Just did this 2007 s60 2.5T. Connected the tube to radiator as shown. Did not drain first, just flushed thru tube and refilled as it pumped out. Took 2 gallons then it was clear. Used Valvoline Import Multi-Vehicle (ATF) Full Synthetic. I have used this ATF before works great.

Why drain the fluid, if your going through the exercise of the flush? Someone said 10 quarts need for a flush. Thanks

I'm Doing this and 3/4 od tube fits perfect without needing tape or Teflon tape.

Did it today, used valvoline maxlife. I couldn't believe how black it was! I put 3 3.7 qt jugs. And it was just barley got red lol. I have 176 k, and think its never been changed. Didn't smell burnt though. Thanks for the video, I used a 15/16 wrench cause I didn't have a 24mm. Its exactly the same size. O and I still put a little Teflon tape also. So 3/4 o.d with a little Teflon works perfect. I thought the drain plug was magnetic, but I guess there a magnet in the pan I read. And I didn't remove anything but the top hose that goes to the airbox, but I have a 2.5t do No need to move anything else. Maybe different for the t5. I had the same hose that fit into the fill port that u had, works perfect. Anyways glad to have it done!

Steven, thanks for the tip. I used 3/4" O.D. vinyl hose and it fit perfectly, didn't have to put any tape. 2006 S60 2.5T. I did this process until I used 10 quarts of fluid because the old fluid was black. Going to do one last pan drain then fill with new fluid to replace it, already have two quarts anyway.

Is the fluid the correct level just by doing this method. I see you did not check the dipstick afterwards.

Doe. The actual fluid matter? Like you said it’s T5 so does that matter if it isn’t?

Just found your channel. Did you change the PCV system yet? I don’t see many 2006+ P2 T5 videos.

I've changed the pcv, headers, etc.. unfortunately I won't be posting them because of the missing footage. Without a second person shooter for the different camera angles I noticed that I can't put an instructional video together because of the missing pieces. I thought of just putting up the raw footage with missing parts, but this was done so long ago I don't know if I could even find the videos.

Hey sir I wanna go and do this I’m just worried because people warn if the fluid is too dirty it can cause problems yours looks about the same color as mine DARK haha did you have any issues after this? Thanks🙏
@DiyProJames
@DiyProJames 3 года назад
Yes, I've heard this before too... The logic is that some of the shavings still in the fluid help make the worn gears fit better. If there is already damage to the gears then it's only a matter of time it fails, whether you change the fluid or not. The longer you wait on changing the fluid the more damage is done. So it's a risk if there is already damage in the transmission. If not, should be fine. I actually left half the "dirty fluid" inside for the first change out. Then after putting on about 5,000 more miles, I did full change. I did not have any issues.

@@DiyProJames hey awesome thanks for the reply! im going to do that aswell to get the trans used to the new fluid ive had alot of people tell me to do the drain and fill method so i think illl do what you said and change a bit at time so that the trans isnt shocked or anything. thank ya for your helpful videos and we are T5 brothas! @nastyy.t5 on IG

There is some truth to this. I changed only 2 quarts of fluid in a 1996 850 Turbo Wagon, when I swapped a radiator. The tranny was previously working flawlessly. 2 days later, the tranny self-destructed. Funny thing about this, is that I bought another tranny from a salvage yard which had no fluid in it. After installing and adding all new fluid, it worked perfectly and still does, 50k miles later. Go figure...

@@corrosionbrewing1627 dang sorry to hear about the tranny blowing up but seems you got a good reliable one now :) you have to be fragile not to shock the tranny when putting new fluid it can start slipping and all other things haha

The aw55 in these cars is one of the few trannys that react great to fluid flushes, at any millage and fluid condition. I have never seen nor heard of a aw55 being damaged by new fluid 😂 and I work on them

If you can call some the bolt sizes , when you remove them, would be great.

The procedure should be same on many different makes and models. Just make sure your putting in the correct fluid. This is how many DIY'ers do it. Unless you have a actually flushing machine.

@DiyProJames

@@rccorcoles7082 A note of caution. If your transmission is already in "bad shape" due to lack of maintenance. You may have more slippage problems with a transmission flush. There are videos that talk about this... Use your owners manual for fluid type and specs.. Good luck..
