I stand corrected. My manual said not to screw the dipstick in. Sorry

Hi^^ Do you know where can I find the servo unit steering system? Used or refinished unit is ok. Thanks

When doing a helpful tutorial like this, adding inane background 'music' is hugely irritating.

I agree this video should be removed as it dangerously tells you to underfill your pod gear oil by saying to screw your dip stick in to check level.

This video should be removed before someone destroys their transmission by adding too much or too little oil. You NEVER screw this dipstick in when checking the transmission oil. That's why this dude said "it's slightly overfilled" please DO NO HARM and take this video down

Thank you for the feedback Andrew it is always good to see other people in the marine industry looking out for others. We are fairly confident though in this method on the IPS 1 drive as advised by Volvo Penta. Some other gearboxes may be different and your advice may be applicable. For your reference please see an excerpt from the workshop manual: Remove the dipstick (2) by turning it anti-clockwise. "Dry off the dipstick and reinstall it in the propulsion unit, screw it into place. Remove the oil dipstick again and check the oil level. The correct oil level is inside the marked area".

Glad you confirm this as I need to check my Volvo penta IPS pods here very shortly before the season starts here in the great lakes in Michigan USA.
