That's a great deal, Ken. Cars in the UK are so much cheaper than they are in the Netherlands. I wonder why that is. I was looking at some 2L options and did consider going for a diesel but the taxes on the diesels are getting high on the Continent. Also, the V70 is a heavy car and I wonder if the 2L produces enough power for that kind of weight. But I guess the diesel produces more torque than the petrol version and that would help to keep it moving along at a reasonable pace.

Literally looking at a 2008 V70 3.2 with 136k miles for $6500. Literally looking at it to replace my girlfriend's current Volvo XC. I drive a lexus also and this will be her third volvo. They all seem to better than my Lexus in many ways, especially space and ride comfort 😅

Yes, the turbo has almost no lag. I was just thinking about that the other day and experimenting with the lag factor. And I can certainly recommend the 2.5T. It sounds like you should be able to scoop one up for a fair price in Ireland. Good luck!

That's great. It will be interesting to see how far it goes. I've heard numerous examples of these cars doing more than 700,000 km.

@@vanholland7787 As long as you have a car with a real Volvo engine,preferably a 2.4 or 2.5 5 cilinder, you'l be fine.

@@frits1463 Yes, I agree. I did at one point consider a 2.0 liter but a friend convinced me to go for a 5 cylinder based on the power to weight ratio factor. I'm glad I followed his advice.

Yes, it is a great platform. The car has been getting a lot of use since the video was made and still doesn't miss a beat.

Yes, it's certainly a solid and reliable car. I can highly recommend one, a 2.5T with a 6 speed manual. It would be great if you find one which recently had the timing belt changed.

Thanks, deepfryblue. I can definitely recommend a late model V70 with 2.5T petrol. But it sounds like you're well versed with the Volvos. I just had a look and was surprised to see there's a few for sale in NZ, though some look a bit pricey and others look like bargains. It's amazing to see such a range of prices for the V70. Anyway, good luck with your hunt. And I'm actually from Australia, not NZ, but close.

30k miles may be too low for a 10 year old car im turning 18 in 2 months and looking to buy a v70 2002-2006 for 2k euros myself

I'm not sure about the XC70. I haven't driven one. And I wasn't really looking at them when I was on the hunt for mine. I just assumed the V70 would be more reliable than the XC70. But I could be wrong. Still, if I was looking at 4WD Volvos I think I would go for the XC90. But, again, I don't know much about the XC70.

@@emrahbaltaliev4861 Yes, that could be good. But I would suggest looking for a 5 cylinder, a 2.5T, and comparing that with the 4 cylinder.

Yes, there is something a bit special about the feel and sound of the 5 cylinder petrol. And with the turbo and 6 speed manual... that's a solid combination.

For me, the fact that some perceive it as boring is part of the appeal. But those who know these cars and have driven them know different.

Drive yourself to the morgue. Hilarious. Volvo's are built for practicality and comfortable driving, given the choice between that and style I'll the former every time. I once owned a BMW 320D Estate, trying to bridge that gap between style and practicality, it was objectively the worst car I've ever owned. at 110,000 miles the turbo died, so the car just lost ALL power. The driver side window mechanism packed up. The AC died. It sprang an oil leak. The back seats didn't fold down far enough to make the boot space a flat interior, speaking of back seats, everyone who ever sat in them said they were the most uncomfortable seats ever to be put in a car. I do a lot of road trips with friends and it got to the point that they were bringing piles of padding (Cushions etc...) just to get through a 2 hour journey. After one journey my Auntie even begged for some other family members to go out of their way and give her a lift home so that she didn't have to sit in those BMW seats again. Since having a Volvo people have remarked and exclaimed about how much more comfortable the ride is... I'll never have a BMW again. Why not an Audi? Well, because Audi's are only famous for one thing, and that's being driven by pricks. Volvo are top of the market for practical cars, at 42 I'm not expecting to pass away any time soon, but I imagine given the reliability of the engine I'll still have this same Volvo when I do, so yes; It'll drive me to the morgue, there's more than enough boot space, and it goes down flat! :D

@@geoffdundee I drive S60. I love that car! It has very good gasoline engine and quite nice body. But V70 is just awfull for me from exterior look. I mean back side of course. With Christmas wishes form Poland :-).

Well if it lasts until he needs a funeral car then it was a great 10k spent!
