand so as not to make a mistake or can we buy brands like Bosch or NGK or similar in competition? I heard an engineer say that he saw a case where they put some NGKs and it went wrong after a few kilometers, which then went out.
If it's an OEM replacement, shouldn't be a problem. The part number and spec is important. Naturally, some brands are better than others and hence they are OEMs to VW, etc.
VW India recommends VW 502 certified oils for Petrol engines. I don't believe in random sources, but I trust the manufacturer service manual and their recommendations. VW 502 certification is met by many 5W-40 engine oils. It is true that VAG diesels also use 5W-40 but they need to also meet VW 505.01. So it's better to use 5W-40 since the company has safely been recommending it for your engine.
@@SujoyShivde okay, vw recommends Castrol Edge Professional and is met the condition vw 50500 / 50501 But everyone is recommending and using Trending Castrol Magnetic Stop Start , But vw 50501 or anything like this isn't mentioned on the back of the bottle.. Should I go for it or find Castrol Edge Professional? And please recommend me which engine should i use which mets all the conditions? And thanks for your response...it was very quick 😁❤️
Brother can you share some information about which transmission fluid I should opt for my 1.2 fire petrol Fiat Punto ? and from where you get the original engine oil filter and clutch cable ?
Hi, I'm not very well versed with Fiat cars, but my best bet will be in the car's owners manual. You can find most genuine parts like Oil Filters and Clutch Cables on Boodmo.
Polo petrol is good or figo petrol overall including build quality, safety, control, features, performance and cost wise, please share your views also cost wise is better to go fir santro or even i10.
I have a Polo 2020 with 1.0 TSI so I can vouch for that as a good overall car, but downsides with Volkswagen can be high service costs, some part availability issue if you're unlucky. Polo is also an old car by today's standards and has Limited Space for other passengers. Ford Figo has a good build quality, good space, and proven to have lower service costs. Polo and ford Figo are both excellently built. I10 is better than Santro in features and safety, and service costs for both are on the lower side. However build quality and safety wise Hyundai will rank below Ford and Volkswagen.
@@SujoyShivde thank you very much, your videos and guidance really helping me in my decision as I am not a technical guy when it comes to cars, you are always been spot on, hope more people would start following you to get benefit like us, 👍.
My friend came in with the car to only replace the oil and the rest. He had replaced spark plugs a few months and about 3000kms back. Didn't notice any misfires and so we didn't touch the spark plugs at all
Hi, I don't have any experience with Altec filters, but if it's a local OEM, I'd only trust it for the Cabin AC and engine air filter max. Rest of the components are way too critical to choose a non reputed brand.
Would be wise to change the Oil Filter. It'd help improve the reliability of your engine. If you use new oil with the old filter, it'll continue circulating debris in your engine. It's not that expensive to replace the oil and oil filter. If you plan on retaining your car, it's a very small thing to do considering the reliability of your machine.
Thanks for the quick revert but the thing is my mechanic has changed to the new oil already and forgot to change the oil filter will it be possible to change the filter after the oil change to?
@@sandeepayyagari4593 That can be done, but it'll have to be done slightly meticulously. Is yours an MPI? You'll have to cover the alternator area because the filter is located there. Since you recently changed the oil, it'll be quite full. Another suggestion is to do this when the car is cold and has been idle. That way the oil would not have circulated a lot to the oil filter making a lesser mess
I went through my conversations and remember I asking my friend for a 7mm Hex Key. So I feel it's a 7mm. Definitely not a 6mm. Perhaps 7mm or 8mm. Sorry for the confusion. I'll try and check with another car.
VW India recommends VW 502 which is only met by 5W-40 at present for its gasoline engines without GPF. So, 0W-40 is theorotically fine too, but a little thinner when colder, which should help during cold start lubrication. But it'd stick to the owner's manual
Bhai would suggest inspecting the wiring once and then company sensor daaldo. Should have a warranty on the part. Problem bahut common hai ye unfortunately in VW
Hi Sujoy, I am having the idling revving at around 800 which used be good at 900. now it goes up and down. It is just after the timing chain pulleys got changed. Will it be resolved by cleaning throttle body or any other issue? Please guide me on it
The idle reducing to 800 isn't a concern, but the Up and Down is a concern. Have you inspected the battery? A weak battery can cause RPM fluctuations. Have the spark plugs been checked or cleaned anytime? An unclean air filter, or a dirty throttle body could also cause fluctuations. These are a few wild guesses to be honest. Connecting a Scan Tool will be the best way to start a methodical diagnosis for this issue.
