I'm not sure Adam loves him yet, but I feel like he's definitely going to. Adam is here for the mind games on and off court, as evidenced by how he reacted to Aone's pointing at Asahi. He's going to love Oikawa, and I can't wait until he sees enough of him to know for sure. I personally love how petty Oikawa is. Everything is a Muhammad Ali-esque play to get into the head of his opponents and throw them off.

I chose my scariest moment was when I nearly died, I was in labor with my son, and I went into shock. I lost my vision, and I couldn't move. All I could do was hear. I heard my husband yelling, asking why I was passed out. I heard my mom yelling, asking what was wrong with me. Then I heard from the doctor that had rushed into the room at some point. I heard the nurse yell, "BP is 60/20!" Then I heard the doctor yell out,"Get everyone out! We're losing her! Everyone out!" I was scared but also calm. That was the last thing I heard. My last thought was for my son to be safe. I kept asking the universe, please let me see his face just once. Let him be ok. When I woke up, a few hours later, I was still pregnant, still laboring. I was scared and mad. I mean, I nearly died, and now I have to push?! Jerks! 2nd place was when my son was 2. He broke his femur. The hospital put him on a hold so I couldn't take him home. We had to go through 3 days of investigation before his ortho said he had an unknown medical issue that caused the break and we weren't abusing him. So I was terrified I was going to have my child stolen from me, then terrified he had cancer or a genetic disease. He's fine. 16, 6'2", 280 lbs of pure sweetness. He reminds me a lot of Asahi. He wants to look wild and scary but he's a big teddy bear.

I really like that exchange between Iwaizumi and Kindaichi at 38:16 and what it says about these characters and their enjoyment of the game. They're watching a team that has beaten them, and that they think they may have to face again so this is research of sorts, but Iwaizumi is really enjoying seeing Karasuno surprise people (and later, genuinely appreciative of how powerful Asahi is). Both Oikawa and Kindaichi have messy feelings about Kageyama (that then extend to Karasuno as a whole) but even then, Oikawa's very interested and entertained by Hinata's point at the end of the episode.

The reason why everyone misreads Karasuno is because the kanji used in it is quite similar to the kanji tori 😄 The difference is the itty bitty little line in the middle of the box☺️ 烏(crow) 鳥(bird) Btw, there are plenty of words that is just one stroke different and mean something totally different😉 Example: 大(big) 犬(dog) , 辛い(spicy or painful) 幸せ(happiness) , 休む(rest) 体(body) 午(horse) 牛(cow) , 日(sun) 目(eye) And so much more👍 Also we don’t use all the existing kanjis on a daily basis, just the basic 1000ish we learn in elementary. So it is common to stumble upon unfamiliar kanjis we either were not taught or forgotten😋

Oooo both those stories were quite scaryyyy. My scariest moment might be when my family took me to an adult horror movie when I was maybe about 7 or 8 years old. The loud sudden jump scare sounds in the theatre were really scary for me at that time. About this episode, I am very curious - whose more competitive Adam or Sarah?? 😁 great episode though, strong start by Karasuno. After the match started, did you observe Oikawa's reaction, he didn't care for any of the plays Karasuno did except for Kageyama Hinata's quick. He was so excited, that's interesting and says a lot about his competitive spirit I think.

@girish2754 that's an interesting question. If you look at it today, probably Sarah. Once i stopped playing sport my competitive nature turned more internal versus external. When I was competing I hated losing as much as Sarah. She would probably would have edged me out but it would have been close. I feel like at Oikawa's level you have seen all the other things or are doing them within your own team. The "new" play is interesting to him.

Iirc, Sarah was so offended by the pointing in her first watch haha. Adam seems to appreciate the swagger (obnoxiousness?) though. I think he'll have opposite feelings than Sarah for Tendo, Terushima, and Atsumu. Is that a spoiler? Guess it doesn't matter since Adam won't remember the names... Thank you for your always wonderful videos. The reason why Karasuno is mistaken for Torino, Italy is because the kanji spellings for the first words ``Karasu'' and ``Tori'' are very similar, making it easy to read them incorrectly. As for how to remember Tsukishima's name, the kanji "Tsuki" in the name "Tsuki Shima" has the same meaning as "moon" in English. So Tsukishima's hair color and the color of the moon are similar, so it might be a good idea to remember it by associating it with the color. I'm looking forward to next week.

The most scared/creeped out I've ever been: When I was 15 my dad, brother and I went to the Appalachian mountains for spring break. We were mostly hiking, but driving from holler to holler. My brother noticed that there was a place on the map labeled "Poor Valley". Being eleven, he found that very amusing. My dad asked a park ranger about it and the guy suddenly gets sooo serious. He told us not to go there. People go missing there. "We never find them". Next day, we're driving on the tiny mountain roads that switch back and forth on the mountains' edge. No gaurd rails. Occasionally we would see signs that said "break in pavement". I thought the meant the road would be gravel for a bit, but it actually meant the edge of the road had crumbled down the mountain. We see a huge coal truck coming in the opposite direction and realize there just isn't enough space for both of us. Like, no way. We pulled off the main road as soon as possible onto a little dirt path, practically falling down the mountain, no way to turn around. There is no choice but to keep going... and going, and going. We end up lost in, you guessed it, Poor Valley. It's hard to put into words just how creepy this place was. It was so dark, like the sun never reached down that far. We passed by a deliverance church (snake handlers) that had no parking lot and was a quarter mile from the nearest road, meaning people just walked through the woods to go hold snakes as a worsiph practice. We saw a huge cluster of cars halfway up the mountain. No road. No idea how they got there. Even the little shacks were scary. We saw one now and again. They were so ridiculously isolated it seemed impossible that people were actually living there. There was a constant feeling of being watched. We spent about four hours navigating our way out and nearly ran out of gas. The whole time, all I could think about was how grave that park ranger looked, how serious his tone of voice sounded when he told us, "People go missing there. We never find them".

