This stuff makes me restore my waith in toy industry. Poeple like Hasbro would've probably made seperate highly articulated 100% solid Ultron toy and a bricky combiner Voltron ment for little kids -_- This is what I love, 5 articulated lions coming together to form even greater and fully posable Voltron figure
I really wish the wings came off and formed the shield. It seems like they were meant to at some point and that functionality was cut. They pull off. It's almost there.
your green lion broke because you grabbed too far from the shoulder. you gotta pull it from the shoulder. you got the trick right, but you gotta grab the green and red lions by the shoulders.
I remember the old Voltron were the red member would go to the black lion, the black member or the princess would go to the blue lion, and the blue member would go to the red lion.
My only nitpick with this figure is that I wished the necks of the green/red lion would collapse inward. As it is now, it makes the arms of voltron look much longer than they should be.
my dad said that this was the third giant robot in the original voltron series the first giant robot was made out of 15 different vehicles called voltron 1 the second robot was made up of three vehicles called alpha beta gamma and then the voltron every one loves came out
To be honest voltron's combined mode looks like crap the black lions upper legs should of been small enough so that they could of possibly collapsed into the chest a bit and the arms probably should be higher up
I have only 2 complains about this figure/set of figures. 1. I dont like that the mouths of the limb lions cant stay open. 2, by far my biggest problem with this guys is that i havent seen ANY of these toys ANYWHERE in my country!
I have taken the arms off of mine dozens of times. The first three times it was still stiff. But now they come off fairly easy. No damage has been done to them either.
balt just a fyi if you raise the arm of red and green then press them into the body the arms pop out very easy and smoothly, see other youtube vide on how todo it
I used to have a toy of the original. There's just something about this version I don't like. I don't know, maybe it's because they look too mechanical. Also, the sword is.... too mechanical as well. Maybe it's because I always saw Voltron as having this godly aura to him, but this one just looks like a very large robot.
Am I the only one who thinks the legs seem a bit short? Cuz they seem a little short to me, maybe that's just me, maybe it's just the lighting or the angle of the video, but it looks like it could use an extra inch or two in Blue and Yellow Lion.
Ha Yoon Shin rly the price and Yellow and Pink Are my only issue though Despite not being a fan of Voltron I may get this it is so much simpler and does more
Actually (jupp, gonna be "that" guy), Gaogaigar is from 1997 and ended in 1998. It was the last of the Yuusha or Brave series which superseded Transformers etc etc :)
And the toy fails to look like the proper combined mode. I haven't seen the show, but I do know what the combi8ned mode is supposed to look like, all thanks to that sound gimmick. Thanks Playmates, oh how the mighty have fallen so.
Nope, the way you described them, it sounds like this figure is on par with what they've done over the past few years. Seriously look at this combined mode and compared it to the actual show, it's not show accurate in the slightest! Also if you recall from the video, Spada clearly said that there is a quality control issue, toys should try to avoid things like that, especially those out on the common market. Sounds like Playmates should stay out of Bandai territory and stick to Turtles, but then again from how you described them, they're probably slipping as a toy company overall. No doubt they'll get bought out by someone at some point.
The show model uses a lot of size changing cheats that simply can't be recreated in toys form. It's still a great Voltron toy as all my lions have avoided all the QC issues.
Actually they can or could have done. They could have made a chest piece out of plastic which is show accurate at the very least, but they couldn't due to the sound gimmick they decided to implement. I'm not against that, but the look of the figure does suffer because of it, there's no getting around that. They could have also made the wings a bit more accurate. The quality control I find to be a big issue, I don't like the thought of having to replace a figure every time you combine them, that's a MAJOR hindrance to the toy, thus sadly it's a failure. Plus these figures are NOT cheap, so that just adds to the problem. A recall of this toy perhaps needs to be implemented so that improvements can be made. I doubt much will go into the overall appearance of the toy, but they should at least fix the connection issue.
Playmates as a company has always been hit or miss just Look at the TMNT lines. And for a figure as big as the black lion they needed some kind of stand alone gimmick as a extra hook. It would be cool if a Japanese high end designer got a crack at this version of Voltron but that said I'm still happy enough with what we got. Also looks great next my the 24" Mattel classics Voltron.
i may not have made the first comment, but i was the first to like the video also to take out the arms just take them out the same way you put them in,just hold the black lion shoulder section and pull the red and green lions out,you might want to hold the back ends of the red and green lions to do so also i haven't broken mine since i had them. never do the leverage technique folks.
Form...Blazing...BUTTER KNIFE!! Yeah, that's the weakest part of the set. A sweet alternative for those who can't afford that gor-diddly-orgeous Soul of Chogokin one, I'd guess, and certainly a better value than that Power Rangers "Deluxe" Movie Megazord (which Voltron is a little cheaper than anyway)...
The when you said Voltron is "Highly poseable" is a misstatement. It was funny when you put the sword in his hand and barely moved the arm and proclaimed "He's highly poseable." The Arms are barely articulated and you should admit the fact that the lions mouths being spring loaded sucks. I liked the way you blew right past the fact that the head has no articulation in robot mode. This Voltron is mearly a statue, you shouldn't be misleading to people because they go out to buy Voltron thinking they are going to drop 120 dollars or more and get a "highly poseable" Voltron figure. I own this figure he is big, chunky figure and represents the look of the Voltron from the Netflix show. The light up and sound features are cool along with the detection of the linons, but I am here to tell you just forget posing him. Good Sales job, poor review.
Like most toy reviewers, he's probably used to Power Rangers / Super Sentai combiners which only promise 8-point ratchet joints at the shoulder and nothing else. While the poseability is lacking in the neck when they could have done better and the arms are very limited, this Voltron set .. this COMBINING Voltron set is still much more articulation than even the Zeo Megazord.
No he clearly said highly poseable not highly poseable as compaired to Power Rangers figures. You can defend this "review" all you want but it was either a sales pitch or a required video to fulfill an obligation. I like the figure but I am a long time Voltron fan. How do you explain the difference between this review and virtually every other review of the lions/combined figure? I've Just noticed baltmatrix phoning it in on some reviews lately.
Re-reading your comment I can understand why highly posable is an overstatement but it's hardly a statue either. It's a good, but not amazing figure. Likable and surely will make someone's childhood awesome or at least provide an affordable Voltron to the retail only fans of that size. But yes you're right it's not perfect and better ones do exist.