@@SujoyShivde Yes bro Just one month back service has been done replacing the spark plug, air filter and one week back new battery has been replaced. This has happened many times back and it gets adjusted normal after some days. But understanding VW is quite difficult. If so I will be driving about 700kms this week. Let me check whether it continues or get resolved. I believe these ECU adapts automatically even with dirts inside the throttle body.
hello sujoy, i am feeling loss of power in polo petrol 1.2 l, after i crossed through water filled road of around 200 m. the engine was never stopped while crossing the watery patch. what could be the reason of loss in power
Do you sense any abnormalities in the engine operation? Like white smoke, excess engine noise etc? Even if engine doesn't stall, water can enter from the exhaust and get inwards into the engine causing varying degrees of damage. When was the most recent servicing done? Any check engine lights?
@@SujoyShivde engine noise is not high but some noise is changed. engine is overheating. servicing is done 40 days back . car pickup is reduced within one day. is this could be due to airfilter wet or water trapped somewhere or insufficient air flow
If engine is overheating, check your coolant tank for deposits of discoloured coolant. If you have the time, try opening the airfilter and check the Air Filter for moisture or wetness.
@@SujoyShivde yup, that's same. So I have a doubt, actually I am getting an oil filter with product code ending with C.. Could you please describe the difference between A, D, C?? And is this C vala oil filter good for my car?
@@jaisachdeva7245 Part numbers often undergo revisions due to change in material, change in component design, manufacturing plant etc. A B C and D typically refer to revisions made to a part. Some are super sessions due to discontinuing of previous letters, but both might be available in retail channel depending on stock availability
@@SujoyShivde sorry my comment was incomplete, I am from Pune and I have polo highline 2013, i serviced my car 3 time from different garages but not satisfied with the work, so can you help me to find one who has knowledge on VW POLO ?? I would really appreciate if you can help me find one
My mechanic is using 5w 30 from last three years in my Polo petrol 1.2L and my car is performing normally, can i use 5w 40 now as per VW 502 standards?
5W-30 and 5W-40 are not too different in viscosities, and so there shouldn't be a world of difference. Manufacturers prescribe different engine oils depending on the country, seasons, running pattern etc. Yes, you may use 5W-40 next time.
Sir Polo Petrol or Diesel? Maintenance cost of both is equally high in Authorised Service Centre because of high labour. Now most parts of OEM grade are available outside freely for Polo and Vento as you saw in my video. So you can easily maintain the vehicle outside and save money there. Lekin used car ka maintenance depending on condition jyaada bhi reh sakta hai, depending on how the car is maintained by owner.
Is it possible to buy your oil from outside and give it to the VW SVC when getting it serviced? We know there are a lot of oil scams happening everywhere.
Yes, theoretically possible since the oil filter is upward racing, but definitely not a good idea. Always a good idea to change both the oil and oil filter and use fresh oil
@@SujoyShivde Oil and filter just changed but the engine make a noise like "trrrr" at first start and i suspect the oil filter may be the reason that's why i want to change it with the original one
I'll try and make one. Do change it. I don't believe in a Lifetime Fluid concept. You can check YourDiyNeeds channel on RU-vid. He has a Polo Manual and has demonstrated the Gearbox Oil Change
Hi, you can buy Genuine Branded Parts from sites like Boodmo. Sometimes service centres can also give parts over the counter but that is rare at best and such courtesy is only for Coolant, 1L Engine Oil and AC Filter at best.
5W-40 was the recommendation of oil grade for VW 1.2L MPI as per VW Service Centre for the vehicle I serviced. Should be similar for the Ameo Petrol. It should meet VW 502 spec. I believe Castrol Edge 5W-40 meets it. Shell Helix HX8 5W-30 also meets it
You can get most genuine spares from Boodmo. I've been using Boodmo for sourcing genuine VW spares for almost 2-3 years now. In some cases, depending on your location, Volkswagen might even be doing counter sales. In case you can't find VW Genuine Parts, you can go with OEM and good Quality Aftermarket Components by reputed international manufacturers