Man, seeing Hinata fly and come down just straight up brings so many manga panels and every single one of them are chill inducing. It doesn't matter if I watched the anime years ago or read the manga long ago, it just brings back those emotions, feelings, the breathlessness I've experienced during my journey. It's like having a revelation every time I watch it. Deep respect for Haruichi Furudate and his team of editors and people who've helped him make this masterpiece. Again, Sarah and Adam, I urge you to read the manga. It's been worth every moment of my time and I'm sure it'd be yours as well. About "Torino", I'm not Japanese to give exact details but the name was written in Kanji. Japanese language is written in three different scripts, Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji. While Hiragana and Katakana are phonetic and direct, kanji is pictorical. The symbols can mean different things at the same time, and so it is very difficult to read since you have to pick the correct meaning according to the context of the whole sentence. The characters of Karasuno are written totally in kanji, only two symbols are used and people sometimes have trouble finding the right meaning of the symbol, these people are highschoolers. Again, my knowledge is from the basic japanese I've learnt and I've not learnt kanji, I apologize for any mistakes. Please feel free to correct me or provide more information.

I've had a few experiences similar, but the one that sticks in my mind the most is the time I was driving with a friend back to college in January. It was around 6 PM, we are on the interstate, traffic medium, snow is pouring, and the roads are already icy, a car in front of us hard brakes, my friend panics and turns his pickup slightly while also pressing onto his brake, we fishtail somehow in a 180. We can literally see all of the headlights facing toward us that were just behind us, we 180 again and somehow are just barely on the side of the road with traffic passing us while we are parked. We were both so scared that we didn't say anything for a good 10-15 seconds, and didn't get back on the road for another 5 minutes while my friend gathered himself and we waited for a good point to rejoin the traffic.

8:25 They call them ‘Torino’ because the kanji for tori (鳥, meaning bird) and karasu (烏) look very similar - there’s just an extra line in (what I imagine is) the ‘head’ part of the bird kanji. I’ve been on a rewatch streak of your reaction videos! Work has been really busy lately, and I’ve loved just coming home and de-stressing with the good vibes of your and Adam’s reactions to my favourite comfort anime!

I’m super late but I wanted to say that I think the reason Ukai went with Kageyama as their setter is because there is no time to let the players try out stuff and see which ones match with who. There is so little time before the preliminaries that you want to start with the best team possible, so putting Kageyama as the official setter was the way to get a good team in such a short period of time, because he can evolve quickly.

My scariest moment was when I was 7 years old, I was learning to roller skate and as you'd excpect I was stumbling and falling a lot. Then I fell square on my butt and I don't know if it was the height, the angle or whatnot but it took the breath out of my lung, litterally. I'm not sure of the physiological cause, but for a few seconds I was unable to breath even if I wanted to and it scared the shit out of me as I was feeling myself suffocate even if it was just a brief moment. I've never been able to get back on Rollers since then, I can ride a bike, a board, ski, but the memory of getting blocked from the most essential thing necessary to live that I had taken for granted all this time prevents me from trying again.

Naming characters is an art. Knowing the meaning of the names can help you understand them better. Haikyuu names keyword translation: Karasuno乌野→crow field Ukai乌养→raise crows Hinata Shoyo日向翔阳→fly towards the sun Kageyama Tobio影山飞雄→shadow mountain fly great Sawamura Daichi泽村大地→pond village earth Sugawara Koushi菅原孝支→filial Azumare Asahi东峰旭→east mountainpeak sunrise Nishinoya Yuu西谷夕→west valley evening Tanaka Ryunosuke田中龙之介→dragon Tsukishima Kei月岛萤→moon island firefly Yamaguchi Tadashi山口忠→mountain pass loyal Shimizu Kyogo清水洁子→clear water clean Yachi Hitoka谷地仁花→valley benevolence flower Nekoma音驹→sound horse (neko猫→cat) Nekomata猫又→cat again Kozume Kenma孤爪研磨→lone claw polish Kuroo Tetsurou黑尾铁朗→black tail ironman Yamamoto Taketora山本猛虎→fierce tiger Haiba Lev灰羽リエーフ→grey feather lion You'll find how interesting the names are. Such as Daichi is as solid as the earth. Asahi and Noya's names have exactly the opposite meanings which also reflects their different characteristics. I'll write about the names of other members of other teams later on. (Please reply to my comment since I've worked so hard to explain these to you and I'm a huge fan who has watched every episode of your reaction videos for at least three times.)

The other teams sometimes say Torino because Kanji often have two readings. So the kanji for karasu can also be read as tori, which is honestly the more common way to read it!
@CJ-mk3nf
@CJ-mk3nf Месяц назад
This is a bit old, but just in case you haven't seen it from anyone else, this isn't quite true. It's true that kanji do have multiple readings more often than not, but the karasu/tori mistake is just cause they're *very* similar. 鳥-tori, 烏-karasu. Only the one little line in the "eye" is different, funnily enough I made the same mistake when I was watching the series for the first time and read the team name on the sheet 😂

Yeah, Sarah's scary story definitely checks out, haha. As a native Nebraskan, I've had similar stories like that, both as the pranked and the prankster. Just the wind and chilly night air alone can make for an eerie Nebraska night, but that rain and lightning had to have been icing on the cake. It's the perfect horror movie setting. Also, Nebraska volleyball in the Elite 8. GBR.

Hey Sarah and Adam! Really love watching this series. I've watched almost all of Sarah's previous let's watch and let me tell you this Adam, no one has yet to match Sarah's on-point predictions.
