I do give a true opinion, I'm totally independent as in the car companies don't advertise directly with me unlike most other channels who have magazines, also there's no script so no one (not even me) know what I'm going to say :D
Bob, you may recall how i once said your videos seem to end prematurely, as if you had plenty more to say, well the ending to this was simply superb, it made my day. Go raibh maith agat :)
i drove a v60 with d3 engine, 2.0d 163ps 400nm 6-speed manual, and I was a bit disappointed. The engine was very good and feels powerful till 3000rpm but after that it dies a bit. It sounds good, i agree with you. But for me it's more like an engine to cruise and for lower revs, not a very explosive engine in higher revs. Good review. Keep them coming!
Thank you for your comment about the seats. I test drove one and I felt really uncomfortable. I had no idea why I felt that way. I thought I failed to set it to the correct position. My current car is gold GT and seats does really hug the passengers and the driver. I guess that why I felt uncomfortable in the Volvo. Top review, thanks :)
I didn't notice it, the 120kph or 75mph limit on our motorways mean that we cruise in around the 80mph mark all the time and I didn't notice any more wind noise than I expected to hear. Hope that helps, Thanks!
Thanks checked Rio & Cee'd both look nice. Went for test drive in the Astra 1.4T Sri on 2010 plate. Test drive salesman in and the Mrs & it definitely shifts. Has really nice interior/seats, Some review say rolls & steering lacks feel, but felt great when I hammered a few laps of a roundabout! VW Sirrocco and Alfa G faster on paper but it felt strong and you won't get those for 8.5k...being delivered Thurs. Went in Volvo on my travels, sat in an S60, that an XC60 great if you have the £ or €!
Intro is from a tutorial but Video Co Pilot. Andrew Kramer is a great teacher, Adobe After Effects for editing the title, Premier Pro for the normal edits.
Any chance of Astra review? Never liked Astra's but the new shape and the GTC look good. Other reviews say the 1.4T is the one to go for but there are not many used on sale. Had a look in local dealers & booked in to test drive that (if they find) and the 1.6 next week. They reckon the 1.6 will cruise on the motorway easier with a couple of people in and its cheaper to insure.
Great review and great car. Well spotted on noticing the lack of side supports. A lot of people know its important to support the back. However a lot of back problems are muscular in the lower back. The muscles over tighten to protect the spinal cord. Without side supports going round a corner the muscles have to tighten, do this repeatedly - bad back! Still the interior of Volvo looks like a car costing €20k more
As it happens I do have a few Opels on the way. I haven't driven the new Astra yet but other reviews in Ireland that I trust the opinion of give it a good review. The bigger the engine the better the cruise, have a look at the new Kia Cee'd that's just come out that's a good car with a 7 year warranty
The wind noise is not a problem, the level of wind noise does not annoy at all - but there is road noise on coarse surfaces, I have driven this car about ten times on different roads. I have read all the reviews from UK sites but no one mentioned it, I could find this fact only in an US site - Consumer Guide Automotive. And the road noise from coarse surfaces definitely annoys.
I just love Volvos, I had 460, S40 and now I'm driving the S60 D5. Next year I'm probably getting the new S60 or this one, XC60. I'm just worried what will happen in future with Volvo, I hope Chinese won't ruin it too much.
Volvo the first motor with (SIPS), they do make a nice car, but I'm not keen on the centre console and the handbrake is over near the passanger seat I think .... but yes a good car are they worth the cash for what you get ? as for the ending DJ BOBBY F if the car review job dries up dont take up singing please.. go out on a high with car reviews. good job as ever Bob
+JDMullachabu I didn't apply and I'm not a yes man, I say what I really think of a car and that upsets some people. Thanks for the thoughts though, someday I might make money from this!
+Bob Flavin Ha, good to know. You're our go-to guy for reviews anyway, for exactly those reasons. This year it's between an XC60 or Evoque - currently the former as we could do with that bit more room. I think.
JDMullachabu Great choices, I'm not a huge fan of Volvo as they're a bit safe and boring so I'd be looking at Evoque or Audi Q3. Have you seen the Mercedes GLE? That's cool looking
+Bob Flavin Haven't seen it, but it's RR or Vv for us; wife and I on each side. Company car and future baby carrier, so I'm still tipping on the Vv side, but it's pretty close!
the issue with the side support only appears to happen with skinny people I guess with Volvo's big markets are USA Germany and the UK people tend to be slightly bigger built!
As far as I know, the Chinese are providing the cash but the same designers are involved. The only ones that could ruin Volvo are accountants because they ruin everything
You don’t have to get defensive. The Volvo XC60 has many great qualities. You just complained too much about it. The small things really. Do you review your own videos?
