Thank you - your video was great and I would not have been able to do this myself without your video. My car is fixed and it only cost me money for the new shifter.
Shift but can definitely be replaced. I replaced my cracking one with a nice alcantara one from Viva with the help from George there. Your previous video of removing the knob helped me out a lot to remove my stock one to replace it with a brand new T5 sport leather one. 👍 Keep up the great and helpful videos!!
Thanks so much! This was very helpful because we fixed our own shift knob on Volvo XC70 using this technique. You saved us a bunch of time and money :).
This is BS. I pulled the SOB, twisted, tugged, prayed, beat on it, prayed some more, felt my rotator cuff tear at about the same time my L4-L5 disk ruptured. My trip to the junk yard to pull this friggen gear shift off cost the entry fee of $1 but the ambulance to take me to the ER was about $875 and the gear shift hasn't moved. ☠
Tried this and everything went like you showed except it wouldn't come off. Will try again then if need be take to a mechanic or someone better equipped.
I have pulled a few of this off in the junk yards but 95 percent of them are in the park position, when this is you have to go in the direction of the gear shifter not pull straight up. I learn from you about keeping constant pressure and wiggle side to side with the pressure applied...thanks for this. I like to see a video of taking off the control panel on the drivers seat by the floor.
Great tip Mark. Indeed, in the junkyard is harder to remove these - usually the cars don't have the key in the ignition so now way to move the gear selector. I noted for the seat control panel, will see at the next yard trip
Do you know what the correct term for that ring is called that holds the gear selector on? I’m trying to order both on fcp euro I found the gear selector not the small ring
