Want a fast family car that's crazy fast but won't get you in trouble with your spouse? Rory reckons he may have found the answer in his review of the Volvo V60 Polestar -- a practical estate that goes like a damn rocket.

You're the only motoring journalist who actually manages to explain how the steering is, all other reviewers delivers just a sea of abstractness in that aspect, well done!

you agree with : this car is not ready for the track? , personally i think it is :)

greenseed It’s track capable and is set up to handle track duty, but Volvo are heavy cars and it’s very apparent.

Is getting a service on this car super expensive or reasonable?
@v60polestar88
@v60polestar88 3 года назад
@@TheTillhammer 5 years of ownership the only issue I had was strut mount needed replacing and it was covered by Volvo. It would have only cost around $400 if I had to pay. That being said the Polestar parts are very expensive if you ever have to replace them. Ohlins shocks are $1000.00 each Brembo brake pads $300.00 but you can go aftermarket for way less $50-$200 range Other than that it’s not too expensive to maintain

Another great review from Rory. I am a bit biased as I have had a V60 Polestar for a year now. There are only going to be 750 Polestars ever to be produced of which we in the UK only get 125. It is an outstandingly good car - not really a track car but in other ways it is a massively good car. From a real-world point of view, it is much better for UK roads than any of the other competitor performance estates - including getting the sort of fun Rory talks of. My own view having tested the competition is that it is a significantly better and, in real terms, quite a bit cheaper. An Audi RS4 estate properly equipped costs about £8k more. A couple of extra points - as Rory said there are not many signs of it being is but he forgot to mention the front and rear air dams which also improve the looks. In fact, put it on the road and it really looks good compared with the competition - discreet but has that special something. Also worth mentioning is that for a petrol-engined car of its type, fuel consumption is by no means too bad.

I have one of these and it's awesome! It's such a Q car and not a lot can keep up with it. The kids (there had to be some) really like the heated rear seats! Looking forward to trying it on the Nurburgring soon

A much better review than the average fair on RU-vid but I think you could do a couple of things that might help 'complete' the review. At some point in your review, compare the car to what you think it's competitors are or other cars that you consider compete with it. And more importantly, since it looked like you were bouncing around in the seat quite a bit, you gotta describe 'ride quality' or 'lack thereof' more specifically. You want that suspension for your back for the next 4-7 years? Thanks again.

There are two things that separates me from this car. 1. Money 2. Importing second-hand cars is illegal in Indonesia It sounds absolutely epic, and it sounds exactly like how I want it. I always love how a straight 6 sounds, and the V60 has the sound I expect from a straight 6. This, the M235i, M2, and Alpina B3. Plus it ticks that practicality section which before, had limited my choice for a straight 6 to an Alpina B3 only.

£48,000 for a Volvo estate! Hmmm me thinks not. Better still, buy the wife/partner or what ever a 20k family MPV and that leaves 28k for something special new/used. So Mr Rory what would you do with 28k? My 28k choice: 2009 Porsche Cayman 3.4S PDK 20k miles on Autotrader and it can take corners!
@FungusLabel
@FungusLabel 9 лет назад
+clanmac66 That Volvo used, costs about same as the Porsche + you can fit whole family. You are comparing a fast car to a fast toy.

Rory Reid I assume that's UK mpg... Did you see that Volvo have applied to US-patent the BMW i8 setup of turbo-three plus electric? I think a C40 hot hatch could be on its way, i.e. a poorer man's Polestar. I so want to tweak the Volvo lineup for fuel efficiency and power and I'm excited at what might be in the works for N America. Hope you and Chris H will get to try some of Volvo's new stuff out in Canada, ie dat Haldex + suspension in our snowy BC mountains and our potholed Montreal streets. We practically made this country for that video, I hear.
@Anvil75
@Anvil75 8 лет назад
There is a good reason the polestar hasn't got a double cutch transmission. They are rubbish 😂 Are they quick? Yes. But after 70'000km they're done and need reworking or even replacing. And that is so not Volvos philosophy.

You said you end up having to own a hatchback, crossover, or even worse an estate! Should have been hatchback, estate, or even worse a crossover! Makes more sense as urban crossovers are the most moist handling, ugly cars on the road today where 99% are front wheel drive and powered by a drizzly small diesel I4 lump.
